Ring setting ideas for small stones !

6 mm isn’t small, but you might look at European or overseas designers, because the proportions tend to be less ginormous. I commissioned a pretty lotus ring from Dinar on Etsy for my pink-purple sapphire and had it set by a local jeweler. It came out very pretty. (They show an emerald in that setting.)

Great shop! Will add it to my favourite. Do share pics of your ring!

Your new stones are beautiful. I think they would look great each set in a halo setting or together in a two stone bypass ring. I have a few 6mm stones that are set. The icy blue zircon and purple garnet in the halo settings in this picture are both 6mm rounds. The blue sapphire that is not in a halo is a smidge larger at 6.3mm. This might help give you an idea of the visual impact a setting can create with a 6mm stone. I threw the 5mm mahenge spinel pendant in the picture just so you could see that smaller stones are a great size for everyday pendants. I don’t know why the photo is attaching so dark, but hopefully it still helps.

Your rings are gorgeous and have so much presence. I love the garnet setting the most. Would you mind sharing where it’s from?

Thanks for sharing the 5mm perspective, I have quite a few of those too!

The purple garnet setting is one of my favorites too. I purchased it from leejewelry on eBay.
Here is a link to the listing:

They can customize any of their settings to fit your stone size and make it in the gold color you prefer. I contact them through the listing for the setting I am interested in with the specs I want and ask them for their best price, which is typically a little lower than the listed price. So far, I have been happy with all of my purchases from them.

After a lot of digging I realised I can make a round 6mm have more presence if I put it in an octagon shaped casing and have two side stones next to it. So for that I need two white 3.5mm round diamonds but I really don’t know the prices- would you guys know? I want a neutral colour and only colour I can think of is that of white diamonds!

Also putting two diamonds on the side of CS centre, does that look good? In the sense hope the brightness of the diamonds (3.5mm each) doesn’t outshine the centre (6mm).

Let me know what you think

If you are worried about the brilliance of diamonds you could check out white sapphires.

Yes true, I have never seen white sapphires in person. I’ll try and find a couple.

@Gemobsessed I've been doing some searching for settings and what enhances the size of the center stone. I've come across "illusion settings."

This term applies to the octagon setting you refereed to as well as the buttercup setting and others. Many of these are antique or vintage styles. I am looking into these settings for my 5.75 mm stone. HTH

Oh I see ! Makes perfect sense. I have a few examples then that may fit this definition. I’ll upload them soon!
