the mama is proving quite difficult to capture. she takes off whenever we get close enough to take to picture. We did manage to get this one of her tail feathers up in the air. I've got hubby determined to catch her so we'll keep working on it..

Here's one of the mama

sorry if it's a little blurry. I had to crop the picture to get a close up of her..

Widget, the tail feathers are sticking straight up on the right side of the basket, middle of the picture, they are greyish but do kinda blend in.

hopefully you can see her better in this picture

Is that a bird mouth open? It''s hard for me to tell what''s going on in the pictures, they are a little dark for me. I LOVE the color of the eggs, so pretty!! My Mom has some birds, not sure what type, that nest in the eaves of their house and she is always feeding them and stuff, they have been there for a few years now. They had babies one year and you could hear them chirping in the nest as you walked by the side of the house.

Those are great pictures, thanks for sharing Mrssalvo!

I love the one with her behind feathers sticking up...too funny. Like she''s thinking ''alright she wants a picture of me well HEREYOUGO *butt feathers sticking up*''

I don''t know if someone mentioned this but the little babies sometimes fall out of the nest, it used to happen at my ex''s house all the time. So keep an eye out, it''s so sad to see the little babies out of the nest.

yep, the mouth is open in the picture. don''t know why it''s dark, there''s no sun but I used the flash. o-well, I''ll try to get some more pics later and see if I can make them brighter. the mama continully flies by me when I''m out there. I have to climb up on a stool and I don''t have a clear shot so I never know what I''m going to get.

Love the pic with its mouth open. So cute.

We had baby pigeons in a nest on a window sill across from my apt. Of course, whenever you tell another NYC''er about that, their response is "Ewwwwwwwwwww" but I thought they were cute.

Yes, put them back in the nest. But, if they hop out again - they may be flying the coup! My dilema was that I wasn''t sure what stage the little fella was at the point he "fell", hopped or was pushed out of the nest. On the safe side, I went ahead and put him back in the nest. Low and behold 10 minutes later he was back on the ground - with his siblings following shortly after! Evidently, they don''t fly right away. They sort of hop around and go from low bush to low bush. It''s how they learn to fly. It''s also a very dangerous time for them - so keep your cats or dog inside. They become your charge - I stood and "babysat" for as long as I could.

BTW, the best way I found to put them back in was to scoop them up quickly with an your hands in oven mitts.

Those are wonderful pictures mrssalvo!!! Thanks for posting them for us. Keep us up to date on how those chicks are doing.

Thanks you guys. the other babies have hatched but I haven''t been able to get a good picture. I''ll keep trying though. I love walking outside and hearing the babies.
