Obvious enough why the center looked somewhat different & brighter: it is a symmetrical, classic rose cut, as opposed to the randomly faceted smaller sides. [not a double-rose as I had imagined].

I am admiring the design of the little sides, truth be told. Wouldn't mind if they grew keeping their shapes ,-)

Seriously!! I was happy to see the shapes in the pics-- sure wish they were all bigger!!' Thanks for the info on the cut. This was a random and impulsive purchase.
