it was her natural size. see some dresses of that time (exhibition from Buckingham Palace summer openings)

any thoughts of any other royal sceneries.
I love your link, and it is very interesting to see how out of touch with the main fashion streams the dresses of both, HM Queen ELizabeth the Queen Mother, or HM QEII always are. They remain objects of my fascination over the last 40 decades.
Only the fact, that all of the designers always cater to the royal ladies' comfort, has made some of the dresses and gowns produced over the years, very boxy and disproportional IMO. I believe, there's nothing like a little bit smaller cut, for creating a chic "French"look.
But I do understand the objective of the Royal Job.
Also,I always regret that the stunning aquamarines where not used in a better design.
They always remind me of my grand mother, she wore hers often.I wonder if HMQ Beatrix wears roughly cut aquamarines in this portrait?
I also think these are aquamarines

And I tend to belive this. True or not, that's how I imagine a real Queen. And that's what Queen Elizabeth was for me. The same goes to her elder daugther.

here's some of my favorites of the late Queen Elizabeth - the rubies came back to light during the visit to Oman last year
