"The monarch's ring also features a three carat round-cut diamond and 10 smaller ones set in platinum - taken from a tiara belonging to Prince Philip's mother, Princess Princess Alice of Battenberg, and crafted by jewellers Philip Antrobus Ltd in 1947. "

I love her engagement ring. I wonder who it will be passed on to when she passes on? Does it become part of the 'collection' owned by the reigning monarch or does she get to choose who inherits it?

i just hope it stays in the main line !
especially with the diamonds coming from Prince Philip's mother

Interesting question re The Queens Engagement ring.
It feels uncomfortable to think about why it would be passed down...but... as it’s hers ‘personally’ rather than ‘part of her ?State jewellery in her role as Queen’, I imagine she can choose who it goes to.
It is a wonderful ring and is also part of an amazing journey through her life and history....I wonder who she’d like to have it?

I agree because there is certainly a lot of history there, but then when I think about it, they are all boys. It’s a lovely thing for a daughter or granddaughter to wear jewellery that has been passed down the maternal line. I remember my mother fondly every time I slip her ring onto my finger.

Really not something I need to worry about :lol-2:

Yes. She has four children but only one of them is a girl, so you would think perhaps she would pass it on to Anne. However the history of the ring and the fact that she has been on the throne so long and has done a pretty good job of it makes it a very important piece of jewellery. You would hope it would get handed down the line, but again the first borns are all boys.

I think she will have enough sense to not do what Queen Victoria did.
