Royal Jewels

oh @prince.of.preslav im too greedy for Cam to be bare headed on the way to the abby

i was just thinking this is the first corrination in well over 100 years that the new soverign will not have a living parent much less a parent at the actual corrionation

I bet she'll follow the example of previous queens consort and her only head gear will be the coronation crown.

I think I saw an article somewhere that said that Charles has decided to bestow the title of Duchess of Edinburgh on Charlotte in the near future, rather than Duke & Duchess of Edinburgh on Edward and Sophie.

That was speculation by the press, not based on sources or any real information.
Charlotte is destined to become Princess Royal in her father reign and I doubt she'll receive a peerage for a number of reasons.

@Daisys and Diamonds the Princess Royal title is for life, so it is not free to go to Charlotte until after Princess Anne's death.

It was this reason why Anne was not the Princess Royal until she was nearly 40 until Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood died.

I reckon Anne will live until her 90s at least!

DK :))

Mary died in 1965, Anne wasn't created Princess Royal until 1987. The title had been vacant for more than 20 years at the time, but Elizabeth II wanted her daughter to earn it. And she did!

Oops, I did not check when Mary died and wrongly assumed Anne was given the title shortly after she died, DOH!

DK :oops2:

there was quite a long gap between Anne becoming Princess Royal and Princess Mary passing away
and yes, Anne has very good genes

i love you Birgitte

She was arguably the best bejeweled lady tonight with her huge SS pearl necklace, ruby and pearl drop earrings and Art Deco rock crystal clips, but those shoes?! Please let them retire early. They ruin the look and make me gag. Really!

Speaking of Birgitte, I've totally missed her attending the Speedo x Hope for Youth Charity Swim Gala Dinner three weeks ago. The Duchess wore some of lovely cabochon emeralds ands pearls at the event.

I love guessing games, even if they turn into a mere wish list!

Camilla - bare-headed on the way to the Abbey, then Queen Elizabeth's Crown
The Princess of Wales - CLK, though I hope for Granny's tiara or Fringe
Princess Royal - her festoon parure
Princess Beatris - Fringe or York tiaras
Princess Eugenie - Emerald Kokoshnik or York tiara
Ctss of Wessex - tricky one! The aquamarine tiara is her largest, but her wedding tiara has so much history dating back to Queen Victoria. I'd bet on her wedding tiara, since I doubt coloured stones will be worn.
Dss of Gloucester - Honeysuckle tiara (worn at the previous coronations)
Dss of Kent won't attend. Probably Lady St. Andrews might be the +1 and wear the diamond and pearl fringe.
Princess Alexandra - her floral tiara
Princess Michael - the fringe. It has a history of being worn at coronations

Zara - wedding meander tiara
Lady Sarah - her wedding floral tiara
Laura Lopes - her mother's floral tiara

Foreign royals:
Mary of Denmark - the pearl parure. It has always been worn by whoever represented the family at the British coronation.
Victoria of Sweden - the Braganza has been worn at coronations before, but maybe the Baden fringe
Mette-Marit of Norway - please bring the emerald parure for its 3rd coronation in a row
Amalia of the Netherlands - the antique pearl tiara or possibly the emeralds. Her uncle and aunt might attend as well, in which case we might see the wreath tiara.
Spain - not sure who will attend, maybe Infanta Elena? Then it will be the Marichelar tiara.
Belgium - Possibly Princess Astrid will tag along with the Savoy-Aosta tiara. Elisabeth will wear her own tiara.
Monaco - the pearl drop tiara on Princess Caroline.
Sophie of Liechtenstein - fringe tiara (and I hope the beautiful sapphires!)

Marie-Chantal of Greece - Queen Sophia's large diamond tiara or the ruby parure as an exclusive loan.

Maybe countries like Jordan will also have an official representation. I guess Hussein might even be married by then! The Crown Princess of Brunei has a lovely scroll tiara. The Crown Princess of Japan will wear her parure.

That said, whoever attends, I hope they'll keep the white tie and tiaras dress code at least for the home and foreign royals. I don't need to see Prinsjesdag moved to Westminster Abbey

Correct me if I'm wrong: no other monarchs attend the Coronation?

Yes, I've read that too. I respectfully disagree. The promise made on Edward's wedding day should be upheld.

i belave this is true
maybe its a protocole thing
so no one overshadows the new soverign

kind of good manners ? like how the BRF send Sophie and Edward to foreign royal weddings, and Kate doesnt wear a new dress to other bride's weddings

i am very sad over this also
but i dont like to critize the king
there is still plenty of time

It's very cold and icy, so she is being sensible with her choice of footwear!

Monarchs do not attend coronations as far as I am aware, the next in lines attend instead.

DK :))

Yes. Although I did read that Commonwealth ones can attend, hence Queen Salothe being there in 1953.

ah that exspalins that
because HM was such a hit with the British public, leaving her carrage top down in the rain
i look forward to seeing her descendants at the corrination then
