Royal Jewels

Does the color of the sash represent anything?

Does the color of the sash represent anything?

I believe it is part of the order/insignia.

In UK, we have different sashes for different orders.

The light blue moiré ribbon has been used far too long for anyone to actually know. I mean, they are not even sure why the badge of the highest Danish order has an elephant, let alone the story behind the colour of the ribbon.

At any rate this is one of the most beautiful and exquisite orders of chivalry around, IMO. It certainly has a place on Pricesope ;)

Quite a contrast to how the Brits celebrated the coming of age of their future monarchs as far as I can remember.

The King's investiture as Prince of Wales was a day time affair, and the same is expected for William's, which I hope will be soon!

DK :))

ive been thinking about that too
maybe because tradionally we had 21sts
i had a really big one because my dad was sick and mum and dad had lots of their friends there, so i got awsome presents (not that i had a 21st to get presents)
its a bit sad they seem to have got a little outdated nowdays, kids prefering to just have a p*ss up at the pub
my couisn had an 18th at home with all the kids from school and when i say all i mean the entire year, kids who wernt even her friends, the garden was complety wrecked, i rememebr my dad saying the hedge looked worse that the terraces at Carisbrook (rugby/cricket ground) after a big match, so there was so way i was going to have an 18th

i mean not that im a Brit but we naturally share a lot of tradtions
I rememberr Zara having a big 21st which the Queen attended

i rememebr seeing an excellant write up on it on the court jewler when Prince Philip died, as when the person passes away the order returns to the crown
i wonder if the Danes will keep his one for Prince William ?

Quite the surprise in London tonight as TM the King and Queen attended a dinner at Mansion House!

Is it too soon for Camilla to be wearing the GGBI??????

And are those QEII's South African Diamonds?

So please to see Queen Camilla wearing the late QEII's favourite tiara.

However, deep down, I had hope to see the Princess Royal wearing it.

I guess leaving it to Queen Camilla will ensure it stays in the family for the future generations. Can't wait to see Catherine wearing it!

DK :kiss2:

Just realised, the Queen was also wearing the late QEII's birthday diamond necklace!!!

DK :kiss2:

I wish the Royal Family in the UK would set up some sort of jewellery foundation like they do in other notable royal houses in Europe, so that they can share their many significant pieces by their extended family.

DK :))

Whatever happened to the chunky diamond bracelet Megan Markle wore on her right wrist on her wedding day?I thought it was stunning. . I never see her wear it. Was it a loan? I thought it was a wedding gift from then Prince Charles. And ,she does not wear her engagement ring anymore. Wonder why as she wears the Cartier watch And the Welsh gold wedding band.

not wanting to read too much into it but i reacon when she changed the band of her ER it became too dainty (although very sparkly) for a daily wear, i mean the duchess is not known for listening to advice
was that the cartier watch that was Princess Diana's ?, well every time she wears that she gets coloum inches
also i think England would be like NZ and you generally keep one's wedding band on, Prince Harry might just prefer that she wears it

i dont recall the bracelet, but Charles has a good eye for jewlery,

It's a beautiful bracelet indeed!
I have a few theories, but they are just speculation:
- she doesn't wear the bracelet because it comes from Charles
- it remained in the UK - a country she's hardly visited in the last 3 years
- she finds it too lavish to wear at her current type of events
- a combo of either three

As for the rings... I rather liked the simplicity of the original e-ring. It had the deeper meaning of family and heirloom diamonds. Not's just piece of flashy jewelry and too fragile to wear.
The aquamarine ring is stunning and one of my favourites from Diana's jewels. I last saw it worn at the Ripple of Hope Award Gala. I believe that was last December, so almost an year ago. There are some photos here.

Thank you everyone for posting with fabulous photos.Bracelet looks like channel set baguettes in a twisted rope style. Never seen such a close up photo. She has a diamond tennis bracelet with two sizes of round diamonds that she wears and was supposedly Diana’s.

Here is another photo of the bracelet, and the description:

Meghan also wore a dramatic Reflection de Cartier diamond bracelet. The rendition of the jewel on the Cartier website is composed of 18K white gold, set with 104 brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 4.50 carats, and with 52 baguette-cut diamonds totaling 5.61 carats.

that would be so insulting to the King if that was the reason, he would have taken pleasure in picking it out and given it with love in his heart
too bad it wasnt given to Chelsy Davey

it is so tiresome not being able to cut and paste pictures from the daily mail (and others) without doing a screen shot

Last night the Norwgian royal family hosted the annual gala dinner for the members of the Storting (the Norwegian Parliament)

The Queen wore her pearl uniform - (the replica of) Queen Maud's pearl tiara, the Drapers' Company Brooch, pearl choker, drop earrings and bracelet:

The Crown Princess wore pieces from her amethyst parure:

Princess Astrid decided to mix and match . She wore her ruby aigrette with diamond collet necklace, bow brooch and pearl drop earrings:
