Royal Jewels

While everyone's focus yesterday was on the grownups and their jewels, the little ones provided some sparkle too!

Princess Isabella wore her most important jewel - Queen Alexandrine's triangular pearl and diamond brooch with conch pearl pendant. It was a christening gift from Queen Margrethe, who herself received it on her christening from her grandmother.

Princess Josephine wore a pair of rose quartz pendant earrings from her mother's collection and a dainty pearl necklace. Quite chique for a 13 year-old!

It was Crown Prince Christian's choice of bejeweled accessories, however, that really caught my eye! HRH wore a pair of blue stone (sapphire?) and gold cufflinks that had belonged to his grandfather, the ever-so-stylish Prince Henrik!

That is a very poignant photo for me, possibly my favourite of all the ones I have seen; on par with the last known photo of the late QE II.

The Queen of Denmark attended a reception at the Folketing, Denmark’s parliament, at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen on January 15, 2024, wearing the Connaught Sapphire Brooch. (It happened to be the 142nd birthday of Margaret of Connaught). Queen Ingrid inherited the brooch from her mother, Crown Princess Margareta, and later passed it on to her daughter, Queen Margrethe. In 2006, Queen Margrethe gave the brooch to Queen Mary as a present to celebrate the baptism of her son, Crown Prince Christian. (Information from the Court Jeweller website).

Queen Margrethe of Denmark attends a reception at the Folketing, Denmark’s parliament, at Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen on January 15, 2024. She is wearing her gold and diamond VC&A Waterfall Earrings, together with the Connaught Pearl Bar Brooch. The brooch has been passed down through generations of the Connaught family. It originally belonged to Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia, wife of the Duke of Connaught and mother of Princess Margaret, Prince Arthur, and Princess Patricia of Connaught. The youngest child, Princess Patricia, inherited the brooch from her mother. In 1958, Lady Patricia gifted the brooch to her great-niece, Queen Margrethe, as an eighteenth-birthday present. (Information from the Court Jeweller website).

I have an idea for a new tiara. Working on sourcing materials. I need something with blue stones.

Tiaras all the time of course! I'm still wearing them to school every Monday!

It's been a little crazy here with the cold and freezing rain. The heir to the estate had 3 pipes burst at his current residence, so we've been helping him with that. He's still waiting for some repairs before we can move him back in to his place.
