State Visit of the Month #2 - France hosts Belgium

Not much to talk about, since French state banquets don't allow for much bling. Queen Mathilde managed to sneak in some goodies at the Elysée, tough, including a new pair of Art Deco earrings and a diamond butterfly:

The wattle brooch is a nice and expected choice for the visit. I'm surprised by the lack of evening engagements during the visit so far :(

At a reception in Berlin's Schloss Belvedere today, the Queen of Denmark is wearing a very important family heirloom for the first time - a bracelet of 213 pearls with the portrait of Augusta, Duchess of Leuchtenberg surrounded by 3 rows of diamonds. The bracelet dates at least to the time of Queen Josephine of Sweden and is part of the entailed family collection.

Samoa dont have an armed forces so this was the police
if i remember correctly from school how Samoa ended up in the commonwealth was NZ won it in WW1 it off the Germans and then adminstrated it for the UN until the 60's when it was given its indapendence
If you frequent a Samoan bakery you will see the German influence

i rather like the PM's tradional necklace, im not sure what the badge is on her collar

As Hello! magazine noted, the accessory was a gift from the Royal Australian Corps of Military Police (RACMP). The present held a special meaning because Queen Camilla is the regiment’s Colonel-in-Chief, and this was her first time visiting the country since assuming the position. By pinning the brooch to her dress, she subtly honored the RACMP throughout the day’s activities.

For government worker Salome Tuivasa, it has been a learning experience.

“I now know the difference between the New Zealand flag from the Australian flag after putting up our village preparations and I can also identify about 20 countries flag from Chogm,” says Tuivasa.

He said about the honour bestowed on Charles: “We hope that the King takes a small part of Samoa away with him.

“Once he has the title of Tui-Taumeasina we also become part of him and he will be connected to our people and our lands forever.”

The Polynesian country of Samoa is highly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change including tropical cyclones and storm surges, flooding, and more severe and longer-lasting droughts like other Small Island Developing States.

Moata’a village was chosen to welcome the royals after the area was badly affected by flooding in 2018 and in response the community’s council developed a plan for future natural disasters and has established a mangrove conservation area which the King visited.
in Moata’a village its chief Tofaeono Lupati Fuatai urged the monarch to “take a small part of Samoa away” with him after he was made Tui Taumeasina or King of Taumeasina.

Villagers gathered for the ceremony, similar to the earlier event, and later the chief spoke of his admiration for the King and his efforts to highlight climate change throughout his life.

The chief said: “The King is the perfect advocate for us as a nation. Climate change is real, it is now and we must urge the world to acknowledge how perilous it is for nations such as ours.”
