Ladies and Gentlemen,

To be in Poland on International Holocaust Remembrance Day, as we commemorate eighty years since the liberation of Auschwitz, is both a sombre and indeed a sacred moment.

It is a moment when we recall the six million Jews, old and young, who were systematically murdered, together with Sinti, Roma, disabled people, members of the L.G.B.T. community, political prisoners, and so many others upon whom the Nazis inflicted their violence and hatred.

It is a moment when we recall the depths to which humanity can sink when evil is allowed to flourish, ignored for too long by the world.

And it is a moment when we recall the powerful testimonies of Survivors such as Lily Ebert, who so sadly passed away in October, and who
collectively taught us to cherish our freedom, to challenge prejudice and never to be a bystander in the face of violence and hate.

In a world that remains full of turmoil and strife, and has witnessed the dangerous re-emergence of antisemitism, there can be no more important message – especially as the United Kingdom holds the
Presidency of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance.

As the number of Holocaust Survivors regrettably diminishes with the passage of time, the responsibility of remembrance rests far heavier on our shoulders, and on those of generations yet unborn.

The act of remembering the evils of the past remains a vital task and in so doing, we inform our present and shape our future.

Here in Krakow, from the ashes of the Holocaust, the Jewish community has been reborn.

And there is no greater symbol of this rebirth than the Jewish Community Centre, in which we are gathered here today.

Standing on the steps of this wonderfully vibrant Centre some seventeen years ago, having encouraged its construction and taken immense pride in opening it, I was filled with a sense of hope
and optimism at the life and energy that coursed through the building.

So, returning today, along with World Jewish Relief, of which I am extremely proud to be Patron, that sense of hope and optimism has only grown.

With their support, together with other generous benefactors, this Centre has blossomed from the bud of an idea into an essential hub for the community.

Ladies and gentlemen, in a post-Holocaust world, projects such as this Centre are how we recover our faith in humanity.

They also show us there is much work still to be done if we are not just to remember the past, but to use it to inspire us to build a kinder and more compassionate world for future generations; a world of which we can be truly proud.

And this remains the sacred task of us all.

@LadyMaria is that you on the court jeweller ?

Princess Catherine on Holocaust Memorial Day 01/27/2025 at Guildhall in London: she wore a vintage faux pearl necklace (@Susan Caplan)
Susan+Caplan.pngwatch-now-kate-and-william-meet-holocaust-survivors.jpgprincess-kate.jpg

you found good pictures, i wasnt sure how to tackle this particular day, it is just such a sad day i found it hard to know what pictures to use as those pictures Catherine took of the survivers and their grandchildren in 2020 were just so beautiful

i have mixed opinions of the foux necklace, and im not sure how rhodium plated can be vintage? perhaps as Swarovski do not wholesale anymore they are vintage 'pearls'
i very much did love the 5 strand style and i understand her wanting to show support of a Jewish owned firm
but that company is younger than me and i would not call myself vintage
but if HRH enjoyed wearing them we may see her shop the BRF pearl vaults one day but i am worried that Catherine is pigeon holing pearl necklaces as mourning where as our late Queen made them every day wear

So here is what Daisy is referring to....

A museum here has a traveling exhibit that is called "All That Glitters: The Crown Jewels of the Walt Disney Archives." I sent some pictures to another well known jewel blog and she used them for an article. It was all about costume jewels and dresses from Disney. Here is a sampling....enjoy!PD1.jpgPD2.jpgPD3.jpgPD4.jpgPD5.jpgPD6.jpgPD7.jpg

It appears that Anna Wintour may have acquired the necklace at auction, as she was seen wearing it at the Golden Age of Couture party at London's V&A Museum in 2007

How do you impress the King? Arrive at Buckingham Palace in a Prince of Wales check suit and a necklace once belonging to his great-grandmother.

That's exactly what Dame Anna Wintour did on Tuesday when she accepted her honours.

The legendary editor-in-chief of American Vogue was made a Companion of Honour in the 2023 King's Birthday Honours list for her contributions to fashion.

True to her impeccable style, she wore a custom Alexander McQueen spring/summer 2025 draped skirt suit.

However, it was her striking amethyst necklace that captured the attention of royal watchers.

Once part of an opulent parure - comprising a tiara, necklace, earrings and a brooch - the piece traces its origins to Queen Charlotte, wife of King George III.

The collection was passed down to Queen Charlotte's daughter, Princess Charlotte, who married Frederick I, King of Württemberg. Although the couple had no children together, Frederick had a son, William, from a previous marriage.

William's daughter, Catherine, was a cousin of Queen Mary's father, the Duke of Teck. In 1898, she bequeathed the parure to Mary.

David and Victoria Beckham lead celebrities attending dazzling royal dinner hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla to promote Anglo-Italian relations

David and Victoria Beckham were the 'bellissimi' of the ball tonight at a dazzling royal dinner to promote Anglo-Italian relations.

The former England footballer, who played twice for AC Milan, and his fashionista wife were surprise guests amongst a slew of celebrities at Highgrove, the King's private home in Gloucestershire, including designer Donatella Versace and actor Stanley Tucci.

Beckham was last year announced as an ambassador of the King's Foundation, the charity's which runs Highgrove, and has even had private meetings there with His Majesty, bonding over a shared love of the countryside and, surprisingly, bee-keeping.

ok this dinner makes sense now

the King and Queen will travel to Italy and Vatican City for an official state visit this spring, Buckingham Palace has confirmed.

Charles and Camilla will undertake engagements in Rome and Ravenna in early April, with the trip likely to coincide with the couple's 20th wedding anniversary on 9 April.

The visit will celebrate the "strong bilateral relationship between Italy and the UK," the palace says.

HM undertook a light engagement as she eased back in, opening a new exhibition at the Queen Sonja Art Stable. The exhibition, named At the King's Table, celebrates the ceramics and tableware used in the Norwegian palaces, with some pieces dating back to 1815.
Queen Sonja was joined by her son, Crown Prince Haakon, and her sister-in-law, Princess Astrid, for the opening.

It was a very beautiful and romantic ceremony. Very private too (there were only 70 guests).
I attach another photo of HRH Prince Nicolaos of Greece with his bride, Princess Chryssi, from their wedding ceremony. The princess is pictured wearing Queen Anna-Maria's "Antique Corsage tiara", a beautiful pair of diamond earrings and a diamond tennis bracelet, stacked with a thin gold bracelet.
She also wore her engagement ring (not pictured in the photo) which was a total surprise and the absolute manifestation of simplicity (a white gold ring, without precious stones, totally in line with the bride's overall minimalistic style). It was a big surprise because all daughters in law of Queen Anna-Maria were proposed to with blue sapphire rings which, either belonged to the Queen herself or were handcrafted with precious stones that came from the Queen's collection. I really hope that we will get more information about the story behind princess Chryssi's ER! Also, i wish i could find a clear photo of the ER but so far there aren't any! Hopefully soon!
The princess' wedding ring was a yellow gold wedding band.

They are a beautiful and very private couple and we are delighted for them!
