Sending ring to Lockes. Need advice!

Regarding wearing your ring on honeymoon: I know you want to wear your rings on your honeymoon because of the glow of being newly married and all. But I would not recommend wearing the rings on the beach, in the ocean, or even in the pool. Such activity increases risk of loss. And sunscreen is the devil for jewelry (and nail polish for that matter). And if the trip is going to be mostly beachy times, then maybe leave the ring(s) at home. But I know that''s not really ideal...

Anyway, I wore my rings at the ocean on a trip once (because I didn''t trust leaving them at home, nor in the safe--because people tend to forget things in hotel safes), and they were ruined for the whole trip. Whatever was going on there (Hilton Head Island) with the water, sand, ocean salt, sunscreen, etc., my rings had this disgusting film on them that absolutely would not wash off. I tried soap and water with a brush, soaking, etc. Nothing worked, and I was so disappointed with the way my rings looked--no fire and sparkle because of that unremoveable film. It took several rounds in an ultrasonic machine at the jewelers to come clean. Sounds like a silly thing to be disappointed about, but I am obsessive about cleaning my jewelry.

Hope your re-make goes well and to your satisfaction.

Sunkist,

I just saw this posting and also Demelza''s! I''m sorry for both of your experiences. That is really unfortunate and I''d find it upsetting as well. I personally have not had a problem with my Locke''s setting but really hope they get your ring fixed ASAP.
Please keep us updated. So Maria no longer works there? The last time I spoke with her was to get a quote on the wedding bands but that was a few months ago.

I''m really so glad you didn''t have any problems with your setting, DL! It''s such a lovely ring.

No, Maria is no longer with the company. I was told she was let go a month ago.

I think it's best that you're not resizing now. You might feel differently when you're wearing both rings together.

I like my rings a little loose, so I wear a size 6. When my fingers are at their smallest I can get them off without my other hand with enough hand flopping and pushing with my thumb. OK, I just did it now and I don't think my fingers are all that small right now. But I just hate the feeling of a tight ring. It makes me feel claustrophic. My sister-in-law can't get her rings off, and I live in fear that will happen to me one day. And who knows, maybe one day I'll be in some sort of Nancy Drew or Columbo situation where I have to remove my rings with one hand.

Also, I'm sorry to be so judgmental, but I don't like the look of tight rings that pinch your finger in. It always makes me think "sausage fingers," no matter how thin or fat the finger is. Of course, the opposite effect is that my rings are always tilted diagonally. But the solitaire is usually where it's supposed to be.

I put my friend's rings on the other day, and they're 5 1/4, so who knows what size I really am.

I wouldn't wear my rings in the ocean either. Now that I have a new diamond band, I wear my old plain band alone to the beach. Even then, I put it on my middle finger where it's tight and a little uncomfortable if I'm going swimming.
