Setting inspiration needed - solitaire in yellow gold

That’s so weird, definitely my stone you recognised that very well from a blurry photo! I love yours it looks gorgeous!
I love both those options either will look amazing (which ever it might be!)

Lol I guess it's because it was posted around the same time as my stone and trust me I've gone back looking at it almost daily hahaha I had considered getting the antique cushion but I preferred the facet pattern of the old mine cut. I am addicted to Alex's page too, it's so bad lol.

OMG you have already posted and I just asked you on your other thread (hangs head in shame) apologies I don’t know how I missed it I will look now. I asked the right person though!

@Cerulean I love them all. They are just what I was after! Will any of them work with the type of setting I want which is not as bulky that’s the question....

2, 5, 7 are my favourites.

Hmm- your inspiration setting seems to have some width and is not teeny tiny - I would guess it’s 2.5mm and maybe tapers to 3mm? I think nailing down the CAD might help inform engraving design. I think #7 might require more real estate especially...

I’ve seen DK produce really detailed engraving on thinnish bands! Like here:

And here - 2nd from the top in last two images looks similar to the 2nd style you liked!

Back to your setting suggestion, what about this one?

Sorry I missed your post somehow. It’s lovely and I have admired it. However I think a key part of the design is the blackened bit which I like but I don’t want that look for this particular ring.

Yes I know he does do engraving but I guess I want something a little more free flowing.
Yes I think the real estate could be the fly in the ointment I don’t want to make a big bezelled design though because I want to stack.
This is the cad. I want 10/12 prongs rather than 8. I’ve also asked for the shoulders to curve inwards more as well. Other than that it’s pretty much what I am after.

What do you think?
I love the idea of having a raised design with some flowers and then lots swirling engraving and extra detail to the flowers.
@maryjane04 your input would be welcome too!

Not to inundate you - the other one that made me think of you is this one - it combines the leafy / foliage elements with the scrollwork style you seem to be drawn to:

Looking at them again my heart belongs to number 7. I love it.

I like it but I want flowers as well I think, I love gardening and being in gardens is one of my favourite things in the world so that feels quite right. It’s just whether it can be fitted on in a way that doesn’t compromise any design too much or give me a ring that looks too bulky for what I’m after.

Oh how exciting! I think it could work, if you got the one flower instead of two in a row?

Honestly, number 7 is stunning!!! I am with you - floral motifs are my all time favorite. I had never seen anything quite like it.

Would you consider beefing up the shank a smidge to provide more real estate? You might not need to, it something to consider. The inspo band is 6.5mm wide

You could scale the design down in general.

I think it’s definitely worth asking for. I’ve had it pinned for a while - here are other angles of if it to help determine placement:

I think it will be different it will just take the elements - I definitely would like two flowers together think three may not fit. What do you think about my idea of having a raised pattern and then engraving on the top? Or do you think just engraving?

I don’t think I want to make it bigger I will think about it. Do you think just engraving or raised design wig engraving?

I really like the raised look, personally. I think that’s what makes the flowers so special! I’d ask DK what’s doable! It looks the “negative space” between the pattern has a texture to it, almost mottled which I think is an important detail. Could be achieved similarly with a matte or brushed texture.

I’m also very visual and have one other ring bookmarked with carved raised flowers next to an OMC - this one also has a different texture in the negative space but it’s harder to see...but just so you can imagine them together...it was in the Romanov Russia archives...

Omg those carved/raised flowers are beautiful!!! I'm with you, ask DK what's doable. My original setting was really thick prior to engraving and I ended up scaling it back and making the band thinner.

@Cerulean , yes that’s lovely I think they are pansies on both rings. I agree on the mottled finish it’s on this hand and makes it I think. EB0E588C-A8DF-4832-9B3A-C3AA6F503CD4.png

Yes that is exactly it - it definitely has more of a patina, but the mottled finish in a matte texture, and high polish raised florals...could be beautiful. (anyways, that is what I would probably do)

So hang on you are thinking not just to engrave the mottled texture?

I'd raise the floral motif if you can in addition! Is that what you mean to ask?

I have sent David an email so fingers crossed he can do something with it!

@meely and @maryjane04 I cannot wait to see your finished rings!

Me too! I’m anxiously awaiting my next email! I’ve made things more complicated by mentioning I will want to do a ring guard at some point in the future so he is trying to figure that out at the same time!

Is he also doing the cocktail ring that you mentioned?

Yes - he is doing a big emerald cut amethyst I got from Moriarty Gems with a halo, Art Deco style. It will be big!

This solitaire

I also bought two stones from Mastercut Gems, a ruby and a yellow sapphire (which I have a thread about). The ruby is a no go, I need to spend a lot I think to get what I want, so that might be a project for my 40th a few years. The sapphire I have now decided to do a three stone with a double milgrain bezel, just waiting for my quote back with crossed fingers!

I'm glad I am not the only one juggling multiple projects. I have DK resetting the stone from my e-ring, a project from Daniel M that just shipped, and now I'm looking at this emerald (which I need like I need a hole in the head). Thank goodness for PS to make me not feel so bad about it!!

Yeah as long as you don’t talk to any of your real life peeps you’re good!
