Settings for Gene’s (Precision Gem) stones

Here's my Tajik spinel, set in a Stuller setting with 3 diamonds on each side by my local jeweler. I went with rose gold and it came out great with the vivid pink stone. The flowers are water lotus, pink coneflower, and hydrangea "limelight".

Thanks for the setting ideas, @elle_71125 ! This is the largest gemstone I own and I feel lucky to have acquired it.

I'm including a photo in UV light taken through my loupe to show the strong fluorescence of the spinel. It's an interesting effect! The stone changes a lot in different light, which is something I enjoy. The hand shot, with a little more sun, is closer to the color I usually see.

I love it! The rose gold was a great choice and the setting really lets the spinel shine, while still proving a little bling factor. :cool2::love: It looks absolutely gorgeous on you.

Interesting stone and a beautiful ring! It looks fantastic.

Thanks for the compliments, @elle_71125 and @natasha-cupcake ! I'm so happy you like how it came out!
I meant to include a side shot of the setting. My jeweler called it a waterfall design. Here it is:

That's a seed pod from the lotus in the picture. They are so cool!

It felt like a “The hills have eyes” moment for this girl. :confused2::lol:

It looks gorgeous from the profile view too!

I love it. It's ladylike perfection, so genteel and understated in its simplicity and elegance.

I love the profile of the setting, and the pictures with the lotus!

How do you get to be near an actual lotus plant? I don't know anyone in the US/Canada who has one in their backyard. You need a 6ft+ deep pond to grow them!

Love your new profile pic @voce
Do you have more pics of that red oval halo ring?

Thanks Elle :mrgreen2:
The red oval halo ring is my ruby e-ring, which I've posted pics of before, but my phone camera that I took those photos with really doesn't do it justice, because the vivid red in daylight that I see with my eyes shows up as pink. The new profile pic is one I took with my DF's phone. We're doing a long distance thing until the wedding, but I'm currently visiting him for some weeks, and will try to take some more pictures of my rings and gemstones (including a paraiba from Yvonne!) next weekend.

I look forward to seeing them. :)

Thank you, @Burmesedaze ! I love it when the proportions come out balanced.

@voce I learned a trick from one of my gardener friends. If you have a lot of weeds, just take closeup pics, and no one will know. The previous owner of our house built a humble goldfish pond out of concrete. It’s about 10’ x 20’ and 2’ at the shallow end down to about 4’ deep. For some reason I have had terrible luck with water lilies but the lotuses have done great. They are out to take over the world and I occasionally have to prune the tubers back and throw the compost under the blueberry bushes. I would highly recommend to anybody USDA zone 6 or higher to grow a year-round water garden. I let the goldfish get eaten by raccoons, and now the frogs and salamanders and dragonflies have taken over. I really enjoy watching the tadpoles and the change in seasons.

While I had contemplated setting this 5.6mm unheated Kenyan sapphire into a flower ring designed by MRose, she did not respond to my request/inquiry on Etsy, and when I saw a 5.5mm setting on LT I snatched it up, since I didn't want to wait to set the sapphire. It was my first purchase from Precision Gem, and also my first time setting a stone into a 14k WG semi-mount.

@voce I can't believe that stone is 5.6mm! It looks very mighty! I have a soft spot for teal sapphires! Give me that over normal blue any day!

It looks great! The sapphire was just made for that setting. Love it!

Thanks for the compliments @mellowyellowgirl @elle_71125 @lilmosun (this stone represents my initiation into precision-cut gems and DIY). I was very attracted to the custom 5-pointed-star cut. The only complaint I have about the stone is that when there's not enough light, or when the light hits it the wrong way (i.e. from the side, not top) the stone looks primarily gray with some teal flashes. That's when I have to tell myself "think of this as color shifting sapphire"--wishful thinking, perhaps!

It’s incredible! Don’t worry about the different lighting bit I say. Part of what I love about CS is the constant changes.! And I keep looking for the amazing moments :)

Wow, voce, your ring came out amazing! I love the color! I definitely think it would be worth putting up with some moodiness to get to enjoy that perfect teal. Yum!!! I have a sky blue Montana sapphire, and it also gets a bit of a gray cast in some light. I agree that it’s fun to watch the shifts in personality. I am hoping to snag one of Gene’s five-sided designs too one day. You’ve got a special combination! Enjoy!

That's a gorgeouus ring. The color looks beautiful in the pictures. I don't mind moody colors. Sometimes I'm moody!

I purchased this spinel earlier this year. I had been hounding Gene for a spinel, and he delivered! It's 8.3 mm, 2.7 ct., and gorgeous! Setting was done by Josh @Aurosi Jewels on etsy.

That stone does look larger than 5.6mm, voce! The LT setting suits it very well, what a lovely ring :-)

Love your pink spinel and I’m formally requesting more pics. I need more of this bubble gum goodness.

@MrsKMB your spinel ring came out beautifully! I love how the diamonds pick up the silvery, sparkly radiance!

Have anyone set any of the amazing stone’s from @elle_71125 ‘s thread about stones from Gene (Precision Gem)?

A stunning green concave cut tourmaline for @2Neezers in a refined setting. Please post some handshots!
@Acinom So sorry it slipped my mind to come back and post a hand shot! Better late than I never . I’m hoping Gene’s beautiful stone will detract from my dry, puffy hands :P2. The stone is much brighter in person, but since it’s an overcast day here today the lighting wasn’t the best for photos. It’s a 9x7 green/blue concave cut Afghan tourmaline.

Wow! Gorgeous ring and it looks stunning on you. I love the concave cut

I also have a 8.6mm Pink Garnet from Gene in an Aurosi Jewels setting. This stone looks pinkish indoors and in lower light, and purple in bright sun light.
