Maybe that should be a whole new thread, How much have you spent on jewelry/or saved on jewelry since PS!!!
Great idea, Kaleigh!

I'm quite confident that in many cases, what money is saved by finding a diamond online is more than eaten up by jewelry purchases, upgrades, etc etc, that come AFTER!!

I know, I saved a ton on my diamond eternity band then was so happy to have saved some money I went and bought diamond studs!!! This is very bad!!!! BUT FUN!!!

I actually found Leonid before I found PriceScope as he was an active poster on the other forum. His kind ways and integrity stood out to me and when I learned of his forum signed up to be an active participant. I think this was back in 2001-2002 sometime. I also respected the way in which he ran his forum in comparison keeping things strictly on an educational level and avoiding the unneccary drama that was happening elsewhere. While I am guilty of sticking my foot in my mouth from time to time (

), it is the consistency and quality of knowledge/information that keeps me coming back and the many kind people I''ve come to know along the way that has made it an awesome journey. I wish I had more time to participate but it''s important for me to keep a balance between posting and taking care of responsibilities here at our store.

PS rocks!

I found DT by searching for information concerning a starburst radiant about 3 years ago. I guess it was just a natural progression to learn more that I ended up being addicted to PS! I have learned so much, but I still feel I want help from everyone when the time comes this summer to buy.

Rhino,
I knew that you had met Leonid from the other forum. It's good to know about the history of PS, thanks for responding. We love your insightful remarks. Glad you had a nice vacation!!!

I was pretty much like a lot of the rest of the people here...stumbled on this site by accident while looking for ideas to reset some diamonds I already had. I lurked for a while after finding the site, and checked out pictures and stories of so many fabulous rings!

I''m still finding forums I didn''t know about almost every week. I think I''m getting addicted, too!

Google got me here, too.
I think I typed in "where to wear anniversary band". My first post was about what to do because my new anniv band was KILLING me-- UGH! And that led to trading that pain-in-the-finger in, an upgrade of my original wedding set, and now to a search for a new RB diamond and a custom setting for an inherited pear diamond. (BTW, two months ago, I was looking at 1.5cts... I am up to 2+ cts for the RB)

So hubby would argue against PS saving us any money at all.

It''s amazing all the projects I''ve been thinking of doing since I found PS. So many great ideas, so little money!!!

HI:

I believe I Googled "diamond education" and ended up here. In the early days I was a very infrequent lurker, and it took me at least 6 months before I realized there were not only other forums, but that folks PM''d each other and were hence, a long standing "community".

cheers--Sharon

Um, it involved a banning...

What else do you want to know?

Oy ... and what a history it''s been Kaleigh.

Overall it has really been great and the acquaintances/friendships I''ve developed over the years have been precisous to me. So much so that they douse out the minority of bad experiences that have occurred (try not to dwell on the bad). I''ve had the pleasure of being able to meet many different personalities within our trade too. Some who are just awesome and few that are a little more challenging.

I look forward to many more years of helping peeps and giving gemological advice when I can. I''ve been chilling here on the "hangout" lately cause I''m starting to apprecicate being able to just hang loose with my PS homies without always having to criticize diamonds (as this is all I do all day long at our biz).

Very cool thread too btw. It''s always interesting to hear how people found the forum. Belle''s is too funny!

Yeah I think belle is the only one who found PS through home remodeling!!! She deserves a star for that!!!

let's hear more stories!!

I know there are many long time PS members out there and we''d like to hear your stories too!!

I googled something about a chipped diamond I believe (my first e-ring had been chipped during setting). I''ve been addicted ever since
2.gif

I was on DT for a long time (maybe 4 years!?!?!?) and realized through a search of old threads that a lot of old DT people jumped over here. I actually was looking for a new wedding set....
11.gif

Now that I have my new eternity band and e-ring I told my husband I would stop looking at diamonds.

Jellybean,
I love your new eternity band and am looking forward to your new ring. I tell my husband that I am done diamond shopping too. But it''s fun to look!!!

Dave,
We love you cranky or not!!! Now has anyone been banned from PS, should I be scared???

I found PS when we were looking for my pear shaped diamond upgrade. I''d been looking at diamonds online and realized that I didn''t have a clue as to what made a well cut pear shaped diamond. I googled in something like "ideal proportions for pear shaped diamonds" and the link to the Price Scope tutorial came up. After doing some reading, I discovered the forums and started nosing around. I''d already discovered Diamond Talk''s forums but didn''t want to join because they asked for some credit card information which I didn''t see why they needed. No strings attached to jump in here at PS. Thanks Leonid!!

i found PS via a google search as well. as with most ''lost guys'' thinking of e-ring, and knowing better than to trust the salesperson, i turned to the net. and found you wonderful folks.

and now that i have the information i was looking for, i still check in every free minute to see what is going on with everyone here. it is not every day you find such an interesting and dynamic group of people.

Oh this is a good one!!

I was bored one night while online and decided to do a search on diamonds ( contemplating an uprgrade). I typed in "diamonds" on Yahoo search and came across Pricescope. I saw the "show me the ring" forum and started browsing and was blown away by some of the threads I saw on there!!

I was hooked!! I kept coming back and lurking for about a month before deciding to join in! My husband just kept rolling his eyes and laughing at me like "you''re on there again?!" and would tease me and say I was a pricescope addict!!
9.gif
. Finally, I just admitted it: HI MY NAME IS LISA AND I''M A PRICESCOPE ADDICT!!!!

Seriously though...I would LOVE to be as spoiled as Mrs. DF is!!!! Gimme that 3 ct honker and that 5 stone band!!!

Can''t even remember from that many posts ago... LOL !

I googled as well - most likely "sapphires" or "engagement rings". I ended up lurking DT for a few days - then when I found out that they wanted a credit card number for me to post - ??!!! - I went back to google and found PS ! Things have a way of working out for the best.

Irish Eyes,
I''m a Lisa too, and am a PS addict as well!!

What would we all do without Google?!
36.gif

I used to look at Shenoa on eBay. One day I could not find their site so I googled it. Up came a Pricescope discussion about Shenoa. I was hooked instantly.

jellybean, NEVER tell your husband that you are finished looking at diamonds.
9.gif

DancingFire...I googled "smart alec young man obsessed with diamonds" and it brought up you!

I used to go through phases of drooling over jewelry on the internet - usually timed to coincide with how serious whatever relationship I was in at the time was. I think I found Pricescope when a friend of mine got an engagement ring and I was kind of thrown by the fact that I couldn''t imagine wearing such a thing myself. I can''t describe it because I would be certain to offend many people on this forum. It was a gorgeous diamond and perfectly lovely setting, just not me AT ALL. So I started wondering if maybe diamonds weren''t for me after all. Then I found Pricescope and discovered (phew!) that there are tons of settings out there that would suit me just fine, thank you very much!
