SHOULD I ADD ROUND SIDES TO MY SOLITAIRE?

@CharlotteYork Sorry. I went back to my Loupetroop listing and found that the sides were ~.30 total so about 3mm with the 8mm center. Apologies.
I liked that ring but the 8mm center didn’t well work for me. Personally I love the baguette setting because I adore those long flashes of light beside the center.

I'm having a round with baguettes tester made right now as well! I love the long, sleek lines of the baguettes and how they add a quiet touch of sparkle... They also seem to enhance the center (and maybe even make it look a touch larger?) instead of competing with it's glory.

Testers have saved me so much heartache and a ton of money by ruling out ideas... I am so visual that I really just have to see it on my finger with the right proportions before I know if I will like it.

It definitely may not be the correct sizes... It was an Amazon purchase!

I'm going to take my Grandmother's ring to the jeweler this week and have them measure the stones... Here is a (terrible!) picture of my 3.10 next to one of the stones in her ring. This doesn't really give an accurate look though because there is a gold scallop around the stone that serves as a "halo" effect. So they are a bit smaller. I'm guessing .20-.25ish each... possibly up to .30 each. I would LOVE to use these... My grandmother wore this ring every day during the 50s and 60s and they sparkle like crazy!

Could be a plan for you! Will wait to hear what your jeweler thinks!

How large is this center stone?

Here's a few pics of mine with .53ct sides and .70ct sides (all diamonds are ACA's)
When I have mine reset, it's going to be with my .70ct sides.

I couldn't place side stones perfectly but at least you can get idea how various carat weights look in relation to the center stone.

My solitaire is 3.76ct so similar in size to yours.

My center stone is 3.10 carats. Your ring is going to be gorgeous!! I would love to have a true three-stone right hand ring someday, and these proportions are perfect. For my ER, I guess I really have a "dressed up solitaire" in mind, lol! I love the elegance of my current classic setting, but I've been longing for just a teeny tad more sparkle and pizazz.

I'm thinking of reaching out to Caysie of CvB... I'm obsessed with her Dahlia and am wondering if it can be modified to include my little side stones. It would look a lot like this one from her Etsy page, but with the small diamonds above the cathedral.

I love the metal "halo" effect of the crown and the vintage vibe, and imagine it would vaguely like the last two pictured below.









Thoughts???

I am sure she would discuss this with you and give you her thoughts. It would be a deviation from a typical three stone ring where the small side stones are tucked under the center stone. The halo would separate the center stone and not sure how she would incorporate the side stones into the flow - or maybe she would bezel them too? Not sure about how cohesive it would look - maybe like three separate stones. However, I am not the artist that she is so if you are interested in it, I would definitely reach out to her!
