Hi NoVA and DC PSers!

I just wanted to pop in to say that I may be moving up to the area soon! I have a job offer in Bethesda, but bf and I would like to move the in the District so we can experience city life

Anyone live in NW DC? Comments, suggestions?
Let me know when you come to town so I can take you around DC.

Hi lmurden,
My fiance and I are going to be taking a end of semester vaca to DC this weekend for three days. What is a nice restaurant you could recommend? He wants to go to the Palms but I''d prefer a restaurant exclusive to DC. Thanks!

Welcome to the area.

GemKlctr at our last gathering (not meaning to implicate him) did talk about maybe getting something together for NoVA; I think he''s been off for a few weeks, but may be either lurking or available to be called upon.

Warmest regards,
PnP75, belated welcome to NoVa.

You''re right Ira, I have been somewhat AWOL due to business travel and some other distractions, and I haven''t checked Hangout for weeks. Holiday schedules are always difficult, so it didn''t occur to me to see if a get-together made sense for this Chantilly show. If I go, it probably won''t be until Sunday, unless I can''t resist playing hooky on Friday. I believe there is another show in Chantilly February 17-19. That might be a better option to meet all the new NoVa residents in this thread.

DiamondLil, try not to buy up all of the best deals at the show (like your spinel setting) in case I need some last minute Xmas presents.

PnP75, BTY, sorry the weather has turned since you started this thread. It is unusually cold and snowy for this early in the season.

Here are my suggestions because of great food and location.

First, Lauriol Plaza which I absolutely love. If you go there make sure you get the Swirl Margaritasas! The only thing is if you go on a Saturday night it is extremely crowded so you either need to be there for dinner by 6:30pm or 9:30pm. Afterwards you can walk three blocks up to Adams Morgan which is a hot spot on the weekend. Lauriol Plaza is about 10 minutes from Dupont Circle Metro but if it is cold take a cab.

Second, Clydes in Georgetown which is another hot spot in DC on the weekend. It’s about 10 minutes walking from Foggy Bottom Metro, but if it is cold you can take a cab. Clydes also has a location at Gallery Place Metro which is very convenient.

Third, Maggianos is not exclusively local but it really good and located right off Friendship Heights Metro.

Last, Old Ebbitt Grill is another. It’s not my favorite but many swear by it.

Thanks!!

I looked at the Laurial Plaza and that place looks soo yummy!

I also planned on dragging my fiance to Georgetown (I lived there one summer) so I''m glad you mentioned Clyde''s. Ooo I can''t wait for our mini vaca (simply because I am just exhausted this semester!)

Cool!

Thanks again everyone for the warm welcome and the advice to us all on places to go. There is just so much to do and see!
