Sorry I fell off the face of the earth for a while ...
Congrats on your VC ring Selkie! I like how you describe your Tsav''s ''big belly'' (so cute!) and thanks for posting profile pics. What an excellent resizing job your jeweler did, and I love how you can see the sculpting of the flowers on the side. So tasty! Got any more?

LOL ... again Angeline?? I knew something was up when you posted about those hypothetical 3-4 carat rounds. Do you think you may have set a world record for the most changes of both diamonds and settings? You probably have enough material to write a book on your upgrade experpience! Did you ever think you would change so many times when you first started out? I''ll bet it hurt a lot too, if you parted with your Maytal halo. I thought for sure that ring would be a keeper; that baby was spark-a-licious.
So I understand about the proportion thing. Though it would be hard for a setting to totally steal the show on anything over 2 carats, in my opinion. Perhaps I can''t even fathom...maybe just because I haven''t been on PS in a while. I''ll keep trying though, if I must!
You are a lucky lady and I can''t wait to see what you''ve got cooking!
Awesome, love your ring Selkie!Date: 6/15/2008 3:35:50 PM

Even closer photo of the rose. If I had any doubt this really was a VC, it went away when I saw this:
Well, thank goodness about your Maytal! Color is good...and I''ll bet it would look superb with a sapphire...perhaps a color-change oneDate: 7/13/2008 12:07:47 PM

Hey LiB,
I will definitely be keeping the Maytal, putting a sapphire or some other colored stone in it. I wasn''t worried about the setting stealing the show in a VC, I just think those settings look better not being too top heavy IYKWIM.
Although with my recordI''m not sure if I want to lash out too much cash on another setting. Maybe I''ll just keep it super simple this time. But I do love the style that Mets just posted in the yg and my new stone is a J so the yg would look pretty smashing! hmmmm....

And, Selkie, any shots will do. Your ring is beautiful and we need to see more!

Hello fellow VC fans,
Just wanted to let you know that my bf received a box from Larry today!! Now, I wait.
Oh, cool! It''s a beautiful set, perfect for an heirloom stone. Will you have it made in gold or platinum? I didn''t realize you could get it with a bezel head, too. Have you seen any pics of it? Personally, I''d do a half bezel with milgraining on the bezel to keep the antique look. The 4 prong style DOES make me nervous, because it sits up fairly high, but I think a half-bezel would be just as secure as a full. Can''t wait to see it!Date: 8/6/2008 3:42:41 PM

Selkie, I hope you don''t mind if I post a picture that you''ve already posted.....I fell in love with this set the minute I saw it here on PS, thanks to YOU!
I''ve decided to have my late Mom''s engagement diamond, RB around .40 ct., set in the #851 mounting. Larry has already called me to discuss it! Question is, should I set it in a half bezel or a full bezel? I''m really rough on my rings and this one will become an heirloom piece and I don''t want anything to happen to it.

What an awesome idea for your family stone. I adore Selkie''s suggestion for a half-bezel with milgrain...I think that would be gorgeous! Please keep us updatedDate: 8/6/2008 3:42:41 PM
