Hi Ladies,
I was looking for another photo today, and came across this image of my OEC e-ring with a Van Craeynest wedding band. The band is a size 9 (and I''m a size 3.5) so I''m holding my fingers in a funny position, trying to keep the band on. We don''t see this ring very often, so I wanted to share it with you all. It is carved AND pierced, with a row of diamonds. It was previously owned by someone else (who knows? I found it in a jewelry store and had my friend L photograph it for me), so you can see how the platinum develops a soft grey patina over time. Enjoy!

Size 9, you say? That''s just my size. Where is the jewelry store?

hello Selkie!

I found this ring in Berkeley, California. Pave Fine Jewelry. They had it on consignment from another customer and the pricing wasn''t terrific (for a 2nd hand piece). I think they had it priced at 1700 or 1900. it also comes in 18K. I tried one on at the Van Craeynest factory. It''s really pretty, very Deco.

Thanks, Kimikocat. Your OEC ring is beautiful!

Kimikocat, your ering always leaves me breathless!!! I had never seen this band before, do you know how old it is? Love the patina. Isn''t it funny how VC pops up?

Selkie, that price is fantastic for platinum. I would snap it up in a heartbeat!

I know, that''s what I was thinking! Even though it is pre-owned, for a VC plat ring with diamonds, I don''t think that''s unreasonable at all. If I HAD a spare $1700 sitting around, I''d be sorely tempted.

It would be nice to have some spare dough lying around because that band is an exceptionally good deal! I have a new VC project in the works so I'm all tied up at the moment. Oh to dream!

Hello Selkie & LIB,

Thank you for the compliments on my OEC! I am always blown away. PSers love the old cuts!

That is an exceptionally good deal on the platinum ring, but you might be able to convince Larry to make one just for you... After all the prices of platinum are coming down...

Well, it''s time to get a wedding band. I ordered the 584P from VC. There aren''t any pictures of this band on the VC website and I hadn''t seen any on this thread, so I thought I''d post some. The band was not as I expected, I thought the groove running down the center would have been the same width as on my e-ring, but it wasnt. Pus, the color of the gold on this band didn''t match the original e-ring and there''s no VC hallmark or gold stamp inside. I''m going to be sending it back and getting the band with diamonds (undecided about small or large as of yet).

This one shows the color difference in the gold.

Are they both 18k gold? I can''t see the color difference in that picture, but I do think it is odd. For what it''s worth, I prefer the smaller diamond wedding band.

That is really strange about there not being a hallmark or even a karat stamp in the band. That is a problem and I would tell them and send it back to fix it. Did you send them your ering in so they could match it? When I chose my set I decided to have both rings made at the same time. VC said if I bought the ering first I could send it back for them to match the band perfectly, but I opted to buy both rings at the same time to avoid doing that. The two flowers on the sides of my diamond do not sit in the same place as the ones on my wedding band, althought that was to be expected because the prongs take up more space than the tiny flower in the center of the band. The only thing I can think of with the gold colors is that the antique finish was done at different times and may make them appear different...although I wouldn't really know because none of my rings have the rose finish. About the groove, are you talking about length or width wise? I think that's what can happen with handmade rings - there will be variations because of the way they are made.

As I mentioned previously I think you should go with the diamond band (although it would be nice to have the plain band as well to stack...maybe?). I'll bet they could make the groove to match and it would look perfect witih your ering. Maybe you could send your ering back so they could make sure it matches?

ETA- I agree with diamondseeker2006...the smaller diamond band would look nice!

EATA- Your story is making me nervous, Seahorsegurl! I found out last week that my new VC project is finished. I worry now and I hope I like it...

Lib- I talked with larry this afternoon and giggled when I got on here and saw that the two of you said practically the same thing! You know him all too well. So, this time around I''m going to send my e-ring as well to ensure a proper match. I have no doubts in vc''s quality, I was just bummed the plain one didn''t work out.
Thanks for your inputs on the sm vs lg. It seems the only noticeable difference between the sm and lg is the size of the diamonds.

Hi, all! After waiting for what seemed like forever, I finally got my engagement ring back with it''s new center stone. So....I''d like to present my new D, VS1 0.58ct stone (sorry, I know that this isn''t new VC, I''m just so excited to actually own a D color diamond!).

Wow! Sorry they''re so big...you can really see my pathetic chemo hands in great detail. I did try resizing them. I guess the original files were just too big.

I''ll try again later, right now my pillow is calling my name!

Wowzers Mariposa! That stone is practically winking at you! It is beautiful.

Is this a meeting of the VC rescue/adoption society?
Ran across this when looking for my er, and shockingly, it is still there, so gorgeous!

Okey-dokey, grab your popcorn and get comfy... In my endless upgrade restless obsession, I have changed yet again from a 3ct J SI1 to a 1.8 D VS2 and a 1ct G VS1. So I am looking for settings for these babies. Not necessarily both VC but at least one and that one being the 1ct G.

This was my favourite. I never liked the two tone that much in pics but in real life...oooh la la!! Sooo pretty and makes the detail really stand out. There''s a few of this set, I think it''s 851 and 951:
