6.. lucky last. Yum!

TJB-Inventory-06132007_00023-crop_lg.jpg

LiB do you know the style number of the last one? Also Micky Roof took down their VC section so I have no reference for stone sizes for any of the styles any more... don''t suppose you ever saved a copy of that file?

I guess VC can pretty much make anything anyway for whatever size diamond right?

OH. MY. GOODNESS. ANGELINE.

Those pictures you posted are giving me shivers!! They are so true to life it''s amazing!!! Thank you Thank you Thank you! I''ll totally have to visit the Tiny Jewel Box next time I go home to MD. AWESOME
30.gif

Well I''m not 100% certain, but the last ring you posted looks like 1007. I posted a profile pic of 1007 (it was unset) in my thread for Diamondseeker2006 ( Link to VC visit ).

Larry said that is their favorite ring to make. I remember he told me the tapers of diamonds were on platinum "tongues" ... which I thought was funny because all I wanted to do was
18.gif
lick
18.gif
that ring it was so beautiful!

And I saw, too, that MR had taken their pix down
39.gif
. I totally used their site as a reference for styles, but I guess that''s only fair if they don''t carry VC. You know me too well and I did, however, download all of the pictures and even the specifications list (because I am a maniac!), but I think the same styles are pictured in their catalog here: VC Catalog (it''s a downloadable in PDF).

You''re probably correct about them being able to make anything for whatever size stone. Isn''t that what Larry said in that goofy movie clip? I''m at work now, but when I get to my computer at home I can look at the specs list I downloaded from MR to see the range for that style anyway. I love this kind of minutiae!
10.gif

Ahhhh, I knew I could rely on you LiB!!! That VC frequency is up and working alright
9.gif

I know, aren't those photos gorgeous! Make my tummy wobble!

Wouldn't that style look gorgeous with yg on the side.... and what do you mean by plat tongues?
33.gif

I'm pretty sure it is the style you posted on the other thread, I already went and checked, hee hee!

sigh... I just told my dh I need to go visit Larry again. He just rolled his eyes
19.gif
I'm thinking of a reset (I know, I know... but I changed diamonds
23.gif
) and I want a piece of art. So believe it or not as they are completely opposite styles, the two I am considering are this VC and the Steven Kretchmer Omega tension ring. I think both are works of art.

This really is the last time by the way *hand on heart*
9.gif

p.s. I only stumbled across your wedding photos the other day on PS... you looked absolutely gorgeous!!! Really beautiful and happy and so did your dh..

Well, the frequency reaches me a lot when I'm at work and the work is getting on my nerves.
9.gif

My tummy is wobbling about those rings in the pics too! I love the two-tone look and that last style would so look fantastic with YG sides. By platinum tongues, I believe the "tongue" part refers to the metal that is underneath the tapers of diamonds on the shoulders of the ring (as in #3 and #6 that you posted, yummy!).

Whoa, you are talking about completely opposite styles. That's a toughie. I'm giggling because your DH must also be a toughie, or a softie as far as jewelry goes, depending on how you look at it! I think Mariposa said it best after she got her wedding band to complete her set...it felt "so substantial, so permanent."

P.S.
Thanks so much about my wedding pictures. We're very happy...that quirky kind of happy!

Thanks LiB. My dh is indeed very understanding. But then I am very understanding about his foibles, like watches! He is a softie though, he always says he could never refuse me anything
21.gif
.

The things they have in common I think (my wildy varying choices) is that they are both very specially made, and they are very tough. That''s the character of them. The look of them though is so different.

I agree with what you said about Mariposa''s quote. That''s the feeling I am after. The thing about Kretchmer is I am not as confident about being in love with it when I''m 80 years old. However I think the VC I would only grow to love more.

That''s today''s thinking anyway!

Have a nice rest of the day at work

Hi there fellow VC lovers! I found these pics on The Tiny Jewel Box website and I haven''t seen them posted on PS anywhere before so I thought I would add them as they give a different view of some of the settings. Here''s the link: Tiny Jewel Box

Enjoy!
Angeline,
Thanks for posting these pictures. The rings are beautiful. My bf and I visited TJB when we first learned about VC. I am so glad their website is now showing that they carry VC rings.

You''re welcome Anita. It looks like a great shop, nowhere near me carries VC, but I do have VC central up the road I guess!

Between you and me and the rest of PS, they carry incredible stuff...but there is something rigid and distant about their customer service. I have enjoyed working with Larry far more. I heart Larry.

Hiya AnitaT. ITA, I totally heart Larry too! Even withTJB being like you said, at least there is a place to go see some rings in person now that is closer than NY and SF. That's a relief for me.

I'm crossing my fingers for you and hoping *it* happens soon

As it should be!

Here are the specs I "lifted" from my maniacal gatherings around the web...

PATTERN: 1007
DETAIL: 16 - 18 diamonds
STONE WEIGHT: .25
CENTER STONE ACCOMMODATED: 1.0 - 3.0 carats
TYPE: mounting
DESCRIPTION: Pierced, chased, engraved flowers with 16 or 18 diamonds. 18K yellow gold or platinum.

I would bet that the "stone weight" refers to the sidestones. It looked like a lot more than .25 carats to me at the shop, but that was almost a year ago
40.gif
.

Okay, I'm gonna go run errands, but when I get back I must drool some more over the pics you posted!

Oooooo...me three! I heart Larry!

I''m so exited to announce that with hubby''s blessing I will have a VC project coming up in the near future. This will be a very special project as it''s going to commemorate the end of my 6 months of chemotherapy. I was recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer . It''s been a very shaky experience considering I''m only 32 years old, physically active and have always eaten. quite well.

I currently shopping around for a sapphire center stone!! How exiting!!

Hope all is well PSers!! Thanks for the great new pics LIB, love your new band!

Mariposa

Mariposa, sincerely hope that all is well with your health. Bless you and your courage.

Big hugs to you!

It is very exciting to hear that have a project in the works! What are you thinking about?

Oh Mariposa,
I am sending you and your family a big cyber bear hug! This VC project will be very special indeed.

Mariposa, words are hard to write. I wish you all the best and every happiness.

LiB, thank you for your ''maniacal gatherings''!! My new stone is actually 3cts, so it would fit the bill. I''m not sure if it will all be too much though, just too big. I kinda regret my crazy upgrade path truth be told, I think I had the perfect stone when I had the 1.57 D VS1 and should never have traded that back. Oh well, I am where I am now.

I''m a very plain person and wear very plain ordinary clothes. I just wonder about my ability to pull off that ring. The Kretchmer is more ''plain'' so I am drawn to that. But the VC is so special! I wonder how your style rings (your wedding set) would look with my stone?

I went to The Vault today and quickly looked at their VC. They don''t have much but I tried a set like Selkies with the rose at the side? and it was beyond beautiful. I just don''t think it''s gonna look as good with a whopping big stone.

Well I think I will just have to visit Larry the doll! and pass on all our collective love, hee hee!

My prayers are with you Mariposa.....blessings for your healing!

I''m looking forward to seeing your VC project evolve!

Lori

Thank you all for your kind words. I''m trying to stay positive and look at it as another jewel-worthy milestone in my life. LOL!

I don''t have the picture saved on my comp anymore, but the style I''m looking at is 1019. Although, I''d want to modify it a bit and have the leaves / flower motif coming up the sides in place of the diamonds. I''m visioning a scaled down version of style 1020; the center sapphire is going to be under 1.00 carat. I''m thinking of either a round or cushion cut sapphire, I can''t seem to make up my mind.

35.gif

Mariposa

Mariposa,
LOL--I love your way of looking of things.
1.gif

Well, the ring you described is going to be beautiful. I think I missed this, are you thinking of platinum or yellow gold?

And, again, I wish you and your family the best.

Wow, yours is a special project indeed. Larry's taste in gemstones is fantastic so I wouldn't hesitate to see what he could source for you.

Thanks about my new band too. I have tons of pictures that I'm working on posting (did you read about my tassel fetish? heehee) so I hope you won't get tired of me!

Also Mariposa, I just wanted to echo what others have said here and to wish you all the strength you need for a full recovery!

Here are some details for you from my aforementioned web mania (and nobody should go without pictures
10.gif
)

STYLE: 1019
DETAIL: 12 diamonds
STONE WEIGHT: .18
CENTER STONE ACCOMMODATED: .50 - 2.0 carat
TYPE: mounting / engagement
DESCRIPTION: 2-flower pierced, carved mounting with 12 bead set side diamonds. 18K yellow gold, 18K white gold, or platinum.

There it is! Thank you for posting the pic, LIB, and for your kind words.

I will definitely be getting this done in platinum. It''s kind of funny, when my husband and I had our first meeting with my oncologist, he told me that one of the chemo drugs in my particular "cocktail" is oxaliplatin which is platinum-based. My husband looked at me and said, "how appropriate". So, I think it''s only fitting that it be done in platinum!

35.gif

Mariposa

Oh my gosh LOL! I agree with AnitaT, and love your way of looking at things. I hear those infusions can be awful so it's important to smile every chance you get
2.gif

I think platinum will look wonderful. Did I read you were contemplating nixing the bead-set diamonds for leaves? In my VC mania a while back, I was contemplating this ring in the same way but still leaving a diamond on either side of the main stone. I guess that would make it a 3-stone then...just a thought for your VC pleasure...

Yes, the infusions are definitely not fun. It really sucks having to carry around the 46-hour cassette, but I try not to think about it too much. I try to visualize the chemo as Pac-Man eating up all the (possibly) remaining cancer cells.

Wow - great minds think alike! That's actually exactly what I was imagining for my new creation. I know this is a diamond-focused board, but I absolutely love VC's metal-work. I value that over a bunch of side diamonds (although they're beautiful too); it's just a matter of preference. I love the look of the flowers with the tiny center diamonds.

35.gif

Mariposa

Aha! Great minds definitely do think alike! With the number 6 I posted above I was thinking the same thing about the side diamonds on it. I wanted more of the metal work to show. I wonder how it would look with the diamonds on #6 replaced with the flowers and leaves from #4...

ITA about the metalwork and the tiny flowers; they just take my breath away! My first setting had pave and it was a pretty look, but just not for me.

I remember there is a head on view of the main design you like (1019) at the Emerson and Farrar site. There are other VC styles pictured there as well, but you have to click the arrow on the right 4x to get that ring to show on the bottom menu. I took a screen shot:

LOL Angeline, you totally need to visit Larry. I would visit him too if I could justify the trip!

ON ANOTHER NOTE-
I don''t usually post until after the fact (you know, with pictures ...
10.gif
) but I sent my purpley spinel cushion off for Larry to have a look. I''m so excited!!!! I can''t sit still
32.gif

Oh!! Thank you, LIB!! I don''t think I''d ever seen that style head on like that. It''s even more gorgeous than I thought it would be. It will be even more gorgeous with VC''s awesome leaf work on the sides instead of diamonds!

Hi Ladies,

I was looking for another photo today, and came across this image of my OEC e-ring with a Van Craeynest wedding band. The band is a size 9 (and I''m a size 3.5) so I''m holding my fingers in a funny position, trying to keep the band on. We don''t see this ring very often, so I wanted to share it with you all. It is carved AND pierced, with a row of diamonds. It was previously owned by someone else (who knows? I found it in a jewelry store and had my friend L photograph it for me), so you can see how the platinum develops a soft grey patina over time. Enjoy!
