Show me the Bling - the Laboratory Grown version!

Does it have an IGI report? How is the G color compared to a mined G graded by GIA/AGS?

Not sure if you already saw this thread, but an interesting post by ADA diamonds showing diamonds and their grades from IGI/GCAL versus AGS!

I purchased two MMD from Distinctive Gems and Jonathan was incredibly helpful! He made me a whole 2 minute long video in different lighting situations to show me my diamonds and assured me that yes, you can see some graining in the super magnified videos but they do not in any way dim the performance, and it could not be seen with the naked eye (and he is correct on both accounts) ! He has a YouTube video where he talks in detail about MMD graining, how he screens for it and how he determines if it affects performance or not, and if it affects the performance he sends it back.

Thank you for sharing! I’ve watched the YouTube video and read the reviews of people here who love his work. I’m really torn because I definitely trust Jon and the members here who have bought MMDs from him but I’m starting to think it might be a mind clean issue with the graining!

That would make 100% sense. It definitely crept in to mind clean territory for me and I may have had a small melt down about it, because until I saw it with my own eyes..... I just couldn't know.

Do you have any local jewelers that carry MMDs that you could inspect in person to get a feel for whether or not it's a direction you want to go? Helzberg carries MMD now, and while I have not visited myself I know two local jewelers in my area that carry and source them for clients. I will say the MMD studs at Helzberg that I saw definitely suffered from obstruction/fuzziness due to graining issues, which makes me feel so much better about how crisp and perfect mine are.

You're right, I think I just need to see with my own eyes! My other issue is that I want my engagement to be a total surprise which makes this tricky too! I've just been playing with the idea of having my BF propose with a 5 or 7 stone band and then waiting until we could go see Jon in person or maybe view the AVCs in our home. It's hard to be a control freak that also wants a surprise, LOL.

Well the lightbox diamonds are here. 2 ctw. White 14k gold setting

My first diamond studs no idea what to expect. Did think they would be bigger
Appear good on my ears but I was hoping to gift to my mom who has larger lobes

Very white . Appears good cut but I am not an expert .

Setting appears sturdy. Do wish for a basket with screws and have to set it at some point in y gold.IMG_20201125_191625044.jpg

They look big on your ears to me! I’ve requested them to start yg but I don’t think it will happen. So do you think you will keep them?

I like them kind of . Will check with my mom what she thinks ,, have sent her some pics we will see ..

tried to make videos with an ipad. Kind of confused if it a good cut
it’s very white and shines but somehow I get the feeling one is more sparkly than the other

anyone have any thoughts ( same video in Bloomingdales thread

I relate to this so much. Going through something similar right now. Haha. I told BF I wanted an OEC from Jon and said basically what size looks nice on me without being like “I have to have THIS”, and then Jon and I have designed a setting, but I don’t know if BF is even going to pick that setting. I mean I HOPE he does but I can stand to be surprised. I also have no idea the final size or specs of the diamond that’ll end up in it, so there ya go, control freak with *some* element of surprise!!

Here is my 3 Carat Generously-Graded I (more like K-L according to the jeweler who made my setting) VS1 Vrai diamond. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and really love how low profile the setting is!

I ordered the 2 ctw round earrings from Bloomingdale's around black Friday and just got a chance to post pics. I also ordered the 1 ctw cushion and while it was pretty, buying 5 pairs of earrings in one year is a bit much for me so it went back (despite it being a "good deal" at around $450):cry2:.

I thought 1 ct each on my ears were pretty huge but I've since got used to it! :eek2::oops2:. Now it looks normal to me.

Oh gorgeous! Where did you source your lab diamond, and tell us more about the setting!!!

Thanks FL_runner! I stumbled upon this ring as a completed piece through etsy/instagram seller "CamiMichelleJewelry" therefore not sure where the lab diamond was sourced. To be honest, after doing research the J color worried me since most suggested to stay above H, but the stone looks good and whiter than expected. I don't see any visible striation under 30x, though I might get one of those filters that I saw Jon @ August Vintage use in one of his videos... or maybe I should just leave it be and enjoy the ring

Re: the setting... the stone is set in a platinum halo inspired by Pippa's engagement ring, with I-J/SI mined full cut diamonds.

Thanks again and happy holidays!

Absolutely gorgeous. Looks very white.

Still waiting on the setting to be made, but here is my diamond in her temporary setting .

Christmas gift from hubby. New World Diamonds cluster earrings. 1ctw and i-j color. These were a very good price and with a coupon code it was even better! Happy with the quality- they are exactly as shown on the website. Very nice everyday studs!

Gorgeous earrings! Perfect sizes and very versatile!

My Christmas gift and first lab diamond purchase came from James Allen. She’s a 1.25/E/VS1 in their double prong pendant setting. Thank you all for sharing your lab purchases. Your reviews gave me the confidence to dive into the lab world! I apologize for my subpar photography in advance.
