The stunning one. I don''t remember the setting.
I thought that was the one you were talking about. I have so many aquas, I can''t keep track. Having it as a birthstone, I''ve collected many over the years, some good, some not so good. LOL!!Date: 6/10/2009 10:45:53 PM

Would you mind posting the other aqua too? The one from an estate piece?
Oh, I thought you were talking about one of my pieces. I almost had a shock attack that you liked one of mine. LOL!! (that''s okay Harriet, you don''t have to tell me you like any of my pieces to make me feel betterDate: 6/11/2009 11:01:18 PM

Pink, I find your thinking rather curious, considering LTP owns more beautiful stones than I could ever dream of owning, and also knows how to take a picture.... Just because someone may have some nice things, it doesn''t mean they can''t/don''t appreciate looking at other peoples nice things. That''s one of the main attractions here. Trust me, if I didn''t really want to see another picture of your stone, I wouldn''t have asked.Date: 6/9/2009 6:53:50 PM

Ellen,
Sorry!! No slight intended. I guess I never would imagine you could be interested in my aqua, considering all the gorgeous stones you have. Plus, you know how to photograph them. The aqua I posted is a special stone to me, and interesting. It is not precision cut. I had it recut in Asia, the old fashioned way, and I made a deliberate choice to do that. It has an antique feeling as a result. I love precision cuts, and I own them. I also appreciate the craftsmanship of someone who can cut an asscher, of all things, with no access to modern tools, and have everything line up corectly upon completion.
The reason I did ask is because of the gorgeous color, and now that you have posted another pic and I know the story behind it, I find it even more beautiful and unique. Thanks for sharing it''s history, it''s a very special stone.
Wow, the color is fantastic! I wish I saw Knitwit's before I started aqua shopping. My aqua looks maybe half as nice as this one when I am outside or at Hobby Lobby. Sometimes I really love my aqua and other times, not so much. However, I was asking for a challenge when I needed to find one in a small size (6mm). I will always love the setting though - perhaps it is time for a new gem...Date: 6/9/2009 8:24:43 PM

This RH cut aqua shows no grey to my eye at all, and is a very saturated medium blue. It belongs to 'Knitwit.' I almost couldn't believe it was an aqua when I saw it.

Here''s my unheated aqua (the blue amidst the green of the stone is my blue Olympus camera) - great thread, I adore seeing all these aquas in one place!
Oops. I hope I didn''t offend you. Well, a model Santa Maria is coming my way, so we shall see.Date: 6/11/2009 11:09:23 PM

I think someone mentioned that the aquas in that Raymond Yard bracelet were photoshopped that blue. They also have a coffee table style book on amazon. The Queen of England was gifted a very fine suite of Aquamarines from the Brazilian government I believe. They''re very fine in color, you might want to google those as well. They also might be in the Royal Jewels thread in the Jewelry subforum.

These are the aquamarines you mentioned.
I do not recall seeing all the detail pics in the RJ thread. I have a book somewhere called "The Jewels of Queen Elizabeth II" or something like that. I have to look for it. I have so many books on gems and jewelry, I can't find it. LOL! I believe there's another picture of this suite in there. However, these are what are known as "top Santa Maria blue" aquas, and those hail from Brazil, and the gift of these gems was from the nation of Brazil. I posted them because Harriet wanted examples of such material. The Queen obviously loves these since she has worn them on multiple occassions and had the tiara made to match them. It's just strange to see her with something other than an emerald, pearl, ruby or sapphire theme. Aqua is a semi-precious gem after all, but these are very nice. Can you imagine if they were top Paraiba tourmalines though?!!Date: 6/15/2009 8:35:28 AM

Now, that’s what I call aquamarines! So deep, saturated and not a hint of gray to be seen. I would not mind receiving just one of that quality and size. Thanks for the pictures, TL. I recognize these from the RJ thread.
Glad to help Harriet. I hope you find the aqua or paraiba of your dreams.Date: 6/15/2009 10:26:05 PM

Thanks for your help, TL. I''ve asked my dealer to throw in a Paraiba cab, just in case.
