Why thank you Harriet.

Actually, I think I know which one you are talking about. I need to take new pics of that with my new digicam. The aqua in that setting isn''t as good a color as the one above. That is why I didn''t post it here.

Would you mind posting the other aqua as well? The one in an estate piece?

I thought that was the one you were talking about. I have so many aquas, I can''t keep track. Having it as a birthstone, I''ve collected many over the years, some good, some not so good. LOL!!

Found it. The aquas are in a Raymond Yard piece: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/intense-color-aquamarine.111842/
Oh, I thought you were talking about one of my pieces. I almost had a shock attack that you liked one of mine. LOL!! (that''s okay Harriet, you don''t have to tell me you like any of my pieces to make me feel better

I think someone mentioned that the aquas in that Raymond Yard bracelet were photoshopped that blue. They also have a coffee table style book on amazon. The Queen of England was gifted a very fine suite of Aquamarines from the Brazilian government I believe. They''re very fine in color, you might want to google those as well. They also might be in the Royal Jewels thread in the Jewelry subforum.

Ellen,
Sorry!! No slight intended. I guess I never would imagine you could be interested in my aqua, considering all the gorgeous stones you have. Plus, you know how to photograph them. The aqua I posted is a special stone to me, and interesting. It is not precision cut. I had it recut in Asia, the old fashioned way, and I made a deliberate choice to do that. It has an antique feeling as a result. I love precision cuts, and I own them. I also appreciate the craftsmanship of someone who can cut an asscher, of all things, with no access to modern tools, and have everything line up corectly upon completion.
Pink, I find your thinking rather curious, considering LTP owns more beautiful stones than I could ever dream of owning, and also knows how to take a picture.... Just because someone may have some nice things, it doesn''t mean they can''t/don''t appreciate looking at other peoples nice things. That''s one of the main attractions here. Trust me, if I didn''t really want to see another picture of your stone, I wouldn''t have asked.

The reason I did ask is because of the gorgeous color, and now that you have posted another pic and I know the story behind it, I find it even more beautiful and unique. Thanks for sharing it''s history, it''s a very special stone.
Awwwww, thanks, Ellen!

And I agree wholeheartedly - a gorgeous stone is a gorgeous stone, and knowing the story of Pink''s stone - wow, it''s hard not to love that stone given her love of traditional craftsmanship. I love it even more now!

You are welcome.

This RH cut aqua shows no grey to my eye at all, and is a very saturated medium blue. It belongs to 'Knitwit.' I almost couldn't believe it was an aqua when I saw it.
Wow, the color is fantastic! I wish I saw Knitwit's before I started aqua shopping. My aqua looks maybe half as nice as this one when I am outside or at Hobby Lobby. Sometimes I really love my aqua and other times, not so much. However, I was asking for a challenge when I needed to find one in a small size (6mm). I will always love the setting though - perhaps it is time for a new gem...

Here''s my unheated aqua (the blue amidst the green of the stone is my blue Olympus camera) - great thread, I adore seeing all these aquas in one place!

babysteps, I love your unheated aqua!! There''s just something about that blue/green color that does it for me. I managed to get a better shot of my unheated one showing some of the green.

Thanks Klewis!!

Okay Harriet,
That should give you a good idea of what to look for in an aqua. Do you think LM can make that suite? LOL!!

Thanks, klewis.

Detail of the tiara

From Wikipedia:

The Brazil Parure is one of the most modern jewels in the collection. In 1953 the President and people of Brazil presented Elizabeth II with the coronation gift of a necklace and matching pendant earings of aquamarines and diamonds.[22] It had taken an entire year to collect the perfectly matched stones. The necklace consists of nine large oblong aquamarines with an even bigger aquamarine pendant drop. The Queen has since had the drop set in a more decorative diamond cluster and it is now detachable. Her Majesty was so delighted with the gift that in 1957 she had a matching tiara made.[22] The tiara is surmounted by three vertically set aquamarines. In August 1958 the Brazilian Government added to their gift by presenting Elizabeth with a bracelet of seven oblong aquamarines set in a cluster of diamonds and a square aquamarine and diamond brooch to match.[23]

Even with all the $$$ she has, she got that for free!! They even added to her gift by later giving her a matching bracelet! It's good to be queen!

I don't think they are Harriet, because I have another picture of these in a book somewhere, I don't remember which one, sorry. They are very very deep blue. I've actually seen aqua that blue in person many many years ago. We went to a colored gem dealer to obtain a graduation present for me from my parents, an aqua. He had a whole tray, and I got a lighter colored aqua, but some of them were this very very deep Santa Maria blue. My mother couldn't believe they were aquas.

Last, but certainly not least, the earrings.

Princess Diana also had some aqua jewelry. Here''s a pic.

They look so deep in color in this shot, and this was an overexposed shot it seems (look how unnaturally white the Queen's skin looks).

Now, that’s what I call aquamarines! So deep, saturated and not a hint of gray to be seen. I would not mind receiving just one of that quality and size.

Thanks for the pictures, TL. I recognize these from the RJ thread.

Laurenthepartier,

My Aqua is the main stone and 3 rounds diamonds in a design on the sides and melee on the bands

I do not recall seeing all the detail pics in the RJ thread. I have a book somewhere called "The Jewels of Queen Elizabeth II" or something like that. I have to look for it. I have so many books on gems and jewelry, I can't find it. LOL! I believe there's another picture of this suite in there. However, these are what are known as "top Santa Maria blue" aquas, and those hail from Brazil, and the gift of these gems was from the nation of Brazil. I posted them because Harriet wanted examples of such material. The Queen obviously loves these since she has worn them on multiple occassions and had the tiara made to match them. It's just strange to see her with something other than an emerald, pearl, ruby or sapphire theme. Aqua is a semi-precious gem after all, but these are very nice. Can you imagine if they were top Paraiba tourmalines though?!!

Thanks for your help, TL. I''ve asked my dealer to throw in a Paraiba cab, just in case.

Now how am I supposed to post pics of my ickle Aquas after you''ve posted Her Majesty''s gems?

Has anybody seen the Aqua in Richard''s book "Secrets of the Gem Trade"? It''s sensational and reignited my love for Aqua although finding one that colour I think would be almost impossible. I would think it''s a copyright photo so I won''t post but I do hope Richard sees this and posts a photo for everybody to admire.

In the meantime, here is my miniscule offering!
