Thank you for reviving this! You already know I love yours. Here's my new one! I haven't worn it yet but I sure have stared at it a lot.

I have one! I hope it’s the beginning of a beautiful collection. Victorian (1860-1880?), shell, Etruscan revival frame in 18ct gold.

This box is full of vintage costume.

i know its just been summer for you but have you been wearing the tree ducks ?

its spring here and we had an early spring but winter made a last ha-ra this past week and its been freezing with lots of heavy spring rain that is usually warm but was cold -we just had a huge thunder storm -felt like it was right over the house -loudest thunder ive ever heard
as cats are ex strays they bearly battered an eye lid but dogs must have been going crazy

anyway back to brooches
i have seen so many beautiful coats this year, very smart but most sadly lacking a brooch -such wasted real estate Stuff: Latest breaking news | New Zealand
so this week was really really cold so we had excellant pie days at work
i was peering through the pie warm warming asking what she would like and i spied what i thought was a really beautiful brooch -blue and silver and white -but when i came around to the till with her pie - they were buttons
the only coat ive ever seen that didnt need a brooch, these were statement buttons
she had made the coat herself and happily showed me the contrasting linning
she hadnt used a button kit but had remade excitting buttons and used the same fabric as the coat and had picked out the interesting bits, it a kind of tartan with dark pinky purple accents on mid blue with thin silver stripes

Here are two of my jadeite brooches. The one on the left has icy jade, pink sapphires and green jadeite. The one on the left is set with icy jade that is so translucent it picks up the surrounding colour. It is set with tiny tsavorites.

Giant sword brooch
In all seriousness you could probably use that thing as an actual weapon in a pinch, it’s gigantic in the best way! I gotta get one of ‘em.

Haha yeah I wear it as a purse ornament currently and can probably do damage with it if I needed to!
