I always wanted one of those, each, and a Peruvian blue opal, but it's hard to find them not dyed. Your pieces are gorgeous.

Amazing colours.

Is their lustre any different from the other? I've never seen either irl.

Beautiful pieces on this page; I'd love to see more posted, please!

Thank you arkieb, lovinggems. :-)

Acinom, I love your amethyst cab!! It reminds me so much of the simple but timeless Georg Jensen-style design. :)

Nice moonstones, ricezo and TL!! TL, is the moonstone in your ring the same one as in your hand shot earlier in the thread? (curious) . Also, I've been wanting a Peruvian blue opal for a while now - I found some cabs that are represented as untreated but it is difficult to find ones that face up clean.

Thanks everyone for the comments on the chalcedony cabs. While they're not certed (not worth the cost and hassle considering the relatively reasonable price that I paid), they were represented to me as untreated by vendors I consider to be reliable. The gem silica is from Chris Auletta (on the FB group Fine Gems & Cabs Market) while the chrysoprase is from the Etsy store Lapicarey (Carey Robbins, you can find some of his cabs on Barry Bridgestock's site too). In terms of lustre they are very similar to my (unaided and untrained) eye at regular viewing distance -- waxy lustre, similar to other chalcedony, jade, etc. The gem silica is more translucent than the chrysoprase so it has a stronger "glow" to it (although, I think it might be partly due to the quality of the individual cabs and partly because the chrysoprase is so much larger than the gem silica, ). They both have a nice inner glow to them in most lighting.

I can play - my mum's ruby diamond cluster ring, now mine.

No spec except the ruby is over 2ct apparently, in 18K WG, ring size 9.5 US.

No, it isn't. That prior moonstone was a disappointing ebay purchase. It barely had any blue sheen, while this one, looks like a sapphire in some lighting, it's a deep blue all over.

Thanks for the kind words.

Bumping

And so, my first ever cabochon ring -- Blood Carnelian. Its color (in real life) is very much like a pomegranate with nice red orange glow in some lighting.

Origin: Aceh Province, Indonesia

Beautiful Carnelian!

I love cabs! Here's mine...a 5 carat transluscent star sapphire in 18k white gold with a diamond halo.image_1150.jpg

I intend to set them in a ring together, as they are small on their own on my chubby fingers.
