Show me your Diamond Cluster Rings!

Gorgeous rings ladies. So glad you started this thread Missy. I'm doing some research as I'm contemplating a cluster ring. I hope those that have cluster rings keep posting.
I’m looking for one too! I think I’m narrowing down what I want. Are you looking for a tight cluster without a bezel Irvine with a bezel more like a daisy?

Hi Mamabean. I'm not sure what style at this point probably prong style. I love bezels but they are expensive & limiting if you want to change out stones. For the outer rim, I may consider rails but not a full on bezel. I haven't finalized the centre stone shape yet (will not be that large either) but I do know with certainty I want as much finger coverage as I can get. LOL I'm going for cocktail / cluster ring kind of style for a right hand ring. It will be a coloured stone ring as well. Matching up colors is a b***h.

Adding my new OEC and rose cut cluster ring to this thread. I just got it two days ago and need to have it resized but I lurve it!!! I’ll proably send it to get milgrained too. Made by Julia B but purchased from sincityfinds. 1.27 ctw. The center is .63 J VS1

Wondering if you have more shots of the band you are wearing in these photos? Would also love to know where you got it from!

I never thought about having to change out a stone..Are you looking for two rings or is this the same ring with colored stones?

@Mamabean -

I've never posted my completed cluster set on this thread. Since I posted what *was* my completed set, I've upgraded the size of the earrings. The earrings are now roughly 4.5 ctw, the pendant is 2.7 ctw and the ring is 2.1 ctw of diamonds, with a 7mm Ceylonese sapphire in the center. All in platinum. Don't know if these photos will be any use, but thought I'd put them here just in case.

ETA Clicking on them will give you a much clearer picture.

Oh my..They are all beautiful mrs-b...Thank you for posting the photos..You have a real knack for knowing what you want and how to go about getting it..My problem is that I want everything and if I try to narrow down what I want..I wind up changing my mind..I’m not like that usually..With my house...I’ll see something and know instantly that’s what I want to complete a look..Jewelry has me stumped...

I never thought about having to change out a stone..Are you looking for two rings or is this the same ring with colored stones?

when I envision the look of my piece, I don't consider that I'll change out the stone but I've found that if the stone doesn't perform like I want (dark, or limits performance) & I want to change out the stone for another, it's more difficult to do with a bezel. On top of that, if the bezel is milgrained, there is only so much that a bench can do because there is thin metal to work with. I stick to faux bezels now with prongs. Expensive lessons (there have been a few..:oops2:) learned.
I'm like you, I'm confused which direction to go. I'm most likely going to end up with a halo style ring as opposed to a cluster. The centre stone, unless I change the shape, is a 7.35 x 4.89 pear. :-/ Not an easy shape for a cluster.

Here is my cluster ring: OEC diamond crossover E-ring. It was a project for my fiance and I after seeing the potential in an antique ring... and we're over the moon with the results!

She came with loads of surprises!

Surprise #1 I had no real idea how sparkly OEC diamonds actually are. I had accepted that my ring may not sparkle like a modern cut: how wrong I was! The jeweller said the stones had been cleaned when my ring was being made in platinum, and wow! In all kinds of light (but especially in low light) my ring sparkles like the fireball I've heard described on Pricepoint.

Surprise #2 The ring looks so beautiful in its new delicate platinum setting with our refinements. I love the tiny round claws, and how the stones now look like they are floating on my finger. She's such a pleasure to look at.

Surprise #3 The central stone was estimated at 0.97ct and TCW as 1.97.
Well, her central stone weighs in at a whooping 1.29ct, so **0.33 more**! I thought so looking at it, but was super happy when it was confirmed!

I now have our dream ring, with antique diamonds as a reminder of the love shared with my future husband: each of the ten satellite stones, each larger the previous one, represents a year my OH and I have been together. The shape mimics the Victorian bypass ring: the arc of stones above and below the centre stone is he & I, and the central diamond represents love.

SoI feel fortunate to have found the original diamond-doner ring and be drawn into the beautiful world of OEC's.

So here's are some photos of her. I know I need to improve on them, so please be gracious! It's a pretty grey day on London, so even though the stones face up sparkly & white, look much darker. Also noticed they reflect the back of my phone, which is black! So These photos do not do her justice...

With my OEC print - just for fun!

On my finger - so hard to photograph without phone shadow!!

Okay..I wrestled with this long enough..I’m getting an OEC diamond cluster ring..that is not huge..I’m thinking 10mm? It could be up to 11 or 12mm. I would have to see examples so will get back on that. If you have any that size it would be so helpful to see. My ering is a little over 8mm so that’s why I’m thinking 10 but I want to be able to see the stones.. I have a 6.25 left hand ring finger but the right hand finger is larger so a 6.5 could work so I can wear it on both hands if I want to. The lowest in color would be an I and I want to keep the clarity in a VS and eye clean. I don’t like a ton of prongs where it looks totally studded with them..Help please..:kiss2:

@Mamabean why don’t you contact Adam @oldworlddiamonds and tell him what you want and your budget and see what he can do for you.

I did think about that but I’m worried that it won’t come out the way I want. I think I will have to see it to know..

Yes that was my concern too when I went custom but talk with Adam. He wants his customers to be happy and if you didn’t like your ring he’d make it right for you. I’d just call him and tell him your concerns and needs and see what he says. You have nothing to lose.

Thanks Missy..I’ll do that but want to try finding one already made..and if I can’t then I’ll give a call to Adam. I even thought of David Klass. I know he sourced an OEC for someone..If he has a ring he made someone already then it would be easier. I could purchase the center stone loose and have him source the rest because they’re small. I would prefer old stones in a new setting so the setting is secure.

Gotcha! Ok so the next few days are filled with family and stuff so I will help search for you next week. You’ll end up with the cluster ring of your dreams. Hang in there. Persistence pays off.
I’ll email you links so no lurker can snatch them from you.

Omg! That’s exactly what I want! It doesn’t have any stats..I’ll have to check it out! Thank you!

Oh good! Alternately, if you’d rather not spend $6K, Julia B. has a similar moissanite version on sale right now and she can probably customize it in a white metal: https://www.etsy.com/listing/550055...r-ring-with-old?ref=user_profile&pro=1&frs=1#
I’m so bummed..I called them right away..It was 14.5mm which is huge...I want one smaller..maybe 12mm? G/H color but SI 2 and I couldn’t do SI2. She said they could make one with my parameters..so will call me after some sourcing..She said it was totally eye clean but I can’t..I have a mind clean problem. I did consider moissanite but want to stick with diamonds in this..What is the diameter of your Lang cluster?
I’ll have to try to figure out loupe troup and put my contact on there. Thank you!

@Mamabean darn, so close! Mind clean is just as important as eye clean so I’m glad you’re not settling.

Mine’s about 12.7mm. Here’s the link to details for reference: https://www.langantiques.com/vintage-diamond-cluster-ring-gia-h-vs1.html

Also, here’s another option. Parks Fine Group has pretty competitive pricing and Alex has sourced lots of gorgeous OECs before. It might be worth reaching out for a quote. This is an example of a cluster ring he made, though the rose cuts and the proportions aren’t quite what you’re looking for:

I can see I made a mistake when she was asking me what size the surrounding stones should be. I told her the 14.5 was too big so she asked if .15 to.18 was good..I said yes but I think they will be too small.
The Parks Group one was expensive! Wow!

Yeah, I wonder if the Parks one is expensive because of the 2+ ct center?

Here’s the report that came with my ring; you’ll definitely want the surrounding stones to be bigger to get a similar look. Also, I wonder if GoG can come down on pricing? I thought $6,680 was very expensive but I figured it was good to post for the style. If they’re going to scale it down closer to 11 or 12 mm then I would expect the price to come down about 35-40% as well based on what I paid for mine.

Thank you so much! I divided the eight diamonds into 1.20 ctw and it came to .15 stones..so that would be about right. The range would be .15-.18 points. My eternity band is made up of .15’s. She asked if I wanted the center stone to be bigger..I told her definitely! I didn’t specify a size but I can always say later I want it bigger or smaller and aim for 60 or thereabouts..

That would match nicely with your eternity band. I’m so excited for you! :appl:

She’s just looking to source them so it’s not a done deal. Please keep looking..:geek2:

 You got it!
@JPie @missy I contacted David Klass and he can make me a setting with the style similiar to the one you sent me the other day. I also contacted Jonathan to see if he could cut small OEC’s..in addition to the center stone..If the price is right I’ll go with doing that..because the setting will be exactly how I want it and I’ll get the cut and color I want with the OEC cut stones from Jonathan. I hope the price will be okay..I have David’s quote already...

I don't believe @Rhino cuts melee, but I'd LOVE to hear I was wrong...because I'd love some also!!
