Show me your Diamond Cluster Rings!

@JPie @missy I contacted David Klass and he can make me a setting with the style similiar to the one you sent me the other day. I also contacted Jonathan to see if he could cut small OEC’s..in addition to the center stone..If the price is right I’ll go with doing that..because the setting will be exactly how I want it and I’ll get the cut and color I want with the OEC cut stones from Jonathan. I hope the price will be okay..I have David’s quote already...

That's awesome! DK does great work & I'm sure he'll knock it out of the park. Fingers crossed that Jonathan's quote comes in below budget!

I don't believe @Rhino cuts melee, but I'd LOVE to hear I was wrong...because I'd love some also!!
He answered me by asking if I wanted moissanite, lab or mined so I hope so! I would need .20’s..I think for the little ones. What proportions do you think @mrs-b ? I said probably .60ish center and 20’s for the littles..I want it to be no bigger than 11-12mm.

Hi @Mamabean :wavey:

Depending on the depth of your OECs, you should be right in the middle of that. If you did it in round brilliants, it would be almost exactly 12mm, but OEC's will have a somewhat smaller diameter. I'm sure it will be over 11mm, but I'm guessing less than 12.

One thing, tho - my sapphire and diamond cluster has 20 pt stones in the halo, but the center stone is the equivalent, size-wise, of a 1.3ct diamond. Your 8 x 20 pointers will be too wide for a .6ct center. If you were to do a 6 diamond halo around a center stone, all 7 stones would need to be the same; 7 x 20 pointers, 7 x 30 pointers, 7 x 50ct stones - regardless of the weight, a 7 stone cluster requires all 7 stones to be the same diameter if you want a nice, tight fit without gaps or overlaps.

But this is not the case for an 8 stone halo for a 9 stone cluster. I've thought about turning my new OEC into a cluster, and its a .64 ct stone - so, almost the same as yours. 10 x 2.5mm diamonds in the halo will give me a nice tight fit, or 8 x 3mm diamonds. So your sides need to be about 10 points each to give you a good fit if you want an 8 stone halo. It will still make you a ring with an over 11mm diameter, but will be a lot cheaper than using 8 x 20 points, so that's a good thing!

Thanks @mrs-b You’re right..I took the measurements from another ring and they had a .63 center stone and eight .08 stones circling the center...but they had a bezel around the edge which would make it look larger..I could go with .10’s..Would that look like a halo instead of a cluster? My eternity band has .15 pointers.I’m afraid smaller than that and I’ll have a halo.I love @JPie ‘s
cluster..Hers has a .63 center and eight .15 point stones surrounding it. She said hers was about 12.7mm I think..That’s too big for me but I’d buy it if I could anyway.. I do want eight stones though..
I’m not sure @Rhino would make stones that small but I stand corrected..

If you look back to the photo I posted on the page before this one, you'll see my earrings. The center stones are .95 each and the sides are 11 pts each - still definitely a cluster, and the ratio between your 10 point stones and your 60 point center would be larger than in my earrings. So - definitely a cluster.

ETA In fact, better yet - my ring is the same proportions as yours would be with 10 pt sides and a 60 pt center. Mine would be larger, but the proportions would be the same. So it's definitely not going to look like a halo; it will be a cluster for sure.

@mrs-b Jonathan emailed me and said he would let me know in a week but it looks promising! He said he has some new surprises coming! :appl:

First, I love your ring! It’s beautiful.

I’m curious about the rose cut though ... it looks like I can see right through those stones ... I thought that it was not possible to see through a diamond ... is this normal for rose cut? I don’t mean this in a negative way! The ring is perfect. I’m just curious.

Yes. It is normal for a rose cut. This ring is also available on the Julia B website with a rose cut center and I preferred it with the OEC bc I didn’t want to see too much through it. You can check out her website to see what it looks like with a rose cut center as well. For me it’s a subtle, romantic look.
But yes, it’s normal for you to see through them bc they are flat on the bottom. Some rose cuts have a foil back but they are harder to keep clean I think.
I also have a CVB Jessica ring with a rose cut and that you can definitely see thru bc the stone is much larger.

@JPie @missy I bought a cluster ring from England! :eek2: I saw it on Etsy..It’s 1.5 ctw..like a daisy..and I think it’s old European cut but it was hard to see in the photos but it’s G/H vs 12mm x 12mm! I think I see petals but I’m not sure! I figure it can be the first one in my cluster ring collection..:P2 The price was under what I wanted to spend and the stats were good so I’m taking a chance!

First of all, congrats!!! It sounds just perfect.

The price was great and under what I was willing to spend..It’s huge and pretty..and the fact that it’s from England which I have always loved..sealed the deal!

@Mamabean how pretty! It looks like a flower and the diamonds are nice & bright. It's also hard for me to tell from the photos but they look like transitional cuts - flowery facet pattern, tiny/no culets. Can't wait to see it on your hand! Once you've worn it for a day, you won't think it's huge anymore. DSS is real!

Haha! I just hit that button and stopped second guessing...I figure I’ll be like my mentor..and have more than one! Not for a while though...I’ve been bad..very bad..

Wow!!!! Amazing.

I found this pink Tourmaline and diamond cluster ring on Etsy. I had passed it by more than a dozen times looking for my all diamond cluster ring. Since I found my diamond cluster ring I wasn’t looking for one anymore....but I came across it today looking at pink Tourmaline and decided to get a deeper look because it’s very different. It must have been marked down since I saw it last because the price grabbed me..I asked the normal questions to the seller and my last one was how big was the diameter....14.72mm! Talk about finger coverage! I think it’s sweet!

@Mamabean how pretty! I saw a nice cluster on Etsy too. Antique circa 1900, $2590 for 1ctw, which seems reasonable? Hard to see from the photos if the diamonds are cloudy or if it's just the pic quality.

Very pretty! Are you going to get it?
The ring I just purchased was $200!:lol-2::P2 The Tourmalines and diamonds are natural! I can’t wait to get it!

Do they look like old mine cuts? Is it returnable? Maybe you can ask for more pics?

@Mamabean that's a great deal! Please post lots of pics. I'm on a cluster ban until I see something I really can't resist so I will need to live vicariously. :mrgreen2:

I told myself no more purchases but it was $200 and for that size and price..it would would have been crazy not to buy it..;)2
How many cluster rings do you have?

@Mamabean those tourmalines remind me of padparadscha sapphires! That's going to be a fabulous cocktail ring. :kiss2:

I only have three clusters, and they're all different cuts: OMC, OEC, and rose. If I did get another, it'd probably be a more rustic antique cluster, like these:
