Show me your Van Cleef and Arpels jewelry!

@Phoenix Ahhh. Thank you so so so much!! Yes, so the YG pave Magic earrings are the same size as the the stones (I verified those are 20mm) - and the WG pave Magic earrings must be a touch bigger.

You're very welcome, @yssie. I do agree that the WG version is a tad bigger, which difference is visually evident.

Yes, the difference really does seem to be visually evident. It's small, but it's clearly there. I saved these pics from the other forum (last one is from @m-2-b)... I wonder if the lack of central nub in the WG is exaggerating the size difference, too?

I want a few more rose gold earrings options. The carnelian RdN is next on my list and that's in rose gold, so that'll be one pair... I was thinking I might like an Alhambra pair too. But Vintage or try to SO Magic in RG? In photos the Magic size looks perfect. Especially since I don't have particularly petite ears. But when I hold a Magic sized earring motif up to my ears (the bottom clover from my 3-motif dangles, I don't have any others) it looks HUGE. Like, seriously unwearably large. But then I go back to photos and this size never looks overwhelming on other people!!

I can believe that just holding a motif up to the ear doesn't really capture how an actual earring would look... Need to find a way to try some on. Preferably this year ;( B24F800D-5534-4291-91D3-8EEEBDA3DB7A.jpeg

Maybe after you get used to wearing the RDNs these won’t seem big at all.

The nub does make a difference. Also the YG edge kinda "cuts off" the blinginess, whereas in the WG version, it's just BLING BLING, edge to edge. @diamondseeker2006 posted a very eloquent post of why the WG looks so much bigger than the actual size difference. Let me see if I can find that post on one of my threads.

I did have a picture somewhere of my TQ RdN clip/pendant next to my yellow gold magic Alhambra earring. If you can wear RdN, you can easily wear the magic. If memory serves, the RdN is quite a bit bigger than the magic. Both my RdN are not with me. If you're not in a hurry, next time I go to the bank, I can bring back my RdN and snap a picture of it next to the magic earring.

How exciting, @yssie!! I can't wait to see these new acquisitions of yours in addition to your most recent ones. Would love to see a family portrait once you get these new earrings.

This makes complete sense. Yes.
And since I want rose gold - which is a colour that kind of blends into my skin - that visual "BLING edge to edge" is reduced even further.
I think the Magic is the way to go for me. Future proofing to some extend - these pave pieces are so pricey, if I buy the Vintage size and they're too small for me I'll just never reach for them over my regular ol' diamond studs.
And I know that I want the Magic style with the nub in the middle, like yours. A more "heritage"-ey look.

That's very kind of you. And I'd love to see some photos next time you've got them both - if only because you have an exquisite collection that there can never be too many photos of  But to your point - yes, I wear the mini RdN a ton, never any worries about them being too big. Big is (almost always) good, bigger is (almost always) better, and I'm pretty shameless about it  So where are all these concerns about Magic earclips being too big even coming from!? :halo:

It's been a Van Cleef sort of year! Couple of years! I'll take some updated family pics when I go to the bank!!

Will you get the carnelian RdN earrings before you get your magic pave WG, @yssie? Wearing the small-sized RdN would give you a good idea as to how comfy the magic would be, as the RdN are quite a bit bigger.

Yup. Carnelian RdN is next on my list. I'm 100% sure I want those, in the Small size. Jackson Pollock esque jewellery. They're mad and odd and perfect

The Magic, I don't know if that's an SO or MTO, in RG... Hoping for the latter! Either way, I'd like to get the request in this year... But it won't be until later in the year. So no real rush besides budgeting angst ::)

Carnelian RdN would be perfect for you, like you!

I dunno either. The YG is not listed on the site either.

Not sure if this is helpful, but in the UAE I believe VCA had launched the magic alhambra in RG and pave as a country-specific exclusive at least a few years ago... I can't remember if it was the single motif or the three motif. But if it was the single motif, and it is still available, would it be feasible for you to get it from there? It would save you the premium, I would suppose - and it would probably be cheaper to fly there and make a holiday out of it :D

So I saw these a little bit ago, when I first started looking -

The pricetag, holy moly  And those are all the no-nub motif style… I know I’d want the nub in the middle. I’ll ask my SA what the deal is. VCA’s refusal to make everything available in all golds is so bizarre.

Yes, these are the ones I referred to! I can't see the price on here though.

I did find the price for the WG 3 motif and single motif and it surprises me that the 3 motif is less than double that of the single motif - $47.7k vs $27.7k. Is the WG 3 motif similar to the RG 3 motif in price?

My only thought is, if you SO the single motif, its going to be roughly $36k (assuming 30% premium) and that seems crazy high, but the heart wants what it wants! I'd be tempted at that point to save a bit more and get the 3 motif though, those earrings are deadly beautiful.

The website suddenly started working for me again with prices, and I spotted that the 3 motif RG is $44.2k. That's a lot closer to the SO price for the single motif than I expected (if indeed there is a 30% premium for the RG).

Would you consider the 3 motif at all?

I would love it if you'd get the 3-motif pave, @yssie .

I tried them on but alas they were too heavy for my ears. If you could wear them comfortably and you'd want them, I'd be living so vicariously through you!

Bling dots to the rescue, Phoenix! You have such an amazing collection, are you sure I can't enable you towards the 3 motif at all? :D

Thanks for the enabling!

@AllAboardTheBlingTrain lol!! :lol:

Dirty little secret? Even the regular stone three motifs are too heavy for me, honestly. I love how my pair looks but I never wear them, the swing that the dangles add is so weighty that they tug my whole earlobes down. And the pave version is SO fancy, I don’t have the lifestyle for them! @Phoenix does though!!

I used to be a Simple Studs And Dangles person but I’ve come to appreciate Fancy Studs as a perfect in-between. I can’t do dangles casually. No dangles look casual to me. But studs, for whatever reason, ::shrug::

Nope - online is saying out of stock in all of the UK stores :((

They have the small size online, I think? 6.3 inches

I wish my wrist was that teeny :((

It is a small size, there‘s an even smaller one too! Keep an eye on the website- I enquired after my Frivole earrings and was told they had no idea when more would be available, then about 2 days later they popped up for sale.

Oh, dang. Maybe if you keep checking one will pop up. What size are you after? Mine’s a large and it wasn’t as hard to find.

I will say (after 24 whole hours with this bracelet) that it will be worth the wait. In addition to being gorgeous, it is SO comfortable.
