With all the color threads lately focusing on a specific color, I thought it would be cool to focus on a specific tone. Show us all your lighter toned pastel colors.

Here's a grouping of mine. All the pink and lilac stones are spinels. The round blue is a Bob Kast aqua. The seafoam green-blue is a Gene (precisiongem) Afghan tourmaline. The two orange stones are spess (the tiny one was cut by Gene). The yellows are chrysoberyls.

Lavender pear spinel, a bit included, but pastel.

Two more lavender spinels (I don't have enough lavender spinels  ).

TL, nice idea...

Some natural untreated unheated TOPAZE from Katlang / Pakistan

I bought 2 crystals from a Idar Oberstein cutter - both with a fracture parallel to c-axis ( you see it in the larger stone ( 4,30 ct )).
The 3 small and the 1,83 ct werecut from the second crystal.
The color is a beautiful purplish pink - I call it "cherryblossom". The color does not fade.

This thread is a great idea! TL your collection of pastels are stunning! That paraiba! :appl:

Marlow - what a beautiful shade of pink I love that cherry blossom colour.

Perfect description Marlow. Cherry blossom. Love it and don't think I've seen many (if any) topaz that color.

Lavender/pink spinel. I'm saving it for my daughter.

Paraiba or apatite?

My bet is on Paraiba.

DK :))

Yes, it's a Mozambique copper bearing tourmaline. :-)
It looks so good next to the spess.

Thanks, I always wanted a neon paraiba with a neon fire opal or neon orange spess halo. I love those two colors together (turquoise and orange).

Do you ever plan on doing anything with your box of pastels in one project?

I would love to make a cluster ring, but that would have to be custom, and I don't have a jeweler nearby who could do the work. I would want to do it in argentium silver, and no jeweler I know does it. They all insist on working only in gold and platinum. Therefore, I would have to ship the stones off and that makes me too nervous. :errrr:

I like that spinel - were is it from? Tanzania or Vietnam ( or a very good one from Sri Lanka?)

Another fun thread! OMG I love all the stones shared here. BEAUTIFUL colors.

Here is one of my pastel stones. Rose quartz in a 14K yellow gold setting I adore. Very delicate and sweet IMO. I wear it on either a long chain or a short chain depending on the outfit and the neckline.

Missy,
I love rose quartz, it's such an underrated gemstone, but very beautiful.

Nice stone, and I'm jealous of your hair!

Pregcurious, nice spinel for your daughter too!

This is my rose quartz, which is 63 carats, paperweight size.

Chrysoberyls and light toned sapphire.

Can you tell what my favorite tone is yet?

Thanks, Marlow and TL. It was sold to me as being from Sri Lanka . I was on a spinel bing for a while and bought it (2.23 ct) and another Sri Lankan spinel (dark pink 2.77 carat my avatar) because they were big(ish). I became concerned about size when I started setting stones because I realized the small and big stones cost almost the same to set, but I like the bigger ones better. I would love to have a 3-4 carat spinel, but I would buy only if I sold something.

TL, I love that purply blue sapphire. I wish I had a big honker in that color.

Hmm, you don't want to send it off. That is tough. I had a hard time sending one of my stones to LA, but I think I'm getting over it. The jewelers near me (DC) are too expensive that I can't set anything the way I want.

It would also be a perfect project for Sally at Heart of Water.

I'm loving all these pastels. I apparently have a pastel problem as well from the quantity of pictures I found on my thumb drive.
