Hello everyone, first thing first I'd like to say that this thread sparked a love for cabochons and for star gemstones, especially sapphires. I got some inexpensive ones from a Thai seller on eBay (price range from a few dollars to 200$+). Nothing compared to what I have seen on this thread. Let's begin:

Black star sapphire 2,67 cts with a silvery star
Green star sapphire 3.28 cts with a tiny not-very-defined star
Very pale blue star sapphire (looks like an overcast sky) 7.10 cts and unheated
Grayish blue star sapphire 5.49 cts and unheated
Purple star sapphire 8.66 cts with GLC certificate and unheated (my priciest one yet)

Now I won 2 other auctions and I would love to know what do you think of them

I manage to get this for pennies so I won't bother with buying a separate certificate since that would be 15$ at least. Any reason why the price ended up being so low? I know I'm not buying an high quality gemstone, but still...

@IcePhoenix - stars come in different qualities, you see how the first one you linked has lines of silk bands cross it and the stone looks cloudy, that is the natural grown lines and inclusions in the stone.

The best stars are supposed to be ones that are clearer or almost see through to completely see through, with either stars or cats eyes for cats eye stones. I'm not sure if matters if you love the stone and the colour of it.

Omg the size of those babies!

They are honkers for sure. It’s fun wearing them both at once sometimes for an over the top crystal look.( though with stars, even huge sizes are never over the top). The big one is around 34 carats and the little one is 18.81 carats.
