I spoke to Alan at Sheldon Speyer who was the MOST FABULOUS and helpful person of ANY setting manufacturer I have ever spoken to (and if you''ve followed my saga you know there have been quite a few) regarding the setting below. They can change the basket to accomodate a split prong at negligible or no charge. They recommend against adding the tapered baguette at the end as it will considerably decrease the comfort of the setting, but if I really want them to they will.
They suggested that I try the ring on as is... and recommended a jeweler in San Fran (Old and New on Union) that is one of their best vendors and said that they would be happy to ship either the setting... or if they don''t have that, the wax of the setting to them for me to see. And then I could decide on what modifications need to be made, if any (beyond the prongs which are a given).
And I''ve been ring and setting shopping for days (which is why I was hoping for a GTG soon so I could have some PS input on the rings on my finger) and I really really think this one is it. I can''t get it out of my mind. At all. halos have flown out the window and everything. Weird.
It''s very classic, a little deco like my asscher with very fine millgrain and french cut side stones, and it has bling... and won''t have pave issues. And the price is fairly reasonable although I will have to save a bit more for it, and delay some of my redecorating plans for the time being. It''s all hand made. The the cost between platinum and 18K gold was negligible so it''ll be platinum!
It will, also look good with the baguette eternity band FMIL passed down to me (once I get that repaired), which makes me very happy.
SO... it''s going to be a little time before the store can get the wax/setting in. Then I will need to work out any modifications. Then it will take 6-8 weeks to get in.
SO I''m very happy. And while I need to see the ting in person... I think, ladies and gents-- this gypsy''s setting travels are at an end.
