Ellen, you''re in PA, right? I think we''re getting now what you got yesterday. We have about 4 inches or so right now and we''re expected to get up to 9 inches before the storm ends. It''s snowing hard at the moment and it''s pretty windy too. I think it''s supposed to turn to sleet and freezing rain tonight.
I love the fact that we''re going to have a white Christmas. This is what winter around here should be. I think it''s funny when the meteorologists make such a huge deal about a snow storm. This is what it SHOULD be doing during the winter.
Oh my, that's got me a little worried--I'm flying into Detroit on Tuesday (on my way to London), so I hope it's cleaned up enough for the airports to be open by then! Should be ok, as long as you aren't expecting any more winter weather...?Date: 12/16/2007 1:29:20 PM

we got dumped on in detroit! i think the current measure is 8 inches, and it's still coming down really hard. not a great picture, but for reference there was no snow on the ground 24 hours ago

I can''t help but laugh at that pic Ellen, where abouts do you live? I will take pics today, we are getting about 12 inches EASILY today..which is fairly normal here in Northern Canada. The snow on our patio set, was a bit deeper about 6 weeks ago. The pic you posted is considered a ''light dusting'' here...but I guess if you aren''t used to the snow. I will take pics of the snow castles, rinks, forts, and post them soon. I should have taken a pic of the 3 feet of snow in the driveway before hubby went out with the snowblower earlier this morning!
Ok, now to me, that''s a great example of, "too much of a good thing".Date: 12/16/2007 2:42:57 PM

Typical winter here, snow covering basement windows, can hardly see out the front window, the snow gets piled so high. This is a neighbour''s house...you can see how much snow has pile in the front yard, from removing it from the driveway!

7-8 inches so far here in N IL. from this one.
btw: I deny that I brought any any snow anywhere!!!
Driving is a pain! Most of you people are getting DIAMONDS for Christmas, while I, got snow tires! LOL. They aren''t cheap! My best friend lives in Simi Valley, CA,and I always joke with her saying how much $$ she is saving, having moved from Canada, not having to buy winter coats/boots for kids, snow shovels, tobbagans, snow throwers, winter tires, not to mention the HEATING BILLS to keep the house warm, when it''s -32 celcius!!Date: 12/16/2007 3:08:18 PM

OH good grief you poor snow covered people. Here I am complaining of being cold in California.
The pictures are beautiful, but I can imagine what a pain all the snow is, even driving in it.
I want you all to know, Rick and I listen to the weather reports. I am thinking of you all. Please be safe in the snow storms.
Wish I could fly you all out to California for awhile.
Linda
Excellent news! Aye, I would think Detroit would be well-practiced with clearing away snow. Thanks for alleviating my worries.Date: 12/16/2007 2:30:17 PM

My mom''s flying into Detroit on Tuesday, so I''ve already thought about this.I''m not particularly worried. The snow''s supposed to die down tonight, which I think should leave them with enough time to clear everything -- they''re generally pretty good about that.
