We got our first snow here yesterday. Not only is it highly unusual to get any before xmas anymore, this is the biggest in years, period. I haven''t found an official report yet, but the patio table is a good representation.

Ok, now I am jealous, I am so hoping for snow!

Oh Ellen, you''re lucky. All we got is rain and it''s still raining. I feel a bit like Noah''s Ark.

Me me me me. But not as much as you. Actually our ground looks like a flocked Christmas Tree. You know where you can see some green peeking through?

But so glad it was snow...and not the dreaded heavy power zapping ice. So many of my fellow neighbors are still without power. Targeted time is the 18th. May God Bless them.

Ellen, darlin you need to get that patio set out of the elements. That sling type chair will get weaker exposed as it is. Now get out there and get it protected!! Go! Are you listening? Too cold to go isn''t it? Brrrrr.

Ellen, you're in PA, right? I think we're getting now what you got yesterday. We have about 4 inches or so right now and we're expected to get up to 9 inches before the storm ends. It's snowing hard at the moment and it's pretty windy too. I think it's supposed to turn to sleet and freezing rain tonight.

I love the fact that we're going to have a white Christmas. This is what winter around here should be. I think it's funny when the meteorologists make such a huge deal about a snow storm. This is what it SHOULD be doing during the winter.

Lorelei, I am sending loads of "snow dust". Don''t be too jealous, it''s going to get warm enough Wed.-Thurs. to melt it. We do have a chance right now of a dusting xmas eve....

Kaleigh, sending you a bunch too!

Dk, GOD I feel sorry for those people still out. Talk about putting a damper on xmas....

And I know, I know. Normally I cover the chairs, but like I said, we just NEVER get snow this early anymore. I will though, promise.

No, I''m on the Il, MO border.

But lots of people are getting snow. And you''re right, this IS what it''s supposed to be like. It''s winter.

We (central MD) were supposed to get a mix of sleet and snow, but just got rain.

Wow, that is a lot of snow; beautiful! No snow here; just on the mountains! It is very cold though.

I was so hoping for some snow to set the Christmas mood, but we just got another ice storm in Central PA. The roads are taken care of already, but the power has been flickering all morning! And the ground is so frozen that my poor pup has been limping around the grass trying to find any place to sniff and go!

Glad you like the snow.

I got a couple inches here as well last night.

That makes the 7th snow this month (and I don''t count the few times we have had very light fluries).

we got dumped on in detroit! i think the current measure is 8 inches, and it''s still coming down really hard. not a great picture, but for reference there was no snow on the ground 24 hours ago

I can''t help but laugh at that pic Ellen, where abouts do you live? I will take pics today, we are getting about 12 inches EASILY today..which is fairly normal here in Northern Canada. The snow on our patio set, was a bit deeper about 6 weeks ago. The pic you posted is considered a "light dusting" here...but I guess if you aren''t used to the snow. I will take pics of the snow castles, rinks, forts, and post them soon. I should have taken a pic of the 3 feet of snow in the driveway before hubby went out with the snowblower earlier this morning!

Mimzy, I didn''t realize you were in Detroit! I''m in AA -- we could get together sometime!

Hubby and I didn''t bother checking the forecast until around midnight last night, when we started to wonder when the snow was predicted to stop. I''m kicking myself now -- we''ve been meaning to go get firewood for a couple of weeks now, and yesterday would have been ideal.

Snow on my car--

And poor little Dylan. He''s having a hard time getting around.

Oh my, that's got me a little worried--I'm flying into Detroit on Tuesday (on my way to London), so I hope it's cleaned up enough for the airports to be open by then! Should be ok, as long as you aren't expecting any more winter weather...?

My mom''s flying into Detroit on Tuesday, so I''ve already thought about this.

I''m not particularly worried. The snow''s supposed to die down tonight, which I think should leave them with enough time to clear everything -- they''re generally pretty good about that.

Yeah, we used to get snows like this a lot, but not anymore,. So it''s something to get excited about.

I live in Illinois, southern part.

gwen, be happy that rain wasn''t in the frozen form.

Skippy, very cold here too. Usually it snows on the warm up, but not this time. *shivers*

Sabine, ice, ugh. I hope you don''t lose power! *fingers crossed*

Perry, wow, 7 snows already?? That''s a lot. We probably haven''t had 7 snows in the last 3 years put together.

mimzy, love the snowy pic!

Blen, you got quite a bit too! Your poor pup....

The deck outside, BBQ covered in snow, we put our patio set away. We are supposed to get a ton of snow today/overnight...it''s just starting out there!

Typical winter here, snow covering basement windows, can hardly see out the front window, the snow gets piled so high. This is a neighbour''s house...you can see how much snow has pile in the front yard, from removing it from the driveway!

Ok, now to me, that''s a great example of, "too much of a good thing".

OH good grief you poor snow covered people. Here I am complaining of being cold in California.

The pictures are beautiful, but I can imagine what a pain all the snow is, even driving in it.

I want you all to know, Rick and I listen to the weather reports. I am thinking of you all. Please be safe in the snow storms.

Wish I could fly you all out to California for awhile.

You can deny it all you want. WE know.

Is it still snowing there strm?

Linda, don't feel sorry for us anyway, we're loving it! I thought global warming had wiped out winter as we knew it here forever. So honestly, I'm thrilled.

Driving is a pain! Most of you people are getting DIAMONDS for Christmas, while I, got snow tires! LOL. They aren''t cheap! My best friend lives in Simi Valley, CA,and I always joke with her saying how much $$ she is saving, having moved from Canada, not having to buy winter coats/boots for kids, snow shovels, tobbagans, snow throwers, winter tires, not to mention the HEATING BILLS to keep the house warm, when it''s -32 celcius!!

This is our 3rd storm so far! Last year we got NOTHIN' so I think mother nature is making up for it this year. Which, hey, as long as I don't have to drive (
32.gif
) is fiiiiiiiiine with me! Not that I have a car to drive right now because of the 1st storm!!!

I took this picture this morning and it's actually decieving because we've had SUCH strong winds that we have huge snow drifts instead of even blankets. Altogether we have about 14-16" I think. This is our view from out dining room french doors (which is soooo beautiful in the fall) so you can see FH buried trucks!

we got a good 7 inches here in Mass. last night and this morning. It then turned to rain so by the time we shoveled it, it was like shoveling cement. Really really heavy. Took a long time to clear the driveway, but at least I got my workout today!

Wow! All these pictures take me back to my growing up days in Chicago . . . Down here in south Florida, we''re looking to drop into the low ''50s tonite and a high of 62 tomorrow.

Excellent news! Aye, I would think Detroit would be well-practiced with clearing away snow. Thanks for alleviating my worries.
