Somebody's Gotta Buy This Piece!

I uhhh may have bought this during an insomnia spike. I’m a sucker for this kind of look!

I need to stop following this thread. It’s so dangerous

Yay! It’s stunning and I’m sure you have or will find a stone to fit. Did you ask what size rock it fits? Looks like about 6-7mm to me.

I didn’t ask since I don’t have anything specific in mind, and my jeweler is also pretty good at adjusting as needed.

I do have a round violet sapphire from Barry I’ve had for years set in a simple bezel that I’ve been meaning to rehome into something nicer.

I don't normally post pieces with eye watering prices ($30k, ouch) but look at this true Victorian piece at Wilson's. Swoon worthy. Plus that halo is to die for. Going straight into the inspiration file.

Oof that graduated halo!! I don't usually like halos but have never seen anything like it and now I want it bad :kiss2:

I think somebody shared that first one already. The size is crazy small lol

I mean can you really size up a 1.25 without affecting the setting?

Only a few minutes left on this lovely lady… it will likely go up double in the last 5 minutes but it looks really fabulous IMO. There is obviously some risk with EBTH though… but maybe a PSer can snag it so I can see more pictures!

I have seen so much garbage go for crazy high prices on EBTH, I rarely even visit their site anymore. But that was actually a pretty nice price, and that setting looked lovely.

Interesting. I always find great remodeling candidates, settings with lab/glass stones etc for great prices. I'm picky of course, but generally find great stuff, and their descriptions are accurate.

Does anyone know if their branded pieces are checked for authenticity? I’ve been scoping out Cartier watches for fun and saw a few on the site. Didn’t know if they were worth keeping tabs on or not.

I don’t know. I did buy a Chopard watch on TRR and sent it to the factory for servicing. Came back in a chopard pouch, so I call that verified.

If you google TRR and authenticity there are several articles about fakes making it into their website and why there are issues with the listing process (high quotas for items mean authenticators can be rushed). You'll see I post wackadoodle TRR finds all the time.

Watches are a category I'd approach with extreme caution online. Because there's such a huge resale value, it incentivizes all kinds of shady practices. You could have a "Frankenstein" watch made from a mix of parts (i.e. a dial/bezel from a broken authentic watch slapped on a fake one - so it looks real, and appears real, but the inside is garbage). So I would personally make sure the vendor is really taking the time to disassemble each watch and review it. Or, I'd really only play fast and loose if I had someone to inspect it in person, and/or it was a particularly rare model or one less faked (like, I'd get a Grand Seiko because those are impossible to dupe IMO).

I personally bought my Rolex from Fashionphile and then had it checked. (Edit: although there are issues with that vendor too, I think it's less often reported on and they claim to take the watches apart to inspect).

That is fascinating - thank you for the explanation. It makes total common sense, but jeez, what a lot of work it takes to be a scammer. I guess I’ll save up my money to buy new and continue to gawk at the beautiful bling everyone posts in this thread.
