Oh, and CM, those colors are all gorgeous!

Chrono, that tourmaline is just amazing. I wonder if the Dawsons would accept my undying and heartfelt appreciation in lieu of a sack of money?

21.75 ct? Is it an opposed bar design or modified step cut? Gosh, what is the measurement of this beauty? How painful is the price tag?

I'd like to pop in just to say "thanks for the cool thread Minoux!" :wavey: :wavey:

It's obviously a big hit! What a great idea! :appl:

You Sweetie, iLander! Thanks that makes my day. But its kind of gotten away from its original mission which was to find beautiful stones at bargain prices. Now its just beautiful stones - sometimes at excellent prices, sometimes at outrageous prices - but, heavy sigh, I guess we can all deal with looking at beautiful stones  Hee hee.

Since you're one of our opal experts, see anything recently that catches your eye?

Yep, a honking 21.75 ct! I note that the ends are bluff, though, so it's hiding a little weight in there. Still, at almost 21x12x8.6, it's a real stunner! It's a modified step cut, and while I can't share the price tag I can tell you that the owner's open to reasonable offers! I did ask Cathy about the stone, she notes that it's profoundly dichroic with that neon greenish blue on the AB and a strong, rich green coming down the C - that'd be an heirloom pendant for sure! Anybody out there want to be the 21st century Liz Taylor and show me more photos of this gal after she's set? :naughty:

Greg:

Beautiful! For those of us who are too lazy to click on the link, can you include the price and dimensions? :naughty:

Some of us are too lazy to post price and dimensions. :naughty:

Thank you - that's a helpful attitude.

I was kidding. I haven't been here long but I have noticed you are extremely confrontational. And even rude at times. That's too bad, I hope you learn to lighten up. :wavey:

I figured you must be kidding as well but I forgot who I was dealing with. Who is too lazy to click on a link? I can understand not wanting to click a link for other reasons... but laziness?

Wow. Greg, in addition to your being arrogant, rude and confrontational, you are entirely inappropriate. Having not been here long is no excuse, you should have acquired some degree of good judgement, if not good manners, before you subject others to your company.

Explain. :D

I apologize if I was rude. I will go stand in the corner.

Vapid Lapid was right, I am rude, arrogant and downright rotten. My humblest apologies to everyone on Pricescope that has been subjected to my awful trifling ways.

I saw this on Tan's site and love the blue green of it. Is the cut a little.... crooked? It looks pretty in the video and at 4+ carats the price seems fair at $250pear_aquamarine_vvs1.jpg

I think it's unheated, too.

Wordie,
That's just windowed, not crooked. Is it a sapphire?

Greg,
Count me in as one of those too lazy / pressed for time to click for dimensions and pricing. :cheeky: Many others also just breeze through threads quickly and if we don't see what is not there, we move on to the next one. No need to give Minou a hard time. Sometimes one might just be having a rough day but in this case, I believe she asked so that others do not have to ask for the info. Generally, it's thoughtful to provide these stats up front, link or no link.

Oh dear! I wondered about possible window when I saw the video but was hoping it was a tilt window. When I loaded the picture I actually noticed the cut. It's an aquamarine.

Nicely put Chrono.
GregS sometimes those links expire and then we're just a bunch of sad lookieloo wannabes.

$250 is a good price for a 4 ct aqua. It's not the typical blue we see in the US but I also like that it isn't a step cut. Without seeing the video, I think this one will look much better after getting the pavilion facets tweaked.

Greg:

Thanks for the kind words - its nice to know I'm so well thought of by you! Actually, you had me laughing at the boy standing in the corner - as a kid, I sometimes ended up in the corner, and never really understood its purpose. But I digress...

I know its morphed over time, but when we first started the thread, if you go back and read the introduction, the purpose was to showcase stones that were high quality at good prices. We have had so many threads where people have used links, which as Wordie points out, typically expire quite quickly, especially for ebay stones. As a result, we asked at the outset of this thread to include all relevant stats on the stone with photos here; if you wanted to post a link, that was optional, but really hoped the rest of the info would be included.

I've repeated it a few times throughout this thread and knew you were aware of it since you've been reading for a while. In fact, I was assuming an informality with you as if we were friends when I said that about those being too lazy - sorry I made the assumption we were comfortable with each other! You're right in that I was kidding about the lazy part; I just didn't want to go into the whole the-link-might-expire-so-can-you-provide-details- spiel I usually say. But you've got a point in that flippant begets flippant. Do you have a picture of me standing in the corner too? Actually, at this point in life, I wouldn't mind just sitting in the corner and staring at the wall... :praise:

As to your other stuff Greg, I try to speak my mind in a respectful way. If you feel that I am rude and confrontational - not my objective at all - please let me know when it happens rather than hanging on to it in a passive but negative way - its a much kinder way to operate on this board if you want to hang around and be part of the community, which you and I both want to do. :saint: :))

Oh, and Wordie, nice find. I LOVE that stone! I would echo what Chrono said that that color is atypical and is what catches my eye. For that size, color and price, I would take the window...

Hugs Minou!

Yes, Freke, it is beautiful. I suggest that there is someone you know who recently had a birthday. Now the way I figure it is that its never too early to start the collection...

Happy B-day! You did it!

it won't last long, I'm sure. 3.53 carat, canary yellow zircon with Gene's impeccable cutting. Maybe $247 is more than you were thinking about paying for a zircon, but you will never find one this nice again!

Precision Gem. He also has a tsavorite left from last month. I can attest to its amazing color as I *think* I have its twin. Someone buy these!

Minou, that zirc of Gene's did sell quickly! Phew! I was glad, because I was tempted, even though I just don't wear yellow so probably wouldn't set it. I have never seen him give a perfect 10 before, so it must be quite striking IRL, too!

I was SO tempted by that zircon also, although I am not a yellow person either. Very glad it is off my radar now... I also have a tsav from Gene from a few months ago--absolutely love the color and his cutting. It is being set right now; its reveal in about 3 weeks!

Why Mrs. M, you little sneakpot! Look what's happened - we have successfully tempted you over to the colored side :naughty:

I have an unbelievably gorgeous yellow zircon I got from Barry a few years ago. I love it so much that I had to post this one of Gene's. That, coupled NKOTB, as you said with the perfect 10. How cool is that! The thing is that my yellow zircon is so bright and sparkly, it often is hard to see the body color, if that makes any sense. So I don't know, but I could maybe see because of its high dispersion, that Gene's zircon would give off so much dispersion, sparks and flashes that the color would be secondary...

Please let us know if you are a PSer that nabbed it - if you feel like it.

Wasn't me, but I've developed a huge appreciation of zircons lately. They're bright, dispersive, and very affordable, with the caveat that you kind of have to baby them. I have a light blue marquise from Gene, a peachy pink checkerboard crown round from Roger, and a near colorless round from Barry's last drop. Yellow isn't my color, but I can still understand why Gene gave this a perfect 10!

I snoozed and I lost. I would have gone for that yellow zircon in a heartbeat but I only just got online a few minutes ago. Congrats to the person who purchased it.

Minoux is a fabulous person, if you want to get to her, you're going to have to come through me, GregS!

Minoux, I know you took it with your usual humor and grace, but it made me mad . . .

Sorry for the threadjack.

Now I'm in a mood. :nono:

I missed that zircon too and I would have jumped too! I have been on a yellow kick lately!

Hello all. :wavey: After lurking for quite a while, I've finally decided to 'come out' and confess that I bought Gene's yellow zircon on Sunday. I'm really a 'pink' person, but this color just blew me away and I couldn't resist. So sorry if anyone is disappointed they missed out. To be honest, this is only the second time I've managed to buy anything from his drop, so I'm sure it won't happen again!
