Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

It's not my thing although I can see someone seeing the cut as unique (curvy centre to highlight the bi-colour).

As promised, the first stone is from Michael Litnon a huge 11.43 carat, pure orange (doesn't have any discernible red), Namibian Spessartite, available for $1,140. Dimensions are 14.8 x 10.9 x 8.8 mm, so some reshaping work could be done to make pavilion facets even more lively if needed.

Did anyone reading this thread purchase this stone? If so I would love to see it!

I sadly don't know enough to know if this is a good buy or not, but this stone just CALLS to me. Someone else please buy it so I don't break down and do it.

Siberian Hydro-Grossular
2.70 cts., 8.4 x 8.4 x 5.6 mm
$ 250

Ulli has listed several of these on eBay over the last few months. I drool over them every time but the bidding has always gone too high for me. They look like amazing stones!

I was very excited by that stone until I read his comment that the stone had a flatter crown to preserve size. Not my favorite look but the color is fantastic!

Didn't he have a couple of others listed?

That one got to me too. I looked at it for a long time, almost pulled the trigger. But I'm not buying stones that only attract me anymore, only ones that refuse to be left behind. Wasn't crazy about the wide flat crown, either, which made the decision easier. But it's a gem I looove looking at.

A flat crown will make little difference in that stone - you aren't going to get much sparkle in the first place due to the silk.

Somebody buy this fancy orange-yellow diamond from Gemline/Litnon, so I can stop thinking about it!

http://www.litnon.com/index.php?page=viewgem&id=9363

It is fancy vivid, and it comes with the GIA cert! :cheeky:

He's got a whole pile of new stuff today, including an interesting tourmaline ring (can't decide if I love it or hate it  ).

Great job, iLander!!! :appl: :appl:   :appl: :appl:

That is a great find - looks like a lovely, lovely diamond. I love the vivid color! If no one else buys it, I may just have to break down and buy this one myself!

While it looks breathtaking in the photo, my word of caution is that that vendor is known to pump up the saturation of the photos on a regular basis. I'm afraid to say that looks really enhanced to me... :blackeye:

I figured there might be something a little strange there. I thought maybe it was just priced low because the cutlet looks a little off center. Too bad about the vendor :(

That spinel looks almost too good to be true! I don't know anything about the vendor but the photo looks pinkish/red and the video looks orangeish/red. It's a very very very deep stone with a small table. This is one I'd like to see in real life and compare to the vendor's photos and videos. I hope somebody gets it.

From the colour of the tweezers, it was flooded with light and, probably, had the brightness enhanced as well.

That spinel looks very nice, but as Lady D said, it is flooded with light. Then I Saw the photo of the lab report in the listing, I enlarged it and was able to read all the info. The photo of the stone in the photo of the report looked paler and pink. So I verified the report. Actually it looks quite good. Here is a screenshot of what they sent me.

That does look nice!

Somebody buy it so I feel like I found a winner :D

Well airplay, it seems someone bought it with a best offer of $450 on the asking price $580. We will just have to wait to see if it was anyone here.

If the stone is what it is described and looks like with the AIGS report, I think they got a pretty good deal.

Is it a good deal though? We are only talking about a 1.04ct stone, and on top of that, with its considerable depth, it only faces 5.74x4.78.

The color doesn't look as nice in the videos as it does in the still....but it does look nice in the cert. But, again..a small stone with an even smaller face-up size.

Well we wont know for sure unless the buyer posts here. In the mean time I'm going with yes it is likely a good deal. First I would rather have more depth than less, for both window avoidance and color intensification. Also if you watch the video carefully you will note that the extra depth is mostly in the crown. Many of us prize a high crown over a shallow crown as a high crown makes for a more lively stone. At 1.04 carat a little less depth might make the stone face up a tenth of a millimeter bigger in both directions; hardly worth bothering about, especially with a color that packs such a punch. We all note that the vendor's still photos are exaggerated and that the photo in the photo of the lab report in the listing looks anemic. That is why I confirmed the report and was surprised to see such a nice looking stone in the email confirmation. Since Lab Report photos are unlikely to be enhanced I take this to be a good indication of the stone's reality. So yeah, it looks to have been a very good deal.

Has anybody seen the new sapphires from Mastercut? http://mastercutgems.com/index.php?page=view&cat=301

If I had 10K, I would be all over that 5 carat beauty. :naughty: A lot of them have AGL unheated briefs too!

Next time someone shows up on CS to find a sapphire engagement ring, can we just link them to this page and be done with it?

Minous, this is still one of my favorite threads on PS, it's genius.

Size isn't everything! Some people prefer smaller stones and if this is as nicely saturated as the report suggests then it IS a good deal.

Ditto to all of the above!

Aww, shucks, iLander *shyly kicks ground with toe end of foot* you say the nicest things.

But I gotta say that this time around I was disappointed with the prices. The only one of the lot I would consider would be the 2.45 carat, since it seems to be more saturated than the others. That said, $3200 is not exactly cheap for a heated stone (maybe I've gotten too used to Dana's bargain pricing!)

I guess its time for me to go back to work finding good stones, huh? :praise: :praise:

So you got it, MTG! I hustled over there the second I saw Gary's email -- looked for the price on that one because I love grossulars -- sigh, SOLD. I'm glad it went to family!! Can't wait to see pics when you receive it & hear how you like it.

Haha, thanks!
Yeah, I hemmed a little bit as it was still expensive, but the price was fair and I just loved the shape, and how it looks like a pale green diamond.
