Somebody's Gotta Buy This Stone!

That's gorgeous. Love the cutting & it's blindingly beautifully saturated. Go for it!

Friends (who shall remain nameless but know who they are) have been trying to talk me out of this one. I can't help myself. I have a thing for chyrsoberyl (and corundum...oh, and spinel...and teal tourmaline...nearly forgot cuprian tourmaline...and garnets, almost all of them...and...and...)

3.11 ct. neon chryoberyl - well cut from Madagascar via Jeff Davies. $1,245
Please buy it! I can't afford it at the moment ( ;( )and it's killing me to see it, it's like Kryptonite, literally and figuratively.

I saw that stone around 2 am last night and I've been twitching ever since... I broke down shortly after my reply to this thread and told him I would take it.

If I was too late, great, I don't need to spend that kind of money at the moment. But if I get it, great... for obvious reasons. It's a win win. :errrr:

That is doubly awesome! I'm so happy to hear that it is being snapped up by 1) someone who has an eye for color and neon; but even more importantly, 2) someone who is thorough in sharing photos and opinions when stones arrive. :praise: Can't wait to hear the report!

Oh, and although I have absolutely no right to be, I'm jealous as heck.

Two I hope somebody snaps up so I can sleep at night.

Oh the sapphire.... I was ogling that

Isn't it something? If I hadn't spent my little bundle lately, I'd be all over it. Unusual & so pretty.

Oh Laurie, I swear your my twin from another mother! I puffy puffy puffy heart those stones, especially the purple star sapph!

If that purple star sapphire was bigger...wow, exactly what I want except for size!

I am definitely a newbie, but this pair of chrysoberyls from RW Wise's retirement sale look gorgeous to me! And they seem less aggressively priced that others on his site. 8.47 cts total for $1,600.

Yeah, I waffled for 10 min over the size, but then decided to email brad about it, still haven't heard back yet... :(sad

But the color is WOW.

Hah! I thought of you immediately, MTG!

Hey Rosebloom, thank you so much! I, for one, do not check Wise's website, so did not know that he was a) retiring; and b) having a big sale! Woot woot! Now that his prices will be more affordable, I will definitely check it out! Thanks so much for the tip. :appl:

Looking at Richard Wise's sale prices, I hesitate to ponder what the regular prices were!!!

Minou & Chris, the size of the purple star sap. was a problem for me too. Beside the fact that I just finished one project, have another almost done & a 3rd soon. It's SO pretty & different, but too small (for me) for a regular ring & too big for a pinky ring, for which I'm also looking for a stone.
Hope you get it, MTG -- and PICS if you do!

Nice chrysos, Rosebloom, I noticed those. He has some rounds I like even better. Even on sale, I can't afford Wise. ;(

I'm a chrysocolla fan, Blithesome -- sometime will have to have one. How much is that Etsy one, btw?

the star sapphire appears not to have sold yet. I think it is a perfect size. but I took the star spinel because they don't come around often.

I looked at rw's sale. many items same price as before, despite the on sale tag next to them.

The star sapphire is reserved and not by me. Ah well. I already have one, shouldn't be hoarding anyways

That's a real disappointment. I hate when vendors do that! :nono:

The front page of the site indicates stat the sale price is 20% off the stated price, but suggests that some items won't be discounted until July 13. I'm not sure if the July reference is a typo, in which case the price is 20% off of the listed price, or if some items won't be discounted for another month.
Retirement Sale begins June 13th All items, 20% off stated prices on this site!

After 35 years we are retiring! Yes it's time to move on. Beginning June 13th and going through August 31st we will be conducting a gala retirement sale. Every item in our shop and advertised on this website will be reduced. All items will be 20% off beginning July 13th. Come in and register or stay tuned on this website for weekly specials.

Thanks aaronl, good to know.

I think it's around 900 USD... I hope a PSer will get that one. The color & translucency looks divine

Huge green chrysoberyl at 300$ per carat.I don't know if it is sold because it has been there for ages, but at 12174$ I think it's a steal.I wish I could afford it....chrys_0.jpg

VL, I was eyeing that star spinel. I'm going to need pics.

A LOT of pics.

I have been searching through forums and websites looking for a new gems to add to my collection. I ran across this one. It is incredible color change and thought it deserved to be listed here. I have bought from this vendor before and my engagement ring is a blue sapphire we bought from him. I love it! :twirl:

I think I may be a bit jaded with CC stones. For me this stone looks olive green vs. grass green and I think this is the way the stone would look most of them time.
