Wanted to share my something pretty. Here's my rooftop garden all set up for a paella party last summer! I'm in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The roof deck offers a little slice of nature in the big city.

These are all on Cecilia Raley's etsy (a gem seller I trust). The individual stones are each about $300, the 6mm pair $560 ish. Such a beautiful color, but I'm partial to blue/green.

Beautiful! I’m from NY and still have family in Park Slope and Bay Ridge. Was supposed to visit for Memorial Day weekend but obviously that’s off. Outdoor space is always a premium there, but more so in these times. Thanks for sharing.

New piece arrived today from Ivy & Rose. Ordered a few weeks ago before the world went totally upside down, when we may have still hoped that all of this was just few weeks inconvenience. That was wrong, but don’t think the ring purchase was. Ivy & Rose was great. Couldn’t be happier with them.

The sapphires are so blue heated, but I prefer heated sapphires. The melee stones are colorless, which I was attracted to as my eternity band stones colorless, both are platinum.

It is really comfortable. Have had it on for just a few hours but feels like a piece I’ve had for ever.

Hope it brings a few smiles to faces. I’m calling her The Covid Blues.

Thanks, EmeraldEmpress! It's a true labor of love. I plant it all and care for it all myself, and I start most of the plants from seed every year.

Carly is our rescue cat, I caught this pic of her using the flash which had a neat effect on her eyes.

A little backstory, when we first got her DH did not think she was cute "she's kind of ugly" is what he said to be exact. Well now she sleeps with him and loves on him and if she doesn't come and lay with him at night in bed he calls for her. Yup now he loves the "ugly" cat!

So thought it appropriate to put her in the "pretty" thread.

May I suggest you to pluck out the anthers as soon as any flower blooms? So the petals won’t be stained.


May I suggest you to pluck out the pollen-bearing anthers as soon as each flower blooms? This will avoid its petals or your clothes from being stained.

Excellent tip on the pollen/anthers!
I didn't realize this could be done and stained a countertop once. My mother had sent me a beautiful and fragrant display of Stargazer Lilies at the time.
She has recently surprised me again with a bright and beautiful bouquet (with Lilies in it, orange this time) and I remembered reading your tip and wanted to thank you for sharing! (And hopefully saving my countertops!!) ; )
