Sugarloafs, carvings, & cabs! Share your best non-faceted gems!

All my cabs are 'fashion jewellery', though I would love to get them remade using gemgstones. I really like Mochiko's earrings on the stand.

Is that top ring a Raintree ring? Would love the details on it (whether Raintree or not)

The ring is made by Brilliantly Engaged. Design Made with the help of fellow PSers. I sourced the stone myself.

I'll play -- 2 james Meyers (sapphire, and then jade) and a Diana Vincent (sugarloaf tourmaline)

I did not see text, I was looking at pictures, and my brain immediately went into James Meyer jewelery. It is so beautiful, I admire his style.

I got a few more cabs.

The spinel are impossible to photograph! They are really red, they match my necklace. 5.7x4mm

The emerald is a Chatham, I got it more out of curiosity. 9mm

And 3mm aquamarines.

Maw sit sit cab in 18K yellow gold. The concept is loosely based on ancient Egyptian scarab rings.

I've admired this piece before... love seeing all of your unusual stones, and it's always a treat when they're set into a fine gent's piece. :)

Omg it looks exactly like a watermelon!!!! So cool!

I never noticed that! Totally!!

Love looking at all the yummy gems here- some of them look good enough to eat (jelly beans come to mind)!

Jade pendant - the hubby’s (then boyfriend ;))) first jewelry gift to me.

Some unfaceted gem rings in various lighting since they seem to do well in different lights and it’s hard to take them together so that they uniformly look good...

1st row, L to R: peruvian opal, lavender jadeite, Mexican opal, black opal
2nd: icy jadeite, green jadeite, star sapphire
3rd: moonstone, jadeite, black opal, jadeite

@Polished1911 I realize this is an old thread, I wanted to ask if you could share the vendor for spinel cabs. Thank you.

I only have one to date, a sugar loaf Ruby in a 14K White Gold and diamond ring, purchased by my mum many years ago from a large department store that specialised in Chinese goods.

It's a floating world of colour.

Beautiful and vivid!

And I'm embarrassed to ask: is this three different gems or a montage? I was searching for clues in the stone(s) or even discontinuities in the background. Pretty good deepfake :cool2:.

All the same stone, montage. Upper arrows show the horizonal position of the joins. Lower arrows point to a matching feature.

It's easy to fake with a black felt background!

I have not seen that giant lolly ruby!!! Oh my goddess (haha typo I meant goodness but I’m keeping it because it fits)!!!!! Can I please have more shots of that beauty????

Minerva is marvellous!!! Is she much bigger than your beautiful jadeite?

Thank you, dear @mellowyellowgirl. You have probably seen all these on other threads, but here are some of my cabochon / non faceted gems.
Of course Muzo Minerva leads the group!

What a magnificent collection, @Crimson! It's always good to see Muzo Minerva again. I love the glow of the lighter green jadeites.

Thank you!, @mellowyellowgirl. Do you mean the rubies or the rubellite? Minerva is about 16 mm longer, 2 mm wider and 5 mm higher than the jadeite. She has more volume =)2

So do I, @Starstruck8. We both love cabochons! The lighter green jadeite are icy sun jades and they are also in this bracelet.

Ah, the rubies. Because you asked about “giant lolly”, I thought it might have been the rubellite, because it because definitely meets your “not snot sized” criterion. The rubies are 5 ct. and 8 ct.,Burmese. I am sometimes asked whether they are antique. They are modern, but with an old world feel
indoors, bright light.

I too love cabs--so many awesome pieces in this thread! Cabs are so hard to photograph for me...I can never seem to capture their glow. Adding a few of my own...

Blue star sapphire from the 40s, affectionately known in my house as the TARDIS ring:

My white star sapphire with colored inclusions moon ring (which I can't seem to capture well in photos)

And an Yvonne Raley black opal, emerald, and paraiba ring -- all cabs!
