I joined back in 2004 with a guy - didn''t work out. I am dating the most wonderful man who has all the characteristics that I didn''t even know I needed. He is my best friend. Now I am 33 and dating a 39 yo divorcee with two small children. We have been dating since March 07. It is getting to that point where he needs to decide to be with me or let me go. He is afraid of making the wrong decision (because he''s been down a bad path) and has been taking his time. I''ve told him the total package is that I want one child. That''s a little hard for him to commit to. So, I have told him that I need to know that marriage and one child is in our future, before March 09. I am putting all my faith into the hopes that he''ll choose to be with me forever. I don''t want to consider the alternative. So please, add me to the list.

Please add me. I hope to be engaged by Christmas, my boyfriend and I just bought a ring together!

We decided to buy the ring together because he was too overwhelmed by the process and I knew he would end up being scammed at a B&M store. I started off by just sending him "samples" of what I liked and I always got the excuse "I want to look around. My sister said I shouldn''t by online". At that rate, he would never buy anything. Finally, I found a specific diamond I really liked and didn''t want to lose it. He caved in and said as long as it was what I really wanted he was happy. So we bought it on Thursday and I will get to inspect it when it arrives (tomorrow!!). Then he gets to hide it from me until the time is right. I just hope his procrastination skills don''t kick in again!

A quick rexiew of my situation. I have been with my lovely man for 4 years. We have been living together for about 2 1/2 years now. And yes, we just built our FIRST house together, ye sthe house is in BOTH of our names.
I guess you can say we are doing things the "Non Traditional Way".

But ladies, I am going INSANE hopeing and praying that he FINALLY pops the question BY Christmas. The Holiday Season is supposed to be about fun and Happiness, but am I the only one who is COMPLETLY OVERLY OBSESSED with wanting to get engaged this season?!?!

I guess its just that I''ve been here about 7 months, and know I have about another 7 to go. Mentally, that makes me feel like I''ve been here forever.

Anywho - I''m whiny today. Sigh.

I am trying to remain un-hopeful about the holidays, because I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. But, I will give you the facts, just so that if it does happen, I have proof that I wasn't totally blindsided.

In late October/Early Nov, my dad randomly invited SO to come out to our home for the holidays. (SO hasn't been to visit my fam since 2003, when we were in undergrad and not dating) SO very enthusiastically jumped at the opportunity. ("I'd love to!" he says.) *interesting* I doubt they (dad and SO) are in cahoots, but I do know that SO has to ask my dad's blessing before proposing (says my dad, not me).

Then, SO turns around and invites me to come and see his family for New Year's. They live in CA, and it will not be inexpensive to fly out there. I thought that he would be discouraged by ticket prices, but he shouldered it all and paid all of his flight expenses AND mine without a word of complaint. Then he called his family to let them know all of the plans, then called me back, just to say he loved me. (not totally out of the ordinary, for him, but not typical either)

Now, our families WERE together last year for Thanksgiving, and that was the first time that they met, but SO didn't try to pull off a proposal then, so there is no real reason to think that he necessarily will this time either. The only difference is that he has a ring now, and he didn't before. He also says that he thinks Holiday proposals are really cliche/cheesy, so there's that.

He is also planning to move to a larger apartment that is pet friendly, (I have a dog) and he mentioned wanting me to be able to stay longer, and having more space so that I could move in one day. (He knows I will not move in with him without being engaged.) He has also been pressing me for information about something that he says he needs to know, and I assume he wants to know before he feels he can propose, but that is just an assumption of mine.

Anyway, I want to elope, and I would ideally rather share the excitement of a proposal with my family than have a wedding, and I think he knows this. (I think EVERYONE knows that about me, lol) So, there is potential, but I am trying to keep from getting my hopes up. And he has no reason to think that I am suspicious, because he doesn't know that I know he bought a ring.

So I think I am going to start exercising really hard for the next 4 weeks, just in case

I want to look GOOD in my e-pics!

Worse case scenario, I can get a sultry Mrs. Santa outfit and look REALLY good in it!

Also, and totally random, my roomie is single and invited me to go speed dating with her tonight, and SO has previously said that I was not allowed to go speed dating, but today he said "yes", saying that I have always wanted to go, and that I should go.

I was so confused, especially when he started insisting. I couldn't help but wonder if he was saying that because it would be my "last opportunity" to go speed dating before being engaged? Just a passing thought, but it did make me wonder.

sorry this was so long, I really needed to get that out and I don't want to talk to my friends or family about it and get them speculating, because I would go into anxiety overdrive!

LOL, probably, but I really don''t want to be disappointed.

His brother got engaged last January, and SO proclaimed, "No engagements for a year!" because he didn''t want to steal his brother''s thunder. But his brother got married in July, and they are expecting a kid already, so I really don''t think we are even competing in the same league anymore, lol! I would love to be engaged before the baby arrives (June), I would LOVE to be an aunt!!!
