Oh boy....

You need to go to IKEA and don''t want to deal with weekend crowds? Need to get work done around the house? FMIL will be passing through town and you need to get wedding planning done?

WEDDING PLANNING! You need a personal day because you need to look at venues/meet with caterers/etc. Then just say, ''Oh, nothing really worked for us. What a waste.
7.gif
''
DING DING DING

Wedding planning has been the ultimate work excuse for me. Long Lunch? Wedding stuff. Leaving early? Wedding stuff. Coming in late? Wedding stuff.

It works even better for me since my supervisor''s daughter is my age, and is also planning her wedding.

No one can argue meeting up with vendors!

I know this may sound weird - but Express doesn''t fit me as well as The Limited! Strange, I know!

Elle, you're right, I think we have a winner!!! Thanks princesss, that's a really good idea.

I just don't want my boss to see through it - she already knows how displeased I am with our director not approving my request for tuition tax exemption. She might smell a rat.

I'll say that moms is coming to town and the only day me, moms and mil can do it is on Wednesday. I have 10 vacation days left, so it's not like I don't have the time.

Hi Girls! Hope everyone''s doing fine!

Bia - Congratulation on getting the interview! That''s terrific!
I love suits from Banana Republic especially because they sell separates and I wear a different size top & bottom. I''ve been doing interviews the last couple of days and every woman I''ve seen has been wearing a black skirt suit with either a white/light blue blouse or some kind of solid-color shell.
Skirts are supposed to be more formal, or something.

You''re going to be great! Just remember to bring a couple extra copies of your resume and prepare one or two questions for the end of the interview when they say, "Do you have any questions for me?"

what have you been interviewing for? how did they go?

I''m nervous but honestly, the mroe I read up about MS the less scared I get. I''m trying to anticipate versions of questions they will likely ask so that I can calm down. Mostly I jsut want to be myself so that I don''t come across as robotic. But it is nervewracking because I haven''t interviewed for almost two years now. That and it''s such a prestigious place, I want to rock it!

Were your ears burning, Freke?

And my nose was itching...

As for the taller thing--I am screwed unless I wear stripper heels. How do you think 6 inch stripper heels would go over in an interview? I''m only 5''2!!!!!!

Anyone ever had a day that went from bad to worse to beyond awful?

I can''t cry at work. I won''t let myself.

Every time things start to sort out and life looks like it is going okay, something happens to turn it upside down.

IRS. Got to love the tax system here.

I''m sorry your day has gone from bad to worse. That sucks. I hate crying at work too! I''ve done it maybe twice (it was for reasons unrelated to work) and I had to hide out in a bathroom stall for 10 minutes.

I hope the rest of your day goes better!

I told myself I wouldn''t cry. Just focus on doing what I have to to fix the problem before it turns into disaster.

Instead of crying, I''ve got an anxiety attack.

Oh well. At least I don''t have them much anymore. And I don''t know anyone who wouldn''t have one if they got a notice like I got.

Relaxing. Have to breathe.

Yikes, honey. Definitely take a few deep breaths.

And...oh boy, the IRS. I should do my taxes soon...

They are being VERY agressive now.

I''ve got untill Monday morning to have it all coordinated with tax prep guy, IRS, and FFs company or the IRS will take ALL of his paycheck for the next year. (okay, they''ll be kind enough to leave him with $300 per paycheck -- just enough for childsupport)

He was busy so I gathered all of the tax stuff for the tax prep guy. I know the info better than he does.

And he is headed into a meeting with his manager''s manager''s manager in about 20 minutes.

Well, at worst you guys will have to downsize and live off of your salary. No fun, but usually doable. I''m sure he could sell his plane or something. It''ll work out. Luckily this doesn''t put any of *your* information with the IRS at risk or put your credit at risk. That''s good. I know I sound cynical, but you''ve got to protect yourself with stuff like this.

We are both careful to keep it all separate. Maybe someday combine things but very separate right now.

My salary comes up about $1,200 short of even paying just the mortgage.
Airplane would take months to sell.
No investment accounts to fall back on. Nothing.

Good news is that the tax returns are almost ready. If I can get the remaining info to the tax prep guy we''ll be okay. He actually over paid the IRS for the 4 years in question. So once the returns are in it will all be okay. I hope.

Popping into the middle of this thread to say congrats on your interview, Bia! How exciting.

I thought I''d chime in on the suit thing since I only wear suits to work these days. I have been getting them mostly at Ann Taylor. I also have a BCBG suit I love--it is slightly body-con while still looking conservative. I feel like hot power lawyer when I wear it. For an interview, I usually wear a black or navy blue suit (navy is less popular for women, so I go with it to stand out a teeny bit). Underneath, I usually wear some sort of neutral or pastel color--not necessarily white, since that is what everyone else seems to wear. Shoes should be neutral, closed-toe and closed-heel. Minimal, tasteful jewelry. Most importantly, make sure you''re comfortable! If button-downs drive you nuts, wear a shell. If you tend to play with your hair, put it up.

Good luck!

morning everyone!
i am up WAY to early today (4 am). woke up with a wicked charlie horse.

dyed my awful blonde hair back to brown/red last night. SO.MUCH.BETTER.
now if someone could just attack my eyebrows for me. i am clueless when it comes to those things (i have eyebrows eugene levy would be jealous of...

)

came home last night to dog with a new haircut (eric and i cut it ourselves to save $$$) and he looks so cute.

Morning Jcar....

I know nothing about dying eyebrows, mine can get out of control sometimes I feel like I need to take a hedger to them

Thanks kittybean for the congrats! I hope I have even better news to share with you all next week! Keep your fingers crossed

My mom is stressing me out. She feels like she''s not being included enough, that her role as MOB is being downplayed by everyone.

I''m officially ready to elope.

I find people are just completely irrational when it comes to weddings, even when they''re NOT the bride.

Im so sick of this wedding. Three weeks from Saturday.

I still have stupid little crap to deal with and I DON''T WANT TO DO IT! UGH!

Boo! I''m baaaaack! I could seriously get on board with a 2-day work week! For you PNW gals we just spent 4 days in Seabrook which is that new little beach town about 20 miles north of Ocean Shores. We loved it!

Did I miss anything exciting?

Elle, I was just looking back a few pages in this thread and realized that I have the shoes you wore for your e-pics. I got them to wear as a bridesmaid in my friend's wedding next summer in the grey suede.

LOL. I like your style, miss!

So I'm knitting myself a lace shawl to wear for the wedding next year when it cools off in the evening and I'm trying to decide what to use as a center pattern. Here are the two test swatches I've knit so far--what do you guys think?

ETA: Ignore the one piece of stray yarn going across the one on the left--I didn't notice it when I was taking pictures.
