Those are both great. I like the one on the right. It is very delicate looking.Date: 9/17/2009 12:35:00 PM

Elle, I was just looking back a few pages in this thread and realized that I have the shoes you wore for your e-pics. I got them to wear as a bridesmaid in my friend''s wedding next summer in the grey suede.
LOL. I like your style, miss!
So I''m knitting myself a lace shawl to wear for the wedding next year when it cools off in the evening and I''m trying to decide what to use as a center pattern. Here are the two test swatches I''ve knit so far--what do you guys think?
ETA: Ignore the one piece of stray yarn going across the one on the left--I didn''t notice it when I was taking pictures.

Tough choice though.
Where did you learn to knit?
I''ve always wanted to learn to knit. I taught myself to crochet using some old books.Date: 9/17/2009 12:49:31 PM

Where did you learn to knit?
I''m actually self taught from books--I started knitting in high school. The type of lace knitting I''m doing here is a scottish style called shetland lace. If you''re interested in it, get a book called Heirloom Knitting. You have to order it from the UK, but it is SO good. Seriously, one of the best lace books I''ve ever seen and a great workbook if you want to start creating your own patterns.

FWIW, I prefer the one on the right for your dress, too. Keep making the one on the left, because it''s gorgeous and who wouldn''t love a shawl like that? But the one on the right is more delicate and says "wedding" to me a little more.Date: 9/17/2009 1:47:16 PM

I''m actually kind of leaning towards the right just because it''s not as obvious a pattern...since my dress has an all-over pattern I really don''t want it to clash, you know? It''s also so delicate looking in person. Not that the other one isn''t, but the one on the right is just a little lacier, you know?

Wow. So I love how posting here helps clear my mind. After posting here and thinking about it I realized I really do want to move in with M. Like...soon. It just seems like so much fun (work, yes, but FUN work), and like it''s really going to be right for us when it happens (which is soon, I hope). I always told myself I wouldn''t live with somebody for more than a year without a commitment (the kind that comes with at least one ring), but that''s mattering less to me now. What is mattering is thinking about having a HOME. With him and the cats and the puppy.
Gosh. Why can''t I just stick to the plan????

Living together IS fun. A definite adjustment, but so much fun! I love driving by our first apartment together and thinking ''Aww.. that''s where it all began!''
You''d have one big happy family, complete with furry children. What isn''t fun about that?

It''s a giant system of caves in Kentucky that you can walk through. It''s pretty fun - went there when I was a kid!Date: 9/18/2009 10:03:17 AM
