I''d get my drink on in celebration (mmm, wine) but in my desperation for some more Christmas time cash I''ve agreed to babysit tonight. I havn''t baby sat since I was about 15!

I start my new job today!

Which means...no PS til I get home, but have a great Wednesday, ladies

Yeah, it''s been about that long since I''ve babysat, too! Such an easy job!

MK - Good luck on your first day, lady!

Morning friends!

Good luck MK!!!

Morning ladies.

I have training in downtown Detroit this afternoon. I''ll be gone from noon til 4.

I HATE driving to Detroit. Ugh.

Congratulations, 4ever!

I''ve never babysat - babies terrify me. Which is upsetting because I think I''d like to have one someday.

Good luck, Miss Kitty!

When I think of Detroit I think of the armpit of the US. I''ve never actually been there though. Is it as bad as people make it out to be?

No.

I mean, it''s a city, so clearly it has bad areas, and I''ve been to *nicer* cities, but there''s a lot to do down there and the newer stuff is pretty nice actually. New casinos, lots of bars, newer hotels. It''s right on a river, so thats really pretty (as long as you don''t think about how gross it is IN the river!)

I generally do not feel unsafe down there.

It''s just a really long drive from Ann Arbor.

I never realized you lived in MI. For some reason I thought you were on the EC.

I love babies. I have the worst baby fever right now, every time I see one I get all gushy and then I go home and jump DH.We''re going to start TTC in Jan/Feb.

I love looking at and playing with other people''s babies. I have just never had to actually care for one, and that scares me. A lot.

Ooooh, HH is gonna be a mommy? Yay!
I think I have slight baby fever, but I can''t really tell if I actually want a child or if it just seems like a convenient way out of having to find a job as a lawyer.

DH said he''d like me to try to work for a year or so before kids so I can get my career started and have options later. I think he''s right.
I''d also like to be able to buy a 2-BR apartment before we have a kid, and those cost about a million dollars in our neighborhood - which we can''t really do right now.

Nah. Midwestern girl here!

Wow really? That''s not that far away! you could be KTFU in like 3 months!

I was having baby fever for a bit, then it kind of subsided. I''m OK right now. I hope it stays that way.

Man. A million dollars would buy you a fortress in Ann Arbor!

After working in a law firm, I would never ever go to law school or be a lawyer. EVAR!

I know, real estate here is obnoxious.
I always get jealous/nauseous when people in other areas of the country talk about what they are paying in rent.

so you don''t want to know that we pay 1000 dollars a month for a 3 bedroom 1.5 bath 1400 sq foot apartment within walking distance to downtown?

To be fair, we got a really good deal.

Walking distance rocks! SO happy we moved closer. No more flipping a coin to see who is DDing that night!

Yeah, you have the best of both worlds! I wouldn''t ever want to live somewhere where I couldn''t walk to some kind of restaurants/stores.

What''s DDing?

I thought Jersey was the armpit?

morning everyone!

Morning B!

I always thought Ohio was the armpit of the US.

I want a house but the thought of paying 900k for the house and 20K in taxes every year to Westchester County is making me think we might end up co-op people for life
39.gif

eta: either that or we'll end up in CT somewhere

NJ is the sweaty crotch of the US...no comment on Ohio, that place can disappear off the map for all I care.

That is just mind blowing.

I can get a starter home in Ann Arbor (a more expensive area in MI) for 160,000. A NICE home for 200-250. A HUGE home for 400-500,000.

I... wow. 20k a year in taxes. YIKES!

I always heard NJ was the armpit, too!

Yeah -- taxes are bad. So are monthly "maintenance fees," which in some places are more than what Elle pays in rent!

Thanks for the DD clarification. It just makes me realize how long it''s been since I''ve driven a car!

CT can be erased from the map as well. I hate that state. What should be an hour trip down I-95 always takes three times as long.
