ELLE! I''m thinking you could wear it for epics. That''s what I''m thinking should happen with this dress. In fact, I''m going to move the $78 over to my savings account. If I''m willing to live without it for the dress, it can do more for me in savings. And then, in December, I can take money out of savings and buy something I know looks hotter than hot on me. And by then I should have enough to get something pretty and sparkly to go with it. Maybe finally get my amethyst set. Yes. This is what I will do.

And DG, I''m adding Florence to your list. For real. M and I loved it, and would go to Florence over Rome ANY day.
Now that so like a good idea!

Hey- Funny you mention Florence. That is on my calendar for July at work. I have an Italy calendar. Florence looks very lovely! I''m just in love with Italy all together.

Well... If I had the 78 dollars....

My mom said she wants to buy me a dress for e-pics. She was planning on taking me shopping when she visits in August, but maybe I should just link her to Gilt!

I''m curious how that color would work out on me... greens usually wash me out for some reason.

Yeah, you are a little darker than I am. More olive skinned, yes? I''ve got that pale thing going on (well, not so much pale now that I''m playing Ultimate, as much as multicoloured) but green eyes and dark hair, so it''s an easy go-to colour for me.

Maybe you could accent the green with another color, like black, like black heels, black shrug and black accessorise, that way it wont wash you up and add some depth to the outfit

M has family friends there that we stayed with, and they own the most incredible leather and clothing stores. I honestly had to leave the store because it was so beautiful and I couldn''t afford anything and I wanted it all. Their flat was incredible, and their son is the most adorable child I''ve ever met in my life.

And the gelato....oh my stars. HEAVENLY.

I''m not sure whats up with my skin tone. I have really dark hair, I generally feel pale, and light eyes.. they''re hazel. I look good in bright white, so that''s cool tone right? Is olive cool? I figured olive would be warm? I''m definitely not warm.

I''m clueless. Who is the skin tone expert?

All I know is i look like crap in green.. at least earthy green. Maybe jewel tone green is better on me.

Unashamedly.

And re: the egg. That''s cool! Do you still want to do it? Have you and J talked about it?

elle - are you serious about it now? I thought about it a long time ago, but with a LONG time ago incident, and the fact that myfamily has issues with before, during and after pregnanciese i decided against it. I might change my mind later on though.

on a slighter, but still sad news - i bought B&J halfbaked froyo, and there were NO cookie dough chunks in it. i serioulsy just spent the last half hour digging around in it to find one. i think i have a cookie dough monster in my house.

I think I do. Obvioulsy it would have to wait until post-wedding.

I talked to J about it when I signed up, and we agreed it was OK. I''m re-discussing it with him right now to see if he''s still up for it. He likes the money aspect, obviously.

It''s three weeks of fertility drugs and then an egg removal process. It''s minimally painful, but obviously there will be medicine side effects.

After the eggs are removed, they''re fertilized. Whatever embryos the parents do not want will be given up for adoption (which is AWESOME). I could help multiple couples be parents. How cool is that??

Hmmmm. Be careful Elle (just saying..you know I luv you).

I considered this before, but decided against it. The thought of them pumping me with hormones, and not knowing the long-term side effects made me decide the money wasn''t worth it. I know that''s not what you want to hear, but I just wanted to give you another opinion. I am not an enabler in this case.
40.gif

wow elle! thats swesome you will help more than one couple!
but of course, with Bia - be careful!! :)

Wow, Elle, tough decision.

I''m not sure I would want to pump myself full of hormones, when (like Bia said) we don''t really know the long-term side effects. But the money is an incentive (is it really enough to make it worth it though?) and the idea of being able to help people become parents is very appealing.

I don''t know what to say, I wish I had better advice.
40.gif

Thanks, B.

We have discussed the risks and benefits and we are pretty comfortable with our decision.

Although, it has become slightly scarier now that someone is actually interested in my eggs!

good afternoon ladies!

elledizzy5 - i hope your throat feels better! sore throats are so annoying. =p stay hydrated and if you have them, take some vitamin c supplements. that always seems to help for us. that bridal package seems very reasonable! since you usually go to this salon, at least you're comfortable with the quality of work they do. how's the rest of the wedding planning going?

NakedFinger - man, i want to live vicariously through you! awesome job, new house, new kitchen in the works, traveling...you're a busy bee! that's so sweet and thoughtful of your SO to take all the "post proposal aftermath" into consideration but i feel you on the waiting. hang in there girl! in Alton Brown's words - "your patience will be rewarded!" ugh, i just sounded like a food network geek...
3.gif

Brown.Eyed.Girl - OMG! how cute is that kitty?! love, love, LOVE his face...i think he'd be a fantastic addition to your household! i think you should get him and a Bengal boy...that way you'd have one of each!

princesss - umm, i'm really trying to think of something that'll talk you out of it. nope, sorry i can't! even with all the reasons you gave to NOT buy the dress, $78 for a Badgley Mischka dress is like un-heard of! i say go for it! *edit* i guess my post took a while to write so i just caught up. sorry you're not getting the dress (that green is fabulous) but good for you for saving the money. elledizzy5 - if you get the dress, i hope you post some pics!

ok i need to vent (kinda long...sorry): BF and i live in a condo and i can't wait to just move out of here. he bought it in 2005 and we recently got it appraised to see what we could sell it for if we put it on the market now. it turns out we wouldn't make any profit since the market is so low right now. in fact, we'd be lucky if we broke even.
29.gif
we're both getting frustrated since we're having problems with the condo association and even though we like our neighbors on our floor, it's the family that lives right above our unit that drives us bonkers! every morning and night, the mom lets her 2 or 3 kids run around, jump on beds and jump on furniture which means we hear all of that. we've complained to them numerous times but it still happens. the worst was when we came home one day and found out there was water leaking from the ceiling in our bathroom. apparently, the kids upstairs let the water run in the bathtub and it overflowed. what?! how could you not notice if your kids were doing something like that?
38.gif

the people upstairs are miniscule compared to our condo association/management though. a couple of years ago, maintenance sent out a notice that they were going to inspect the air ducts in all the units in our building. they were doing it in the middle of the work week in the early afternoon. ok, that's cool since management has keys to all the units. we came home to find the top lock to our door had been busted and we totally thought someone tried to break in. the look in the door handle was fine though so we called management. they said we never gave them new house keys when we changed our top lock so they had to "break" the top lock to get in. umm...what?! first, we never changed the lock and the same key that works in the door handle works for the top lock. not only that but was it THAT important to check air ducts to break our lock?! in the end, they gave us a replacement lock but we had to fix it ourselves.

management also controls when the a/c and heat will be turned on in all the buildings. i mean each unit has a thermostat to control how cold or warm you want it but we can't manually turn on the heat or a/c whenever we want. so in the spring, they sent out a notice that the a/c would be turned on June 1st. i have a problem with this because it already gets hot and humid in May. anyway, June 1st came around and i couldn't wait to turn on the a/c but it didn't work. i called maintenance and they came over to check our thermostat. it turned out the breaker switch for it had been turned off so he just switched it back on and it was fine. then he was like, "how come you waited so long to turn it on?" i said, "what do you mean? i thought it only got turned on today." he said, "no, it got turned on a couple of weeks ago.". geez, wouldn't it have been nice if management sent out a notice to say so?! instead BF and i were literally melting in our condo the weeks before.

the absolute worst is the condo association. i don't know what it is but they cannot keep their records straight. we recently made a condo fee payment for June & July which means we're good until the end of August. a couple of days ago, they sent us 3 notices: one was saying we were late on our May & June payment (which we NEVER are) and that we owed them $1600. the 2nd one saying we were only late for June's payment and we owed them $400. the 3rd was a notice from the association's lawyers putting a lien on our condo for not making fee payments!
29.gif
32.gif
29.gif
32.gif
surprisingly, i have to say that this isn't the first time this has happened to us. the first couple of times they sent late notices, we showed them copies of the checks that were made out to them and they were like, "oh, sorry about that!". the first time they sent out a lien notice, we showed the manager copies of checks AND a signed written agreement (that the same manger signed btw. apparently, he forgot he signed it?!) that we had paid. he apologized and said he'd contact the lawyers to null the lien notice. we then get a letter that said the lien had in fact been retracted, but then there was a bill attached with lawyers fees for drafting up the lien in the first place. WHHHAAATTT?!?!?!?! we raised holy hell to them and in the end, we didn't have to pay of course but, we're still pissed about it. anyway back to the most recent incident, we've contacted BF's family lawyer and we've filed multiple complaints to the county's department of housing and community affairs (DHCA). however, DHCA deals more with maintenance standards like making sure apartment and condo units are safe to live in rather than condo associations f-ing up.

anyway if you read my whole rant, i want to thank you! i'm just frustrated that we have to deal with this and i wish BF and i could move far away from this hell-hole asap.

What kind of drugs/hormones are we talking here?

Also, who puts them up for adoption? Like, they store them somewhere and couples can come and "adopt" the embryos? For them to "bake" or a surrogate?

Can the kids ever find you? How do you feel about having unknown kids out there?

I totally sound like I am grilling/judging you but I swear I am not! Just curious and nosey

Lupron, Fertinex (Or Similar) and a shot of HCG.

Once the eggs are removed, any eggs beyond the 2-4 necessary are frozen. The parents can keep them frozen for potential future siblings, or opt to adopt them out. Apparently embryo adoption is becoming more popular, which I had no idea.

You can choose an open or closed donation. If you choose closed, the child will have no way of finding you. Parents have no location information about you (however, they do see pictures, obviously) and won''t ever meet me in person. You can also allow the parents to communicate with you indirectly through the egg donor facility, or you can opt to see them physically or even meet the child. It''s up to the donor, and then the parents can agree to the request or they can find a new donor.

I honestly don''t feel like its "my" kid out there, yanno? It''s biologically mine, but it''s not really mine. I guess since my mom was adopted I don''t really thing of biology as something that make me connected, if that makes sense. Its who raises you and loves you that is a true parent.

I don''t mind the questions.. I asked myself all the same stuff when I considered doing it.

JEEZ vip!!! That sounds awful!

ditto - those are reasons why Eric and I refuse to buy a house that has an association neighborhood.
i''m sorry, if i want to paint my house pepto pink, and if my neighboor wants to park a boat in their yard, so be it. does it suck? sure. but any purchase over 200K should allow those things.

wow. rant over. sorry gals!
