Big T I''m 32! I''m so glad I have a fellow age bracketer! Yes it''s a word, I just made it up. Pinot Noir or Pinot Gag me? Nope neither. It''s a Malbec and a Cab coming tonight. This is my fancy wine club wine that I can''t really afford but it''s only 4 times a year so it''s my splurge!

Malbec.
That''s more in the Oregon wine region.

Sunny - As the resident accounting/tax lady YES your taxes go down but be scared because when you do your taxes as a married couple it knocks you up into a much higher tax bracket so you''re lucky to break even. No more big refunds!

Yea and according to my accountant you''ll get even more when you file joint vs separate

That you''ll get MORE back being married?

yes, he said it would be more beneficial to file joint because we''d be paying a few grand less.

Maybe he meant it''s better to file jointly and married vs. file seperate and married because your standard deductions changes when you''re married. Either way you have to file as if you are married but you don''t necessarily have to file jointly but yes jointly is better. You definitely get less back when you are married vs. single. You can however elect to withhold at the higher single rate even when you''re married if you want to end up with a bigger refund. Personally I''m happy to break even with Uncle Sam. He doesn''t owe me, I don''t owe him.

Last year because I was single plus a single parent and Mini is in daycare I ended up getting all these weird deductions and got almost 4k back. It just made me nervous getting that much money from the IRS!
