Big T I''m 32! I''m so glad I have a fellow age bracketer! Yes it''s a word, I just made it up. Pinot Noir or Pinot Gag me? Nope neither. It''s a Malbec and a Cab coming tonight. This is my fancy wine club wine that I can''t really afford but it''s only 4 times a year so it''s my splurge!Date: 12/11/2009 1:34:42 PM

Hey marrieds, when you changed your W-4, did you get a noticable increase on your paycheck? Mine seems ridiculously high. Just curious!

Sunny - As the resident accounting/tax lady YES your taxes go down but be scared because when you do your taxes as a married couple it knocks you up into a much higher tax bracket so you''re lucky to break even. No more big refunds!
That you''ll get MORE back being married?Date: 12/11/2009 1:54:13 PM

really? my accountant said the opposite.
Maybe he meant it''s better to file jointly and married vs. file seperate and married because your standard deductions changes when you''re married. Either way you have to file as if you are married but you don''t necessarily have to file jointly but yes jointly is better. You definitely get less back when you are married vs. single. You can however elect to withhold at the higher single rate even when you''re married if you want to end up with a bigger refund. Personally I''m happy to break even with Uncle Sam. He doesn''t owe me, I don''t owe him.Date: 12/11/2009 2:06:33 PM

yes, he said it would be more beneficial to file joint because we''d be paying a few grand less.
