Where is everyone?

It is TOO QUIET here today. (small talk & my office)

I hear ya TP....

EEEEEeeeeeeeeee!

Sorry. Way too quiet. Just had to pull my hair and scream.

One of the guys is gone this week. The other doesn''t turn his TV on & doesn''t like to have music playing (especially quietly so he can just hear that there is a sound somewhere).

The rest of the offices in the hall are dark. The only sound is my typing and the air blowing through the heating system.

Okay, that would drive me NUTS.

We have a fishtank in our little office, with a little bubbler in it...so that always provides some nice background noise.

That, and people have been popping in and out of my office all day today...so thankfully I''ve had noise. Pop on some headphones and enjoy Pandora!

People in your office have TVs?

MLIA of the day:

Today, I was playing an awesome game of hide and go seek in walmart. I saw a huge mug next to me so I texted my friend a hint, it read "Find me where the cups are huge". 2 seconds later I saw him walking into the bra department. I love my friends. MLIA

hahahaha

Thanks VC! And LOL at MLIA. Mmmm lunchtime. What to eat...?

Yep. Well, except me.
P & T both have a TV with a pretty impressive cable package. They are stock brokers so watch the business news stuff. T (the guy who is gone) "NEEDS" his tv on at all times and has it loud enough I can hear it out here in the shared space.

gotcha

I have the biggest craving for macaroni & cheese done fancy. With real cheese. All gooey and cheesey. Maybe with penne instead of macaroni.

OMG, TP, that sounds DELISH.

I can''t make Mac and Cheese at home...A is a lactard, and even the pills don''t help when there''s that much cheese and milk/cream in a dish!

Hahaha Lactard. We use that term for our celiacs. We''re Glutards.

Hehe. That one makes it sound like you ate too much paste as children.

If you knew me IRL you''d know that that''s also quite likely.

Dinner today -- tacos with the left over roast

Starting to plan meals fo next week since we''ll have a guest staying with us all week.

So far I''ve got -- beef bourguignon for Monday, turned into a pot pie in homemade puff pastry Tuesday

Breakfast options -- lemon flan with mango slices, cranberry orange bread, coconut rice pudding

I''d skip making the puff pastry from scratch and just go the Pepperidge Farm route. So much easier and just as impressive.

I try to plan meals every week. I''ve been told it will help reduce grocery costs, but I don''t believe it. My bill is always around $100/week

Yeah, my grocery bill doesn''t change whether I plan or not...but it does reduce the number of trips to the store, and therefore the amount of gasoline used each week. A and I use to go to the grocery store every day after work on our way home to pick up that night''s dinner. It helped cut down on a lot of waste, but we also wasted a lot of time. Soooo, now I do some combination of planning/shopping with a list, and just grabbing stuff.

I wish I could. All of the puff pastry I''ve seen to buy around here is dairy since they use real butter.

We can''t mix meat with dairy (not kosher) so I have to make it from scratch with our non-dairy buttery sticks.

We have the standard stuff we keep around & buy all the time (shallots, garlic, parsley, eggs, soy milk, etc.) and then the other stuff we get depending on what sounds good.

I do plan more than I had before since we buy from a restaurant supply place in pretty large quantity. The produce is much fresher and nicer and it costs 1/4 of the price or less. Since it does come in larger amounts though, I need to plan a bit more to make sure it doesn''t just sit and rot.

Oooh gotcha. I didn''t know you followed a kosher diet.

Hello all!

I want puff pastry, HH!

I had the most amazing sub today for lunch. I don''t know what they put in their mayo but OMG, it is to die for.

Life has been hectic lately, but in a good way. BF and I are getting into a good rhythm, and we should be joining the Y soon. Yay!

That''s all. My life is kind of dull, I guess.

LOL!

TP - they do make kosher pareve frozen puff pastry! It''s good with all-beef hot dogs for uber-kosher pigs in blankets.

I wish I had a personal chef just to plan my meals for the week (I''d even cook them myself). Every night DH and I scramble to throw something together, and half the time we end up ordering takeout. Can''t seem to get myself to sit down and plan before we head to the supermarket.

Yeah. It has pretty much eliminated pre-cooked meals from the stores and limits other pre-prepared stuff too. (there are things available at Whole Foods but they are too expensive to use on a regular basis)

On the positive side, it has cut our grocery bills & the quality of the food we eat is really good.

VC - that is hilarious!

so today is the first day in my life i have ever bought whole milk with the intent to use it. i am a bit scared, i''ll be honest. and on other news, eric is starting to make his homemade beer today. beer & cheese at our house! tours will begin next month!
