I HATE TAX SEASON! FRICKING STUPID PEOPLE ASKING STUPID QUESTIONS!
Agreed.

From now until April 16 is when all of the crazies come out. (and yes, I mean the 16th -- "but if I bring the check today, can''t you make it count?")

It''s El Convento Hotel in Old San Juan. It used to be a convent back in the day... Here''s the outside.

I''ve been there!!! Well the outside anyway! There''s a courtyard across the way with a really really funky tree in it. I say go for it!

I seriously ask this question every year because I with hold what I''m supposed to and still owe a few hundred.

HDG...that''s a HUGE deposit...but if you only lose a portion of that if you cancel, I''d say it might be worth it to pull the trigger. That place is AMAZING and as long as it''s in budget, it''s a winner.

Getting family involved can be tricky, but if you trust her, I''d say go for it!

I can tell you, though...those pictures do not make the venue "look" good. The venue IS that good to begin with.

Hmmmm, so would you all really book a place without seeing it?

Hmmmm, so would you all really book a place without seeing it?
Is there something about THAT date that you must have? Or could you push it forward or backward a week so that you can go see it without pressure from another couple? That''s a lotta dough for a deposit!

I would!

J and I booked everything half-@$$ed. We never met with our photog beforehand (only email), we didnt meet with our strings people (only heard MP3s online), we pointed at a bouquet in a book and told our florist "run with it" and everything turned out perfectly.

If I had fallen in love with a venue, I''d have booked that too without seeing it!

I guess not really. The Monday of the following week is a holiday so everything would probably be more expensive for our guests (although it would be a lot cheaper for us to have it on that Sunday

Interesting lol! I mean that deposit is A LOT of money, but honestly, I probably will end up loving the place once I see it in person anyway
3.gif
I guess if I can manage to negotiate stuff from here, then that's good enough.

The minimum consumption in that room is MUCH more than what I would ideally spend on my guests (probably around 50, 60 MAX!), so I can either get a TON of food/top-shelf drinks or I can try to negotiate to where more than just the food and beverage is included in that minimum consumption.

ETA: 50 or 60 is the number of guests we want, not how much I would spend on them.
