I would!

J and I booked everything half-@$$ed. We never met with our photog beforehand (only email), we didnt meet with our strings people (only heard MP3s online), we pointed at a bouquet in a book and told our florist ''run with it'' and everything turned out perfectly.

If I had fallen in love with a venue, I''d have booked that too without seeing it!

Interesting lol! I mean that deposit is A LOT of money, but honestly, I probably will end up loving the place once I see it in person anyway

I guess if I can manage to negotiate stuff from here, then that''s good enough.

The minimum consumption in that room is MUCH more than what I would ideally spend on my guests (probably around 50, 60 MAX!), so I can either get a TON of food/top-shelf drinks or I can try to negotiate to where more than just the food and beverage is included in that minimum consumption.

ETA: 50 or 60 is the number of guests we want, not how much I would spend on them.
When shall I expect my invitation?
Can I be your date?

***VENT WARNING***

Okay. So I know we were talking about distrust of medical professionals and such yesterday, but my mom is suppose to have a hysterectomy on Friday the 12th after several years of constant and consistent heavy bleeding that was not controllable by hormone therapy.

In December she was suppose to have a Uterine Ablation in hopes that destroying the endometrial lining would stop the bleeding. Prior to the surgery, the surgeon, but simple pelvic examination determined my mother had a "small ute". When they went in to do the ablation, my mother''s ute was much larger than the chosen ablation device and the procedure could not be performed. They cleansed and removed all present loose blood and tissue from the ute and charged my mom thousands of dollars.

This week, my mom went in to see the surgeon for her pre-op consult and blood work.
~The surgeon DIDN''T REMEMBER SCHEDULING THE SURGERY.
~After confirming the surgery, she antagonized my mother saying that she should have taken the surgeon''s recommendation all along and done the surgery right away. I assure you that my mother was never given that option because for YEARS all she has wanted is a hysterectomy. The SURGEON recommended my mother first try pills, then the ablation, and THEN AND ONLY THEN should she consider surgery. Apparently the surgeon countered with something to the effect of (not a direct quote) "If I said that, it''s only because I have to...I''m a surgeon and would obviously prefer the surgery at any time."
~My mother was never given any suggestion to take iron supplements or anything beyond a daily multivitamin to help replace lost hemaglobin. Because of this, her heme count is too low for surgery at this moment and she will need to spend the entire day post-op in the hospital receiving transfusions to get her heme count up to an acceptable level.

I am not a doctor, but my familiarity with the medical field knows that this is completely unacceptable. There are so many mistakes that have already been made that I can''t help but worry about the surgery next week. But I don''t want my mother to have to start over in her quest to finally have someone take out her uterus. She''s waited too long and been through too much pain over the past couple years to warrant that.

I just want to fly to Chicago and smash that doctor''s head into a wall.

Her BF will be there and aside from myself and my sister, he''s the next person I''d trust. He was a family friend for a long time (14 years or so) before he and my mom started dating, so I know he will take good care of her.

If I could, I would find her a new surgeon. But this is the third doctor she''s been through and the only one willing so far to actually *DO* the hysterectomy. I know the surgeon has a good reputation for her abilities, my mother thoroughly researched her and is just ready to be done with the entire years-long process, but apparently her bedside manner is severely lacking.

Thanks for all your reassurances, ladies. I know if it was me, I''d walk. But I just don''t think my mom has the strength or will to do that anymore.

I love it!

Thats why I asked you to be my mommy! You are a momma bear with awesome cake baking skills! Mini better realize how lucky she is!
NO kidding! She better, spoiled little brat! And to top that I burned the shiz out of my hand baking that cake. *Note to self, do not touch oven rack w/o a hotpad.* Wait, what? Who needs to be reminded of that? Ya um Mom''s that are going a million miles an hour to pull off the best 4th B-Day party EVER!
Awwwww, WL! You are the bestest mommabear EVER.

Remember that when she hits her teen years, Mini will hate you. But she''ll go back to loving you when she leaves for college and realize you weren''t trying to ruin her life in high school...you were just trying to keep her alive long enough to get to college, lol.

VC - If her reputation is good that makes me feel better but I have no tolerance for doctors w/ bad bedside manner. I''m sure if there was truly a concern that the doctor couldn''t perform the surgery up to standard then your Mom or her BF wouldn''t go through w/ it. I just get so stinking frustrated when you have to trade one for the other.

I totally agree with you, WL. I''m bolstered by her rep, but your good reputation doesn''t mean you can treat your patients poorly.

It''s also heaps more frustrating that she''s so far away and I can''t be there for her.

VC, I''m sorry the doctor was such a D-canoe to mom. That sucks and I hate to see my MIL in distress. I hope the surgery goes well and she has a speedy recovery!
