A frequently forgets his phone.

And then one time I was calling his work phone from my cell and he thought I was an over-anxious attorney who wasn''t willing to leave a message.

There''s a different kind of attorney than this?

The over-anxious attorneys that leave you 3 messages in 30 minutes when you''re out at lunch.

I''m surprised they bothered. Aren''t they supposed to have the entire office paged 18 times and then send out employee sniffing dogs who will drag you back to the office by your clothes?

Did you call him out on that?

No one should be on an electronic leash, but with technology today you should be able to get ahold of him regularly. Or at the very least, he can receive or send a text reassuring you that he''s fine, even if he cant talk!

Even if he only checked his phone once an hour, you''d always know in an hour if he was OK should his behavior be out of the norm!

agreed. Get him a jitterbug (its the "old people" cell phone") if you have too!

As for being the receptionist - yes, people are annoying, but i get to sit in back. thus, PS TIME! also, i only have to answer the phone, and not look at them

He answered the phone! Turns out the server his work computers use is down so he hasn''t had e-mail today. The phones go through a server too and it seems to be having issues as well.


Yep. Called him out a few years ago. Since then it hasn''t been an issue. We communicate through e-mail during the day. (since both of us sit at desks in front of a computer)
He knows that I will only call him at work if it is something important that I need answered ASAP. He is very good at answering or calling back as soon as he is able (usually within 10 minutes)

His e-mail at the office goes down sometimes but is usually pretty good. He checks it constantly when he is at his desk, in meetings, or waiting somewhere (which is rare). Most of his day is at his desk (software engineer).

Anyway, he ALWAYS responds quickly to stuff (within an hour at least but usually within minutes) and a big part of his job is done communicating via e-mail so even when he is too busy to respond immediately, he is still checking stuff.
Today is the one crazy day where the e-mail & phone went out.
