I''m sure they can vary the stripes on the tiered cake also. I like the combination of single & double stripes on the mini cakes. Maybe they can do the same sort of striping on the tiers?

Have any of you married chickies done hotel room blocks for your wedding? How did they work? Thx!

Yes. Basically you call the hotel with an estimate on the number of rooms you'll need and you get a quote on the deal they can do for you. Make sure you ask what amenities are offered for the bride and groom when you do this. Get a few "bids" from area hotels (some have minimums or limits on the blocks, etc) and then make your decision. You'll work with a sales person who will take your info and reserve the rooms. You'll set a date to open the block to guests and close the block to guests (usually 1 month before the date). Make sure you call after the opening date to ensure they're actually open and call periodically to see how they're filling up. You can add rooms if you need them and you shouldn't be responsible for the cost because anything not sold will be opened up to the public one month in advance.

Oh, and be sure to check in with random guests to see how their reservation experience went. I had some problems with mine (they randomly closed the block) and I wouldn't have known if I hadn't asked.

When I say a quote I mean what's the rate they're giving your guests and what are the extras they'll offer you. Sometimes they'll upgrade the B&G to a suite for free if you book with them or provide champagne and chocolate, etc.
