BG -- Aug 14 sounds nice (and really sweet) -- great time for a rose garden wedding....
did your parents suggest another date that they like?

Yeah... I'm okay.
Just rather depressed right now. I finished our budget for the year and what we make minus bills leaves about $6,000 for the year to go for groceries and unexpected expenses. My spreadsheet didn't even take into account the $2500 membership fee at the synagogue we need to pay.
In 8 days FI gets a stock distribution & (maybe) a bonus. Out of that,we've already got $2200 already committed to shipping parts and the $2000 for the attorney who did some work for us. I also need about $2,000 in dental work (non-optional, do it now or permanent damage sort of thing :knockout: ) Plus we need to get Sentra's teeth cleaned & the cats (Sven & Lilly) need a check up with the vet.
So in 8 days (unless he gets told sooner) we find out how much we have for the wedding (if anything).

tuition + stupid ex = lousy lack of money

Bg- awwww,i kinda of like that day. Wonder what weagther would be like? Also, why do you want it on the day he propose? I know most ladies pick something different. I dunno though? I really hate that your not feeling well, if you werent leaving so soon, i would say make a hot Totty, and sweat it out. Its like theraflu and some liquor in it. I know its a bad mix, but i know whenever i make one, i sweat out the cold usually in 8 hours to 12. I really hope you feel better soon :blackeye:

Too- I am so sorry about stressing about money. I COMPLETELY understand, the only difference is im not planning a wedding( Yet). Im hoping things turn around for you soon. Also, isnt nice to cry on your FI, i know i cry on C every once in awhile, and its comforting.HaHa, at least you have an extra 6 grand for groceries, i honestly have maybe half , of half of that. I really do hope things look up for you

Cali- hows packing?

Sorry i didnt respond sooner ladies i went out and had lunch with my good friend. We are both actors and i needed to vent about not making any movies right now, along with being stressed over money and my mom. She always makes me feel better. I also had to update her on the bf confessing that he was looking at rings while im at work, and my slight fear. Yes, i said fear...lol. She had a look of shock on her face when i said that. I guess hearing him say hes actually been looking kind of threw me for a loop, silly i know.

I'm buffing my nails right now. heehee. I still have a few hours to kill.

I guess i'll worry about the date later. For sure, I want it to be at a rose garden. OMG!!!! YOUR BF IS LOOKING FOR RING? That's sooooooooooooooo exciting. Is your mom really gonna kick you out? Moving in yet?

Nothing wrong with doing nails.

I think she will, but it wont be this week, she will probabaly wait until Halloween, which is fine with me. Espically since i start school tommorow.I actually cant believe he admitted to going to look, he wont listen to me about looking online, hes been going to B&M stores. :nono:

All ready for your trip?

school tomorrow already huh? Good luck!!!

Yup! I'm all packed!!!

at least he's looking at rings. That means he's ready to propose soon!!! I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOO EXCITED for you!!!

Thanks i need the luck for school. I have to retake my astronmy class, because i dropped it. I was reading through my textbook yesturday and im gonna need luck. Its more like a astrophysic class than astronmy. Blah....i actually have to go pick up a scientific calculator for this dang class :errrr:

Im so excited for you and your trip. Its gonna be so much fun for you.!! A whole week too! thats so nice :)

Thanks BG- now that i know hes been actively looking, i guess that means im a step closer. I cant believe he admitted it though, thats what shocked me. ....the good thing about school is, it will keep my busy so i wont have a lot of time for my mind to wonder about engagements. LoL...ill still be very active here, cuz i like all you ladies, but at home, ill too busy with school work to look online and build sparklies.

I think I'm feeling a lot better after my med. Astronomy class. That sounds very interesting! I can only find the big or the small dipper. Actually, my ex taught me how to find it. Oh well. We were actually talking yesterday. I told him I'm engaged. He is very happy for me.

Maybe when I'm back from my trip, you'll be engaged!!! I HOPE SO! I still can't wear my ring because of the bump. *sigh*

Feel better BG! I always get sick the day before a big trip and then I drive everyone on the plane nuts, haha. Try and take it easy during the flight and hopefully you'll feel great tomorrow.

Ummm, where are your earrings Jessie? I came on to look at them and now I'm disappointed... But that's so exciting that your bf is actively looking for your ring! Is he getting it from B&M or from one an online vendor (if you know). I would be hoping online since some of these vendors can get a ring made in just a couple of days!

Sorry about all the stress Too. :(( Definitely not what you want to be dealing with when you're trying to start planning a wedding. I hope everything turns out ok and that you get some great news in 8 days.

My packing is going ok. However, I'm easily distracted and today's issue du jour is my ring. Bf took it to the appraiser and I'm not happy about two things, both of which are Leon's fault. First, the stamp with his name got cut off at the bottom so it reads "IFONMEGE" (the L and the E are missing their bottom lines). Seriously, how hard is it to put the trademark on straight? Also, I found out the green stone is an emerald. He said he couldn't do a peridot since it was too soft, but an emerald is softer than a peridot. I mean, these aren't things that can be seen, but they're still important. I wish I had more control over these things. :blackeye:

Cali: thanks! I hope I'll feel better soon too! I'm sorry about your ring. I am also stressed out about my ring. It's TOO hard to get in/out. I'm actually scared to put it on. What are you going to do with the ring then? Are you going to talk to the one who made you the ring? I'm sorry, but what's wrong with the stone being too soft? Will chip?

We're going to the airport soon. Just want to say goodbye to everyone. DUST to all!!! I'll be back next Tuesday!!! :appl: :appl: :appl:

Cali: hope you'll feel better about your ring. Good luck with moving! Say Happy Birthday to your FF for me. ::)

Too: sorry about all the stress you're going through. I really hope in 8 days, you'll have good news!

Jessie: DUST!!! ENGAGED ENGAGED ENGAGED!!!

Hope I get to hear GOOD news from EVERYONE when I'm back. :saint:

150 for parking?!!

I'm lucky that the school I'm at now offers free parking passes to students.

First day is tough. :knockout:

Are you doing evening classes?

Good luck with school Jessie! Everytime around this year I miss going back to school, so try to enjoy it while you're still there. You're almost done though right?

I didn't realize you were also in school Too. You've probably mentioned it previously, but what are you studying?

You guys are making me feel old, I can't believe I graduated 5 years ago.

I've gotten a lot of packing done today and I still have a few more hours before our little going away dinner tonight. You just don't realize how much crap you've saved up until it all needs to be boxed.

I'm about to start on my 4th quarter. Working towards a masters in computer engineering. I should be able to finish my transfer associates degree (applied science?) in another 6 quarters or so then I'll move to a university and finish.

You're not old. I'm getting a later start than I would have hoped. I just turned 25 this year.

Ah, so that's why you know so much about computers. My bf studied Mech Eng, which has made me lazy about learning anything technological. I just ask him, he's quite the handy resource and it seems like he can fix anything. Does your FI work in a similar field?

I was in the Hangout recently and they were hating on some of the LIWs, saying how they weren't 22 year old LIW cheerleaders anymore. That got me thinking that I was a bit older than everyone here, and I noticed a bunch of the other girls saying they were finishing degrees. I turned 26 a couple months ago, plus my bf's bday is tomorrow and FMIL keeps saying she can't believe how old he is (he's turning 26). Glad I'm not a grandma around these parts!

Any updates on your wedding planning, or are you waiting to hear back about your FI's bonus before looking at anything else?

For some reason my school makes med students get employee permits which are like $300.I had to borrow money for the mommy for this one : (

With as much as they charge us for these stupid stickers (unless your's is like fancy I guess) you would think they'd be able to I don't know.. repave the parking lots one in a while.

Hey Cali- thats really bad about people in the hangout talking about LIW. Seriously, we come here for support ill keep my mouth shut about everything else. Your not old cali, i swear i wish i would have just keep up with school, and i would be done already.

No im not almost done with schooling, i gooffed off my first 2 years, so im basically a late freshman. It sucks, im actually having to retake some classes, which sucks. I swear, i feel like the oldest student in one of my classes, i look around and everyone looks so young and just graduate. Good thing, once i make up a few more classes, ill really be in my junior year. LoL...

First day was long. No parking, had to walk almost a quater/half mile to class and i got turned around after class and it took me 45 minutes to get back to my car. Blah, and it was almost 110 degrees today. When i got back to my car, i had to go get a smoothie, i had another 2 hours until my next class. Than other two werent so bad, just a LOT more walking, and no spaces.Lots of homeowkr already, blah, 50 pages to read for ENG, 1 Chapter to read for AST, and than like 50 Math problems for Math by thursday.

Too- how are you feeling. Hopefuly a little less stressed

Kag- I agree completely. We get little stickers to put on window. I bought a monthly one, ill have to wait until i get paid to buy the real one. LoL....our school use to have a little shuttle that went around the school, and parking lot. I think i would rahter pay a fe bucks more for the permit and still have the shuttle service, it comes in handy when you are in the outer, outer parking lot and your class is way ont he other side of the campus :nono:

cali -- FI is a senior software developement engineer. He has been with The Software Company for a little over 5 years now. Before that, he worked for a bunch of the other big companies and even ran his own business for awhile.
hehehe.... I get tempted sometimes to just find something different and let him be the computer guy
What sort of work does your SO do?

kag -- What are you taking in school?

Jessie -- Long walks ;( . For what they charge you to park you'd think they'd at least have parking for everyone :nono:

Morning Ladies :wavey:

I completely agree about the parking....hows the lighting adventure going?

We're going to cut the holes in the walls & ceilings on Friday. Got the wires all connected and ready to hang. Now we need to cut the holes (for cut-in box and to run romex), run the romex, and hook it up. (full day or two project). Hopefully we'll have them in by the end of this weekend.
After looking a bit closer, the light switch doesn't back against the closet in the office so we have to cut holes in the hallway ;( . The livingroom lights had a bit of a hang up so we wound up with something like 5 holed to patch in the hall closet. Hopefully this one doesn't have the same covered over wood panels or those 5 holes will be in the main hallway...
Part of the hole cutting project is to get the books out of the guest room closet (turned bookcase) so they don't get all dusty. While I've got them out, I'm going to see about getting a box set aside to give to my little cousins.

What would be a yummy (and inexpensive) picnic dinner?

FI and I are having a picnic dinner at his office (maybe outside somewhere) tonight since he is in meetings and we have to be back there again at 6 for a club meeting.

I need to find something that I can get ready in about an hour (to allow for drive time & shopping).

Maybe do Chicken Salad sandwiches, and some fruit(can get already cut), and than maybe some chips. Than you can make homemade lemonade, sparkling

or Chicken Salad Snadwiches( So Yummy) and Salad, with Pecans, and than Lemonade, just get sparkling water, or Tonic water and add to the lemonade before drinking.

Mmmm. FI hates (make that HATES) anything with mayonaise so no chicken salad... there's a place right down the road from my office that sells really yummy (not ground & pressed) smoked turkey breast. That would make a yummy sandwich.

I also have to stop at Whole Foods for dairy-free sandwich buns. I wonder if they have any dairy-free soup to go with it?
Homemade lemonade... Mmmm... That is a definite.

ETA: I do sometimes get this craving for tuna salad sandwiches and chicken salad sandwiches --- having a craving now...

How about:

smoked turkey on a toasted kaiser roll (lettuce & condiments to the side)
cherry tomato & cucumber salad (in a lime juice & olive oil dressing with thin sliced scallions)
veggie soup (if they have prepared)
fresh fruit (whatever looks best -- strawberries with vanilla bean & splash of red wine?)

Homemade lemonade & water to drink.

o, that sounds sooo good. You are offically making my hungry

Me too...

Sorry for the slow response Too, today was a disaster day even though it was my bf's birthday. I went to the dentist to get the edges of my new veneers polished, but the dentist didn't tell me that would required removing some of the tooth. So now one of my teeth is angled in a way I specifically said I didn't want and I spent an hour crying when I got home. The tooth is honestly shaped exactly like the first one I had, and the shape is the main reason I had it replaced. I basically just went through a lot of pain and money on a tooth to achieve nothing. Needless to say I'm very sad but trying to cope since I have to live with it for at least 10-15 years.

Anywho, enough of my pity party. That is a really awesome company your FI works for! My bf almost worked at google, so I wonder if the environment and employee benefits are similar between the two. Is the company culture a big part of your life?

My bf calls himself semi-retired at the moment. We started a company a few years ago and then sold it several months ago, so he's been waiting til we moved to start something new. While I've been packing, he's been goofing around on his xbox. Quite the difficult life, I'll tell ya...

How was your picnic?
