The LIW Small Talk Thread

Your done working for the week already?

That's an awesome work week Too! Nice...

I need to calm down a little, I'm still all giddy. At our dinner, my bf also arranged for flowers and one of my fav champagne's to be on the table. Ahhhh, I can't believe how amazing it was.

I need some distractions, what's going on with you Jessie?

Nothing wrong with being giddy, i would be too.

Not much going on here, just homework. My mom told me, that at my old job they are having lunch for one of my old coworkers, so i guess thats her way of telling me to come. LoL....other than that nothing.

O Actually, at C's job over the weekend, one of his coworkers got into a agruement with C's other coworker( In his department there are only 3 of them). Everyone at work( outside of his department) said it was so bad that the guy who started the fight was escorted out by 2 supervisors and a security guard. The guy is on suspension for now until he meets with HR today. This guy is such a jerk too, he always puts in for vacation time around holidays to C cant take anytime off. Like C had to work thanksgiving, and Christmas last year because of this jerk. I hate for anyone to lose their jobs, but if he does, im not gonna feel sad. In fact, it might help C because his job is looking to lay off 200 people by October. So it might just help secure his job.

What a week!

Good news (Yay Cali!)
Bad news (more shortly)
Busy...

So.... where to start.....

Millie started her meds for the parasite (giardia -- spelling???) yesterday and is still having icky tummy problems but has more energy. Hopefully the meds will help her tummy feel better (since it is the parasite causing the problems) soon.

My step-dad's father fell out of bed Saturday morning and had to go to the emergency room. He's got an infection through his body and pnemonia in his left lung. He may be released from the hospital as early as today. Maybe to go home, maybe to nursing home for a few days.

My mom saw her spine specialist yesterday. Her herniated disc isn't improving after months of physical therapy and steroid injections... He wants to do a discectomy
She is a cashier & driver for the food service department at a school district. By the end of last school year she had to quit driving (and missed a lot of days of cashiering too). The first day of school is today and she just found out yesterday that her doctor won't allow her to do the breakfast cashiering because it requires lifting crates of milk cartons so now she's down to just about 2 hours of lunch cashiering per day.
Not sure what she'll decide. I need to learn all about back surgeries so I can send her informational links and stuff before she has to decide.

FI found out about his bonus... it'll be really tight but he REALLY wants to see if we can make Cave B work in the budget. (I'm still unsure because it will be awfully tight and I don't want to get to a couple months out and not be able to pay everyone)

Rosh Hashana starts tonight at sundown. I'm at work today (what was I thinking  ). I'm done at 2:00. Have to figure out what we're having for dinner tonight (should be a nice meal), get groceries for the brisket we're cooking tomorrow + tonight + Shabbat, sew a button on my shirt, figure out what I'm wearing for services for the next couple of days, iron stuff, cook dinner, bake my special holiday challah (sweetened with honey, stuffed with apples & cinnamon, and formed into a turban shape -- takes about 4-5 hours), ............... all while taking Millie potty every hour ----------- Oh... and I thought services started at 8... found out this morning that they'll start at 6... which means leaving home by NO later than 5

Be giddy!!

That sounds SOOOooo romantic and wonderful!

I usually work Mon-Thurs (pay sucks but it is flexible for school). Mon was holiday and I took Thurs as vacation day. If it wasn't such a misery getting to take my vacation days, I would have taken Tues - Weds too.
Rosh Hashana starts tonight at sundown and goes through Friday.

O wow Too- you have a busy day/weekend ahead of you. Im so sorry about your Mother and her back and your StepFather being Ill. I dont really know what to say, expect ill keep them in my prayers.

Jessie -- Wow... Isn't your FI an attorney? What got these guys fighting?
I'd never wish unemployment on anyone, but your FI and the other guy deserve to be safe at work and it sounds like this guy just causes problems.

no, he is in the route and parts department for one of the largest gaming companies.I wish my SO was an lawyer. Yes, i agree about not wishing iton anyone, but this guy is always rude to everyone. I guess the guy was dropping a lot of F bombs, along calling the other guy a stupid MF, and other things, the guy who started the fight also was in the other coworkers face, like close enough to hit, which is what the main issue is about. It almost turned into a fist fight

Yay!

FI just e-mailed me -- he wants a nice meal at home tonight. We'll do candle lighting and everything at home and go to the services tomorrow and Friday.

So dinner tonight:

sliced honey crisp apples dipped in honey
brisket marinated in dry rub & red wine then slow cooked
roasted garlic mashed potatoes
red wine sauce (super reduced from the brisket drippings)
orange & honey glazed carrots
sweet-potato/ginger/lime tzimmis (sweet potatoes rubbed in fresh ginger, lime juice, butter, and brown sugar than slow cooked)
challah (from scratch - honey and golden rasins in the dough, stuffed with cinnamon/apples/honey, dusted with cinnamon & sugar)

Maybe brussell sprouts?

Hmmm.... need a dessert. Maybe and apple-rhubarb crisp?

That's right....
Sorry. My brain is out on strike until it gets some sleep.

:nono: :nono:
That just isn't okay for work. I can't imagine how tense it'll be if they let him stay.

Its okay, i know my brain is on strike since all of my first exams are the same week, and im trying to cram now!

Yeah, it will be tense. My only fear in them letting this jerk go, is C having to work possibly the graveyard shift and them changing his days off, even though im not working so it doesnt matter much to me.

Dessert, goodness, i coudlnt eat it with everything there, that sounds soo good though. Mmmmmm, your making me hungry

Sorry about all the health issues in your family Too, I hope your step-dad's father gets healthy soon and your mom can find a way to alleviate her back problems.

Wow, I can't believe you are making all that for dinner! My FMIL would looooove you. I asked my FI if he knew it was Rosh Hashana and he said, "it is?" He is pretty much lapsed at this point... The apple crisp sounds so delicious!

So I guess that is pretty good news for the wedding? Can you cut out some things in a few other places to make you more comfortable spending on the venue?

Ahhh, that just reminded me I need to call the airlines and book our last flight... crap

So are you liking school so far Jessie? Good luck on your exams, I always used to get super stressed and over-study for all of them. Hope they go well!

I've got to go run a bunch of errands, I'll catch you ladies later!

Have fun booking your flight Cali :wavey:

I've got to look and see where we can cut. I already plan to DIY as much as I can and get a pre-owned (or super sale sample thing) dress. Currently no plans even for a HM.

We need to get a more exact guest list together. If we come up with just a few over 40, we can cut the list to 40 (well, minus us + Rabbi & wife = 36) and that will be a huge help. They've got one package for 30-40 people and the other for 60-200 (or is that 70-200?). I don't know if we can agree on enough to cut to get into the smaller package (same rental fees and price per head, just that we'd have that many fewer to pay for) though so I'm not counting on that.

Got a few possibilities that would make it really work okay so I need to get those things moving and see what happens.

Jeez so much has happened since before the weekend!

So Cali - congradulations!! I just remember seeing a few posts back you mentioned how FI wasn't in any hurry to propose. Maybe he was spying on you here and decided to put a move on! :)

It's funny, I forget about the Jewish holidays now, since I don't know too many people in my community who are Jewish. When I went to college on the East Coast though, there were a ton more people who celebrated, to the point where my classes would be cancelled too! Admittingly, I needed to look up the holiday and understand the honey/apples part.

Too - I'm so sorry to hear about all the stuff your family is going through! I wish everyone a swift recovery, hang in there! Also, I really think you should find a way to fit Cave B in, with hearing you mention it, anything less you might not be happy with. You could always budget like a mad woman and spend half your days over at the coupon mom and be like one of those people that buy a weeks worth of grocerys for $5!!

Mif - that ring was huge on you!! Am I the only one that thought any bigger and you could beat the crap outta someone with that thing!

Well I'm self admittingly grumpy today. Work is busy (lunch break now) and the weather is just awful! I hate Seattle this time of year, I need a job that moves me away from Sept-May. Sad that we only really have 3 good months. Granted the skiiing/boarding is supposed to be good this year, but I'd rather it just stay sunny here and snowy in the mountains.

Thanks for the bday wishes ladies. I love you all.

too: I am sorry about your family problem. My Fi is a lawyer, maybe you got it confused with jessie's SO. Thanks again for the exercise.

Jessie: it sucks your SO has to work on holidays because of the jerk. Keep us updated of what happened to him. I am curious.

Cali: congrats again on your engagement. Btw, stop referring your FI has your bf. I know it takes some time to get use to it.

Omg! BB keeps on jumping onto my iPAd as I type. Lovebirds are very curious/nosy birds.

Eep! Almost forgot!

Happy Birthday Beezy!!

And you better get a nice gift from your man for forgetting! Shame on him. Your picture of your lovebird makes me miss my parakeet I had when I was young. Even though he was a wicked little bird. :)

Thank you! Well, we got the gift together in Hawaii. It's a pink heart stone pendant from Tiffany. I am still waiting for him to call and say happy bday.

BG -- Awww. What a sweet bird!
Sorry your FI hasn't called yet. I'm sure he's just busy with work and will make up for it later. (and if he doesn't, I'm sure there'll be a good story and you'll laugh about it later -- trust me...)

SC -- Yeah.... stupid weather. I don't mind some cloud and rain but it just gets so.... old, depressing, miserable, crazy-making...

I'd love to use Cave B but I'm sure I could find another place just as amazing if I had to. FI REALLY has his heart set on it and I don't think we'd ever find a place he'd be as happy with.
Hopefully we don't have to look. (gotta make some calls and see if I can wrap up a few loose ends)

I'm going to be out for the next couple of days. Exercises for Thursday and Friday posted below. Nothing for Saturday or Sunday (only does Mon-Fri)

Thursday:

Thought: I can easily remember romantic, special times in our marriage.
Task: Pick one such time and think about it.

Friday:
Thought: I am physically attracted to my partner.
Task: Think of one physical attribute you like.

See you all later :wavey:
Have a great weekend.

I'm pretty much out for the weekend now. (might check in on Sunday)

Cali -- Be giddy and enjoy your Sparkley!!

K, back form running errands, now i need a nap :D

Have a good weekend Too

I sorry BG, hopefully your FI calls soon. Im sure he is just super busy, give him a few more minutes.

Have a good weekend Too!

Enjoy celebrating your b-day tonight BG! I'm sure your FI is just having a busy day and doesn't want to put that stress on you on your birthday.

Ah, Jessie I'm so jealous. I could totally go for a nap right now! Today has been way too busy....

Seattle - I told him about that post yesterday and he laughed. He actually decided on yesterday because there were some great opportunities for him to cover up what he was doing and he knew I was booking our flights to Tahiti today. He said that he wanted us to be engaged before our wedding trip was booked, so it all worked out splendidly.

We are booked for all 4 of our flights to the islands. Now I just need to get some inter-island ones and we'll be moving along nicely.

Oh, and I am completely jealous of your weather. I need some rain here stat, too much sunshine drives me a little nuts.

Thanks ladies. My FI called when I was driving to lunch with my friend. he has meeting all day. as soon as he was done, he called.

O good about your flights. The little inter-island ones should be okay.

BG- see, we knew he would call. Enjoy the rest of your day hon. No worries today

Goodness, that nap did me some good, now its time for homework. *sigh*....

I miss my ring! I wish I have it right now.

Soon Bg...Soon......i sorry you miss it, but soon youll have it.

I had an amazing birthday.
I had lunch with my best friend and her sister. Then we went to the grocery store and pet store. It was still early, so I went back to my house to pick up my iPad and went to my friend's house. It was relaxing. We chatted and played with our ipads. We didn't do much, but it was relaxing. After that, I went home to teach 2 students. Next week, my teaching schedule will be back to normal. After teaching, I change into my new pink dress.(My FI loves the cleavage. Thanks to pushup bra) My parents, my FI, and I went out for dinner. Amazing dinner. We had shark fin, crab, lobsters, and other stuff. We were so full. We have some leftover for tomorrow. After that, we went back to my house for cake. My parents bought me a raspberry mousse cake. Yummmmm... My FI gave me my present. He helped me put on my necklace. I'll post pictures of it tomorrow or something. Then, some friends asked me to go for a drink. I had my FI dropped me off. Good to hang out with friends. I told them the proposal story. They want to see the ring. Too bad I don't have it. Amazing birthday. You ladies made me feel so special too. :appl:

I'm glad your birthday turned out so well! See what all that worrying did? Better get those pictures up of that necklace. It's too hard to see all these engagement ring pictures popping up everywhere that it'd be nice to see some birthday bling instead!

Oh and Cali, too much rain makes me sad. Really though, it's quite terrible during the fall/winter months here. You can't go outside and do anything and I'm so envious of people that say they can finally unpack their winter clothes or vice versa! I don't have a winter/summer stash, it's all year round here. I just put away my heavy jackets in the summer and call it good! Aren't you in Denver now though? If so, you can start to prepare for snow

Tell me about it! We should have similar weather.

Btw, I was at the Seattle premium outlet on Monday. Soooooooo many people. The stuff are very cheap, very very good deal. I though dome stuff. I used my birthday coupon ($50 off) at movado. I only need to may $41 for a coach watch. Juicy Couture has 30% off entire store, my favourite store. I got 3 hoodies. They were only $30-40. omg.
