Hahhaa... I guess we see it as calling IN to work to tell them we wont be there.

"I''m calling in to say I won''t be in today, I''m sick."

I also say "calling off" but never "calling out"

hehehe...I''m just buggin you.

"Calling in to work" makes sense. "Calling out of work" is probably where I got it. Although, truth be told, I have no idea what others say.

Let''s take a poll, shall we?

Do you say ''Calling in'' or ''Calling out'' when you''re too sick to work?

I think I mostly say (when telling someone else that I couldn't go to work) that I called OFF work. But before the action of calling, I typically say that I need to call IN. I've definitely heard it all ways though, call off, call in, call out. When I worked for Publix (grocery store for those of you without them) in the office I'd often tell the manger that someone called OUT. I seem to use all three dependent upon the situation.

I'm from Florida, born and raised, both are my parents are from here as well. I have friends that say it all which ways.

I say "calling out of work" - I am from the Northeast (in PA)

DG- So sorry to hear about your bad news. Here''s hoping things turn around for you soon - hugs!
emhug.gif

Bia - Hope you feel better soon

A fellow Northeasterner who knows the truth!

Thanks everyone. I am home now, bundled up, and drinking warm tea.

*sneaks in and interrupts poll*

FF just texted me good news; his truck which was broken since before we met, and he and a friend recently tried to "fix" themselves and in the process decided to add-on some "improvements" which got them to the point they no longer had any clue how to make the thing drive again, and recently got towed and impounded, will be fixed after all! i don''t know who they found or how much it''ll end up being, but FF is much much happier now, and just might''ve learned his lesson about "fixing" things, at least for a year or so. and i will get to see the thing move before i die!

*now we return you to your regularly scheduled call-in vs. call-out poll*
